The article deals with the influence of the selected material on the course of 3D printingwith specific TPMS structures. Thanks to this, it was possible to find out whether the quality would be the same or different in both cases when printing the same structures from different materials. The basis of this research was the creation of complex samples with the help of CAD software, which will contain 3 different TPMS (Triple Periodic Minimal Surface) structures - Gyroid, Primitive, Diamond. These structures replaced the full-volume material in the 20 x 20 x 20 mm sample. The aim of the research was to find out whether, under the same input conditions, it is possible to create the same structure in the same quality, or whether the change in material will also affect the quality of the sample. Creo Parametric 9.0 software was used to create the samples. Subsequently, the created samples were stored in STL format (Stereolithography) and printed on the MarketBot Method X 3D printer. The selection of two different materials aimed to show the difference in the behavior of these two selected materials on the same printer under the same conditions (temperature, nozzle size, etc.).

Residual agroforestry biomass, a byproduct of agricultural and forestry practices, can be used as feedstock in various industries, including bioenergy, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. In addition to its potential to contribute to the bio-circular economy, it can also help to reduce fuel loads in forests and mitigate the risk of forest fires. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis to identify the current state-of-the-art on drivers and barriers to the valorization of residual agroforestry biomass. A total of 194 articles from Scopus and Web of Science were analyzed using VOS viewer and R programming tool biblioshiny. The results revealed that only 4% of the articles focused specifically on residual agroforestry biomass, with the majority of them centered on the use of biomass for bioenergy production. The most influential authors, top-cited papers, and top journals in the field were also identified. This study represents the first step towards a more comprehensive systematic review of the literature on residual agroforestry biomass valorization.

The central purpose of deploying coastal vegetation is to form a final line of defense against flooding caused by extreme coastal events such as storm surges and tsunamis. The aim is to dissipate the kinetic energy of the incoming flow as it passes through the vegetation belt thus mitigating the subsequent inundation. In order to have an effective mitigation, the vegetation belt needs to be appropriately designed so as to induce a substantial dissipation of kinetic energy. This study investigates the wave-vegetation interaction of near shallow water wave numerically using IITM-RANS3D. The vortex shedding pattern of five different staggered arrangements has been investigated. An intensification of rotation within the vegetated patch was observed for closely placed vegetation. The wave height behind the vegetation patch was found to have correlation with said intensification of rotation. This paper discusses the qualitative dependence of wave attenuation due to the presence of vegetation belt in terms of vortex shedding.

The development and testing of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is one of the most active fields in the automotive industry towards Automated Driving (AD). This work presents the deployment and testing of an Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) based on Model Predictive Control (MPC). The goal is to design and validate through the experimental campaign a computationally efficient longitudinal dynamics controller and assess its fuel economy potential. The development of the control structure as well as the definition of the testing method for energy efficiency assessment are central aspects of this work. The performance of the approach is tested on a light-duty commercial vehicle on a state-of-the-art 4-axis powertrain testbed. The findings demonstrate that the speed profile can be optimized to achieve a fuel reduction of up to 13% while maintaining mission timing and comfort.

In this work, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques in the field of metal forming processes in Shear Forming and Spinning machines are explored. The main objective is to improve the quality of the parts produced and the efficiency of these processes through the implementation of predictive models and online value-added services. Firstly, different methods for the analysis and evaluation of the quality of manufactured parts are presented. Additionally, predictive models for online failure detection are developed, based on historical and real-time data, which helps prevent failures and reduce production costs. Furthermore, the challenge of detecting changes in the input material, which can have a significant impact on process outcomes, is addressed. Lastly, the implementation of an algorithm towards "zero defects" is proposed to achieve optimal conditions in the metal forming process. The described approaches enable customers of the incremental forming machine manufacturer to access a diverse range of services associated with the implemented methods.

