In the present study, the resonance phenomena of the oscillation of the fluid column between a vertical wall and a rectangular barge are analysed by employing a meshless method known as improved meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method with Rankine source function (IMLPG_R). Both fixed and moving cases of the barge are analysed for regular waves having constant steepness. The amplification of the wave inside the gap and the horizontal force acting on the barge are compared for both cases. For the fixed barge case, wave amplification at resonance is estimated to be 27% higher than that of the floating barge. The instantaneous velocity and vorticity fields near the gap are drawn for the wave corresponding to the resonance frequency, and salient conclusions are also made based on the observations.

This paper presents the design and implementation of a web-based application for managing vehicle operating costs. The application is intended to help vehicle users control and optimize the money spent on the maintenance of both a single vehicle and a group of vehicles (fleet) for the company. Moreover this application aims to collect data that will then serve as sample files that will then be used in a machine learning application. At the beginning of the work, the methodology and requirements to be met by the web application were discussed. In the following parts of the work, the implementation of the web application and tests of the application are presented. At the end of the work, proposals for further development of the application and conclusions of the work are presented. In the era of electric vehicles, such applications will play an increasingly important role, including as journey calculators (charging plans, etc., taking into account journey times, distance covered, stopping times, minimizing energy consumption, etc.), hence the role of machine learning (ML) will grow, as, for example, as a route is covered, the software will recalculate data and alternative options in real time, which can be reflected in ERP logistics and enterprise fleet management systems for sustainability.

Porta KMI Poland S.A. company has implemented a fully automated intelligent technological line TechnoPORTA for customized mass-production of technical door leaves. Each door leaf is provided with a unique QR code. It allows the line modules to individually adjust the machining parameters to the currently processed element according to the IT controlling system. Before entering the TechnoPorta line, the door leaves are not sorted, although the high capacity characteristic of mass production is required. Therefore, the aim of this short testwas to verify the influence of leaf segregation by colour on the efficiency of the TechnoPorta line. Three groups of door leaves - white, black anthracite and mixed - were tested. The test included measurements of the time interval between successive door leaves, which is the tact of the line. The test showed that each time the machining parameters are changed due to colour changes, the tact of the line is approximately twice as long. The colour segregation of door leaves influences the efficiency of the production line. In the case of a single-color set, the tact of the line is half that of a mixed set. The less frequent the colour changes, the greater the production time savings.

The paper introduces an innovative approach to address the challenge of determining process parameter settings to achieve desired goals. We propose a mathematical programming approach that integrates a multi-objective formulation with decision tree models. These decision tree models predict different targets, and the mathematical model combines their outputs with other process requirements. A case study demonstrates the effectiveness of our model and compares its performance to a method based on a multi-objective decision tree. The results reveal that our method, employing multiple single-objective decision trees, outperforms the conventional approach utilizing a single multi-objective decision tree. The suggested outcomes provide the most suitable parameter ranges based on their target preferences.

The application of hydrogen in order to store energy and as a vehicle fuel requires efficient and effective storage technologies. An alternative solution to cryogenic and high pressure tanks is the use of porous material and physisorption (carbons, metal organic frameworks) or chemisorption (hydrides) in the tank. Due to the heat of sorption the temperature and its distribution in the tank might vary significantly during charging and discharging, affecting the storage capacity. The flow of the hydrogen in the tank is described by the equation of mass conservation, the Navier-Stokes equations and the equation of energy conservation as implemented in a CFD code. In the conservation equation additional terms are implemented in order to account for the amount of hydrogen involved in the sorption and the corresponding heat of sorption. These result from the mass and energy balance for the hydrogen in a finite volume whereat the equilibrium is described by an appropriate sorption isotherm. The use of data driven models is often computationally more advantageous then physical models. Based on the physical adsorption model a data driven model is derived using different machine learning techniques. This model is implemented as source terms in the governing equations, leading to a computationally more advantageous formulation. Thus the distribution of temperature and concentration during charging and discharging of the tanks is computed and limiting phenomena are identified.

