Talang Salted Fish Processing Packaging Model Using Value engineering Methods 1

One product that needs attention, especially regarding packaging, is the talang salted fish product, which has been trading talang salted fish without sacrificing packaging. This study aims to organize the packaging of talang salted fish so that it has a selling value that can attract consumers to shop. The strategy used is value engineering and the analytical hierarchy method (AHP). First, the engineering method is feasible to be applied to expand the value, performance, and value of packaging design, which consists of brand name criteria, Internet weight measurement, product identity, attractiveness, color suitability, typography, and font size. Then, the analytical hierarchy method is applied at the analysis stage to verify the priority criteria that follow consumer desires. The results showed that the chosen design with the best performance was an alternative (A-B-D-E), to be precise, the display was made of clear plastic packaging material, the colors used were bright, the packaging was rectangular, and each capital letter was used. This elite alternative design includes a value of 0.039. This value is obtained from the performance of 38.9 and the price of IDR thousand per pack. The novelty of this research is that the packaging model is easier to recognize by customers because the packaging is more attractive, more hygienic and does not cause odor from talang foreign fish. The method is more innovative because of the combination of product design and the selection of product alternatives if the product design uses value engineering and if the alternative design uses AHP. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

This work numerically investigates the cavitation characteristics in the Engine Combustion Network (ECN) Spray C037 nozzle using two different fuels (n-Dodecane and OME3). The cavitation modeling is performed using the CONVERGE code. RNG $$k-\epsilon$$ turbulence model is used to determine the effect of turbulence, and phase change inside the nozzle is predicted using the Homogeneous Relaxation Model (HRM) coupled with a multiphase mixture model. For model validation, the simulated mass flow rate and cavitation contour shape of n-dodecane fuel are compared with the experimental result provided in the literature. Finally, the comparison of results for n-dodecane and OME3 fuel is presented for the Spray C nozzle. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of hyperparameters on the performance of BEIA in detecting corrosion in reinforced concrete. BEIA was run with fifteen data of potential measurement values on concrete surfaces. Variations in geometry size, cognitive values (a1), and social parameters (a2) were performed in this study. Simulation result show the hyperparameters can affect the performance of BEIA in finding the location of corrosion in reinforced concrete. The concept of two-phase natural circulation loops (NCL) finds numerous conventional and non-conventional industrial applications due to its passive nature, less cost, and fewer moving parts. However, the dynamics of these systems are complex due to their regenerative feedbacks. Further, the two-phase flow patterns may change in the transient process. Therefore, the developed models should be valid and predictable in those flow patterns. In this connection, two-phase NCL models based on (Homogeneous Equilibrium Mixture Model (HEM) and Drift Flux Model (DFM) are developed using the finite volume method. Flashing phenomena, fluid and wall conduction, and water property subroutine are considered in the model. The models are validated against experimental NCL loops available in the literature. The start-up dynamics of two-phase NCLs are predicted and compared between HEM and DFM models. The drawbacks of HEM and the advantages of DFM are discussed. The changes in flow regimes during the transients are also captured using the models based on available flow regime maps. It is observed that during the transients, the flow regimes change drastically, and DFM predictions are comparatively better than HEM. In the end, the influence of input power, diameter, and height on two-phase NCL dynamics are elucidated using DFM and HEM models. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The ongoing transition from a linear (produce-use-dispose) to a circular economy poses significant challenges to current state-of-the-art information and communication technologies. In particular, the derivation of integrated, high-level views on material, process, and product streams from (real-time) data produced along value chains is challenging for several reasons. Most importantly, sufficiently rich data is often available yet not shared across company borders because of privacy concerns which make it impossible to build integrated process models that capture the interrelations between input materials, process parameters, and key performance indicators along value chains. In the current contribution, we propose a privacy-preserving, federated multivariate statistical process control (FedMSPC) framework based on Federated Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Secure Aggregation to foster the incentive for closer collaboration of stakeholders along value chains. We tested our approach on two industrial benchmark data sets - SECOM and ST-AWFD. Our empirical results demonstrate the superior fault detection capability of the proposed approach compared to standard, single-party (Multiway) PCA. Furthermore, we showcase the possibility of our framework to provide privacy-preserving fault diagnosis to each data holder in the value chain to underpin the benefits of secure data sharing and federated process modeling. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Computer extended Descriptive Geometry (CeDG) technique has demonstrated its ability to build parametric computational models of 3D systems supported by Descriptive Geometry procedures in previous studies. When a parameter causes a non-continuous and qualitative change in the 3D model, it requires an additional logic. The treatment of visibility is a well-studied example of qualitative changes that are associated with continuous parameters. We are interested in qualitative changes associated with discrete parameters (discrete variable conditional 3D models). This work deals with the preliminary study of a methodology for the construction of such 3D models. A cylindrical polygonal sheet-metal elbow model of n ferrules (neutral surface) with the ability to cater for the change of variable n (n > 2, discrete) is used in this work as a target system to study the limits and accuracy of CeDG based on GeoGebra in the construction of discrete variable conditional models. We successfully achieved a conditional CeDG model (3D), including the flat pattern, for any number of ferrules. This model overpasses the scope of the polygonal elbow model from LogiTRACE v14, which is restricted to n≤ 12. In addition, flat patterns in CeDG are exact in opposition to that of LogiTRACE, which are prismatic approximation with a given number of generatrices. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