In the modern manufacturing industry, virtual models are normally used in machine and robot design for behavioral analysis and optimization. However, the literature reveals a notable gap in methodologies for simulating and conducting virtual commissioning multi-brand robotic systems with distributed control in a unified software environment before their physical installation. In this context, the present works leverages the open-source robotic libraries within the Robot Operating System (ROS) environment to extend the simulation capabilities of RoboDK software, aiming to support the validation and coordination of complex automated systems. This methodology is validated through procedures for conducting virtual commissioning of a robotic cell for an aircraft fuselage assembly whose process coordinator is defined in ROS. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed simulation framework.

The interior noise prediction model is a valuable tool for estimating the interior noise level and obtaining important influencing parameters during the low-noise design stage of rail vehicles. Existing interior noise prediction models, however, have some flaws in their consideration of composite carbody structures. The SEA approach is used to establish a rail vehicle interior noise prediction model that takes into account the complete carbody composite structures, which include aluminium extrusion, porous sound-absorbing material, and layered interior structure. The aluminium extrusion is equivalent to an orthotropic plate subsystem, while porous sound-absorbing material and the layered interior structure are modelled as a lay-up noise control treatment on the plate subsystem. Analytical expressions are used to calculate the corresponding SEA parameters. The prediction model has been validated with test results and shows good accuracy from 200 to 800 Hz in 1/3 octave frequency bands, which offers a novel approach to rail vehicle interior noise prediction and a helpful tool for comparing the various noise control treatments.

The present business landscape, particularly in the era of Industry 4.0, is characterized by dynamic development, global collaboration, and intense competition for customers. To navigate these challenges successfully, companies must establish mechanisms for close and effective cooperation. Concurrently, ongoing projects for the development and production of innovative products are imperative. However, the seamless integration of various business and IT systems used daily by a company is essential to achieve these goals. Among the pivotal IT systems, alongside established CAx and ERP solutions, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems play a crucial role. Implementing a PLM system poses a significant challenge for enterprises, as each implementation project follows a unique path. There is no universally established and proven method for successful PLM system implementation, given the diverse applications and varying levels of complexity and integration with other systems within an organization. Identifying the benefits derived from PLM systems is intricate due to their extensive application across different company areas. The literature lacks concrete information, including figures, on the effects of implementing PLM systems. This paper aims to address this gap by presenting the characteristics of PLM systems and their role in modern enterprises. It delves into the implementation procedure, offering examples and effects in design, construction, technology departments, and the supply chain of enterprises operating globally, including those in Poland.

Based on the actual situation of metro line, a three-dimensional wheel-rail contact finite element model was established. Then, the stability of wheel-rail system was analyzed by using the complex eigenvalue method, the relationship between the modal coupling characteristics of wheel-rail system and the rail corrugation was discussed, according to the unstable frequencies and vibration modes, and the cause of rail corrugation was revealed. Finally, the influence of the wheel-rail friction coefficient on the stability of the system was investigated by using the equivalent damping ratio. The results show that the modal coupling resonance is the main reason for the instability of wheel-rail system, and for promoting the formation of rail corrugation. The increase of the friction coefficient will increase the instability of wheel-rail system in proportion. Therefore, in the actual metro operation process, properly reducing the wheel-rail friction coefficient can effectively inhibit the occurrence probability of rail corrugation on the premise of considering the traction and braking demands of vehicles.

This paper proposes an AI-driven approach leveraging stereo cameras and fuzzy logic enhanced PID control for monitoring and optimization of adhesive deposition while compensating for disturbances during the path following process. The suggested approach is based on point cloud processing acquired by a low-cost stereo vision system. The proposed approach has been validated in a deposition of glue case study coming from the bus and coach sector. A comparative study on the performance of mesh-based and voxels-based methods for volume calculation using point clouds has also been conducted. The results demonstrate that the precision and accuracy of the voxel-based method is better and promising enough to pave the way for expanding the application of the proposed approach to other path following robot processes.