Kaizen or change for the better continues to be a term that needs much to be explored in the industrial environment and in the academic arena. Understanding its implementation, especially in multinational manufacturing companies (EMMs), is vital to avoid errors and confusion. On the other hand, the EMMs that apply it must explore the degree of maturity or sustainability of the implementation of Kaizen techniques to achieve positive results in their operational performance. Therefore, the general objective of this study is: to analyze the impact of Kaizen techniques through the degree of maturity on operational performance in multinational manufacturing companies (EMM). A mixed methodology (qualitative and quantitative) to analyze the implementation of the Kaizen EMM, the quantitative result, speaking, indicates the most implemented techniques, and how those EMMs that have a greater degree of maturity and implementation present better results in their operational performance.

The aerodynamic properties of the wind turbine design have a significant impact on the effectiveness of wind energy conversion into electricity. This is a crucial parameter, especially for small-scale wind turbines intended for individual home applications where the effective area of the wind turbine rotor and wind speed are severely constrained. In this research study, the analysis of the energy efficiency of a wind turbine with a horizontal axis of rotation concerning the type of blades and its inclination is carried out. The experimental study focuses on four different blade types developed for wind turbines with rotor diameters up to 2 m. The experimental measurements were carried out on a laboratory test stand. In addition to the design characteristics of the wind turbine, an essential aspect is the velocity of the incoming wind. CFD calculations were performed to explore this topic. The research aimed to verify the effect of the geometry of the confusor and diffuser and their combination on the air velocity incoming to the rotor section. Analyses were investigated for five different lengths of an aerodynamic shield with increasing/decreasing cross-sectional area and for four versions of their combination. It has been found that changing the turbine blade type results in the powers increase up to 32%. The variation of the inclination angle of wind turbine blades results in the changes in the generated power up to 65%. Furthermore, the use of additional components led to an increase in velocity by nearly 21%.

Time delays and lags in control loops can cause instability and pose significant challenges to engineers. This study investigates a steering controller using the dynamic bicycle model, where the steering system dynamics are approximated by a steering lag. A higher-level controller calculates the desired steering angle based on the vehicle's lateral position and yaw angle by considering various time delays related to these states. Stability charts are plotted for delay combinations, and the most stable gain setups for the feedback controller are determined. The results indicate that an appropriate increase in one of the time delays expands the stable domain of control gains for the vehicle system, and it enhances the performance of the vehicle controller.

The article examines the prerequisites for establishing favor conditions for remote work, its advantages, and disadvantages in the context of project activities. The share of employees who work remotely, as well as their level of satisfaction with this format of work, was determined. The purpose of the article is to study the individual and systemic factors of remote work in the context of mobility to determine the conditions for improving the quality of project activity. Based on the content analysis, it was concluded that quality remote work requires considering two factors: creating a suitable workplace and working environment. To substantiate these hypotheses, a situational analysis of remote work was conducted. A survey of international projects participants working in the field of business as well as educational, scientific and project activities was conducted. The results of the survey identified a group of factors that determine the quality of remote work in project activity, including the ability to make independent decisions, work experience, the amount of work performed remotely, and the desire to improve relevant skills. Considering the results of the survey on the advantages and disadvantages of remote work, a balancing method was proposed. It is based on considering the disadvantages of remote work identified by respondents and provides for the implementation of corrective measures based on considering the advantages that respondents consider useful to overcome the disadvantages of remote work, due to the improvement of communication technologies. The value of the obtained results is the generalization that each organization as well as the project team can use the existing potential for the organization of remote work, creating appropriate conditions for the organization of the workplace as well as work environment and proper communications.

This work aims to establish assertive inventory policies for the raw materials in a Portuguese bakery. The demand behaviour of some items was analysed, using the ABC classification, and 14 main items were prioritised. Using Holt-Winters' additive method, the demand for these items was forecast until the end of 2023. With these forecast data, the paper presents a simulation and comparison between two different inventory policies, the continuous review model and the periodic review model, and also presents an estimate of current inventory costs. As expected, the periodic review model presented higher inventory costs than the continuous review model, due to the higher safety stocks needed. The results of this paper are a starting point for the company to decide what inventory management method fits better.