In spite of the widespread adoption of Building Information Modelling in various construction sectors, interoperability issues still exist between tools and when developing deliverables. Though IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) schema is meant to be an openBIM standard, it is highly dependent on the implementation of technically correct translators, which do not always generate the necessary information. Also, in some cases, software limitations make it impossible to meet all owner requirements, as IFC specific mapping, or properties creation, so workflows that combine the capabilities of several platforms are necessary. In this communication, we describe a specific procedure for developing a structural model that meets the conditions for being transferred not only to a structural analysis software, but for creating 3D model deliverables according to the conditions requested by the owner's BIM guide. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Anti-friction bearings (AFB) are crucial structural components conveying rotating motions in a variety of mechanical systems. To avoid unscheduled breakdowns and fatal failures, remaining useful life (RUL) prediction is of great practical significance in industrial practice for prognostics health management, e.g., optimizing maintenance plan for component replacements. Recently, the artificial intelligence (AI) advancements have provided effective data-driven models for bearing prognostics using machine learning. In this paper, using the variational auto-encoder (VAE) networks as the regression backbone, the bearing RUL is estimated using envelope spectra via measured vibrational data. First, the envelope spectra are utilized for bearing fault detection and the network input features. After the fault is detected, the VAE is used for learning the probabilistic mapping from the spectral input to the estimated RUL value, given its good probabilistic and generative properties over the classical auto-encoder (AE) in content generation and variational inference. The application of the method to the run-to-failure measured vibration data from the experimental rig available online have shown its efficacy in bearing RUL estimation. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The technological advances of the Modern Movement in architecture introduced hyperbolic structures of great architectural simplicity and high structural complexity. The Church of the Holy Trinity in Caracas, built in 1969, is an example of these roofs. Four hyperbolic paraboloids of reinforced concrete of great geometric complexity cover the same 28 × 28 m space. The objective is to define geometrically and architecturally the church and its paraboloids through an architectural visualization methodology that uses the 3D model and orthogonal projections in the SolidWorks program. The proposed methodology is carried out in three phases: first with the bibliographic and historical review of the church archives. Secondly, with the construction of the 3D model and its orthogonal projections in the program SolidWorks. Finally, the detailed analysis of the geometrical, architectural and structural content of the church, together with the updated and extended planimetry information. Finally, the definition of a complex and non-existent analysis through architectural visualization. A methodology with SolidWorks that allows the modeling of geometrically complex curves and their planimetric extension, documentation necessary for their protection and safeguarding. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
