In this work we describe a preliminary general architecture for control rooms intended for remote handling operations of nuclear fusion reactors. The proposed preliminary control architecture will be implemented and used in the DTT Remote Handling Facility, for the training of operators and the test of remote handling operations. The control architecture is based on a Multi-Server/Multi-Client communication system, with two central servers running the core software modules and exchanging data over five different networks. The architecture foresees the use of a high-fidelity digital twin, virtual reality technologies and force-feedback devices to aid operator during RH tasks.

Interlaminar damages are a key challenge that limits the widespread use of composite materials in aircraft primary structural parts. Although years have already passed since the introduction of these materials, unstable propagation of delamination damage is still the base for evaluating the durability and reliability of structures made of composite laminates. In this paper, the unsteady and sudden propagation of skin-stringer debonding in a typical aircraft composite panel is investigated. Experimental tests and advanced finite element simulations have been performed to assess the evolution of debonding under compressive loading conditions. Fibre-reinforced composite panels, reinforced with a single T-shape stringer and characterized by artificial debonding at the interface between skin and stringer, have been experimentally tested and numerically analysed. The test output has revealed unstable growth of the debonding, with implications for the structural stability of the panels. The experimental results have been then compared with numerical simulations performed by using the Virtual Crack Closure Technique based SMart-time XB numerical procedure and excellent correlation have been found in terms of strain measurements against compressive load.

The wear and corrosion patterns of parts in technological environments of food production result from the influence of random factors. These factors include environmental conditions, load, speed, other external influences, and material characteristics such as hardness and yield strength. As these parameters are random variables, predicting the reliability of machines and equipment should be based on assessing the probability of failure-free operation and service life. The use of plasma coatings in friction units of food equipment operating without lubrication and in acidic environments was examined. The study investigated the impact of aggressive corrosive-active environments on the wear resistance of coatings, which could potentially be used to protect equipment parts in the meat and fish processing industry. The research demonstrated the possibility of controlling the process of corrosion-mechanical wear of equipment parts by polarizing the friction zone. Test results confirmed that the process of corrosion-mechanical wear of eutectic coatings can be managed by adjusting the potential of the friction zone with an external current source. Additionally, the electrochemical characteristics of the coatings in aqueous environments were identified, explaining the process of corrosion-mechanical wear. The level of protection offered by the investigated coatings under simultaneous mechanical loads and working environments was evaluated.

With approximately 431,000 cases, kidney cancer ranks 14th in terms of diagnostic frequency and accounts for 2.2% of all new cancer cases worldwide.12. For malignant clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), which necessitates WHO/ISUP grading based on tissue microscopic analysis, early diagnosis is critical for targeted treatment. With the use of a convolutional neural network with three blocks, this study presents a machine learning-based system to grade kidney tumors using CT scans. The system divides tumours into low-grade (grades 1 and 2) and high-grade (grades 3 and 4), which corresponds to the tumour's aggressiveness and helps determine the prognosis. The challenge kits21 database's 237 preoperative CT scans were used to train the model, which yielded an accuracy of 93.67% and an f-score of 91.80%. For reliable performance validation, the approach consists of data preprocessing, augmentation, and a binary classifier with a majority voting ensemble model. The objective of this non-invasive method is to improve diagnostic accuracy in clinical settings by decreasing inter-observer variability. The dataset will be enlarged in future work to enable wider application. Although there is hope for the system's clinical support, more validation is necessary before generalization can occur.

The main element of the hydraulic system is the pump, the reliability of which largely determines the reliability parameters of the entire hydraulic system. To ensure a high level of pump quality, it is necessary to carry out tests at different stages of production: design and prototype development, construction modernization, and development of new pump models. Since most of the time is spent on testing, the urgent task is to reduce testing time and improve the quality of hydraulic equipment. This work aims to evaluate the factors determining pump longevity while ensuring the equivalence of accelerated and long-duration resource testing of pumps. The reduced wear of parts should be used to compare the technical condition of pumps subjected to accelerated and long-duration tests. The effect on the wear of the increase in the friction path per unit of time during accelerated tests must be considered. When comparing pumps that have undergone accelerated and long-duration tests, there will be some discrepancy in the parameters compared, the extent of which is used to conclude a positive or negative test result. A positive result of the conducted tests can be considered if none of the specific types of failure occurred during the testing process and if no fundamentally new defects are found during the examination of the developed pump. This methodology can guide accelerated tests of axial piston pumps: regulated and non-regulated with valve distribution at 320 bar, regulated pumps with end distribution at 200 bar, and regulated pumps with end distribution at 160 bar.

With the development of modern technologies, the application of mathematical modeling in studying various physical processes has become a very relevant topic for researchers. The rapid change of physical processes does not allow for studying the process more deeply, which is precisely what prompts the researcher to use modeling and sequential programming of mathematics. Developing the theory of nonlinear oscillations of real systems encountered various difficulties;therefore, experiments of gas-dynamic oscillations on simple models are quite relevant. Analyzing the development of refrigerating technology and mathematical modeling, a promising method of obtaining cold was chosen based on the oscillating process of gases arising in blocked tubes. These processes are included in the operation of cold wave generators. The simplicity of constructions and the quick change of processes in the generator made it possible to use mathematical modeling, allowing you to study the processes of generators perfectly. Low temperatures and mathematical modeling together went through different stages of development, as a result of which they penetrated various spheres of human activity. The operation of generators is quite interesting from the point of view of the cryogenic and refrigerating direction of the development of machine-less gas-dynamic methods of obtaining low temperatures. This device combines simplicity and reliability of the design, unlike other refrigerating machines, as it has simple moving parts in its design or does not have them at all. Wave generators have found their application in energy, the food industry, and others.

The regulated quality parameters of the products are ensured by different technologies. In particular, sustainable manufacturing provides important requirements and main tasks for Industry 4.0/5.0. The priority directions to improve the sustainability of product manufacturing are associated with the simulation of machining processes by cutting, complex assurance of the technological system at parts machining, and the development of practical techniques for reliable measurement of the technological parameters of products. In the paper, a developed technique is implemented to estimate the surface layer of aluminum castings after step-by-step machining using rough and finish milling using the LM-hardness method. The degree of the degradation of the surface material of the workpieces is analyzed comprehensively using indicators of the criterion of surface homogeneity: coefficient of variation nu;Weibull homogeneity coefficient (m), and indicators related to it: material constant A(m), technological damageability D, and the intensity of increasing of the technological damageability j(D). It is established that step-by-step machining of workpieces by rough and finishing milling does not change the structurally homogeneous state of the material of the blanks. An increase in power loads at rough milling with manual feed of the working table of the metal-cutting machine creates a gradient structure in the workpieces. It increases the susceptibility to damage of the surface layers of workpiece material. Reduction of power characteristics at finish milling with automatic feed of the working table of the metal-cutting machine reduces the number of structural stress concentrators that ensure regulated parameters of products. Further investigations in that research direction are offered.

In the nuclear fusion framework the robots employed for inspection and maintenance tasks, are extremely afflicted by high amplitude oscillation due to the inertial loads that these robots must manage. To optimize space and weight of a robotic end-effector, remove components and not essential mechanism is the first step. However it's crucial to ensure a satisfactory level of precision and performance in terms of grasping of the gripper. Therefore in remote handling all the design aspects have to face with the restricted volume allowed by the environment in which the robotic system has to be employed. The fusion machines, akin tokamaks, are characterized always by narrow access port or confined spaces;these aspects affect the design of the cross-section of the manipulators and of the end-effector. The objective of this work is to evaluate the implementation of an innovative compliant mechanism suitable for remote handling tasks. More specifically in this work an innovative gripper design that significantly reduces the need for complex internal mechanisms and transmissions is presented. This novel approach utilizes a kinematic system based on the deformation of the main body of the gripper itself. By leveraging the intrinsic flexibility and material properties of the structure of the end-effector;this design achieves the necessary motion and force transmission through its own deformation, simplifying the overall design, enhancing reliability and reducing the mass of the manipulator at the tip. The FACT (Freedom And Constraint Topology) is a topological method, employed to obtain a first conceptualization of the kinematic. Structural analysis has been done to verify deformation and stiffness rate of the gripper concept.

This study validates an innovative method using 3D facial scanning technology to analyze the depth of wrinkles and their potential correlation with cardiovascular risk factors. The research quantitatively assessed the severity of wrinkles in the forehead (HF), glabellar (GF), and periorbital (PO) regions, establishing a link between visible signs of aging and cardiovascular health risks. A trend was observed where greater wrinkle volume corresponds to higher cardiovascular risk scores, although the relationship was not uniformly linear, suggesting a complex interplay of factors influencing both cardiovascular health and aging. This study introduces a new multidisciplinary diagnostic approach by integrating dermatological evaluations with cardiovascular risk assessments, highlighting the potential of using visible aging signs as non-invasive health indicators.

The article discusses the environmental impacts of deploying innovative, autonomous smart buoys for marine monitoring. These buoys, notable for their compact size and lack of traditional mooring systems, are designed to minimize ecological footprints within marine ecosystems. Equipped with advanced propulsion systems, they can autonomously navigate and maintain stability in challenging sea conditions, making them ideal for monitoring coastal areas with heavy anthropogenic influence. The research introduces a new buoy design paradigm aimed at reducing environmental impact, incorporating essential sensors for monitoring and collecting water samples. A comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) was conducted using the Open LCA software and Ecoinvent database, adhering to ISO 14044 standards. This 'cradle-to-gate' assessment evaluates the production of the buoys, applying the ILCD 2018 method to assess a wide range of eco-sustainability indicators including global warming potential, human toxicity, and more. Following the assessment, the buoys were redesigned with a resulting reduction in emissions. The findings from the LCA are instrumental in optimizing the buoy's design, enhancing efficiency, and reducing environmental impacts.
