The current work aims to propose a statistical energy analysis (SEA) model for simulating a metro train in a tunnel, considering mechanics/acoustic excitation, the damping/coupling loss factors, reverberation time in tunnel/coach, and the equivalent panels. The experimental data were used to verify the calculation results of the model. The characteristics of noise spectrum distribution and longitudinal spatial sound pressure distribution were analyzed on the SEA model. The interior noise was controlled by radiating acoustic absorbing materials on the inner wall of the tunnel.

Cybersecurity has been a concern for years, and cybercriminals continue to develop more sophisticated methods for cyber-attacks. Traditionally, cybersecurity has been viewed as purely technical, however, there is a growing agreement of the importance of the human side of cybersecurity. There has been a growing interest in cybersecurity awareness in recent years, however, not so much in critical sectors. In this systematic literature review, an overview of the current state of research in the field is provided, and gaps are identified. The result shows that 12 articles considered cybersecurity in critical sectors, indicating a need for more research. Many critical sectors were not considered in any of the reviewed literature, calling for additional research in these specific areas. Most articles state that cybersecurity awareness is important, however, few discuss why. Most propose awareness training;however, few propose specific types of training, indicating a need for more research on the topic.

River pollution has been the major concern around the world as rivers have served as the centre of development of civilisation. With increasing population, industrialisation and expansion of urban areas, rivers got degraded which has affected agriculture, human health and biodiversity adversely. Mula-Mutha River is an important river of Maharashtra which provides water to Pune city. Physicochemical analysis of various parameters helps in determining water quality of any water stream. In this study, sampling was carried out at 8 sampling sites from Khadakwasla to Daund to analyse different physicochemical parameters like pH, electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), temperature, turbidity, etc., to determine the water quality at these locations during 2018-20. In this paper it has been discussed how variation of season and locations determine the water quality and the factors which are influencing it. It has been found that water quality at most of the stations showed better quality during post-monsoon season compared to pre-monsoon season.

This paper presents a kaizen case study that aims to create a smooth flow in both machining and non-machining processes, while addressing the inventory problem that arises in these processes. To accomplish this, we developed a model that analyzes the production requirements of various products in the machining process and the cleaning process of machined parts in the non-machining process. The machining and set-up times for each product differ depending on the CNC machine types used, and set-up labor resources are required whenever a machine switches to produce a different product. Meanwhile, the non-machining process involves cleaning batches of machined parts before they are delivered. In this study, we focus on creating an optimal flow between these two processes by considering different batch sizes and their impact on overall inventory. Our results demonstrate that by implementing a leveling and small lot sizing strategy, we can achieve a more efficient and streamlined production process that reduces inventory levels and improves productivity.

The all solid-state lithium metal battery is considered a promising technology for electric vehicles due to its high theoretical capacity. However, during fast charging, the growth of lithium dendrites causes internal short circuits, which limits the charging rate. This study investigates the fast charging performance of sulfide and oxide solid electrolytes, which are representative solid electrolytes, by suppressing crack formation in the electrolyte through shot peening. The results show that shot peening did not increase the charging rate of sulfide solid electrolytes, but increased it by 10 times in the case of oxide solid electrolytes. Shot peening increased the fracture toughness of the oxide solid electrolyte by about 2 times, which is believed to have contributed to the increase in charging rate. The difference in the results for the sulfide and oxide solid electrolytes is due to the difference in their pellet production process. The oxide solid electrolytes are produced by high-temperature sintering, which results in compressive residual stresses that increase fracture toughness when shot peening is performed. However, the sulfide solid electrolytes are formed into pellets by cold pressing, and sintering is not performed after pressing, so there is residual stress by the pressing, resulting in no increase in fracture toughness due to shot peening.

Sediment transport is a complex phenomenon. Being a dynamic process, it varies from year to year. Behavior of sediment transport is studied;many researchers and models are developed for prediction of sediment load using probabilistic, shear stress, stream power and energy slope approach. Present study aims to develop a total load transport model for sand bed rivers. It is crucial to consider particle size as it governs the phenomenon of sediment transport. In order to develop model, multilinear regression approach is used to consider the effect of different influencing parameters of the phenomenon. Buckingham's pi theorem is used to find out influencing parameters with total load (Q(T)) as dependent parameters and depth of flow (D), width (B), slope (S), mean flow velocity (v), fall velocity (omega), shear velocity (U-*), Density (rho), gravitational acceleration (g), mean particle diameter (d(50)) and specific weight of sediment (gamma(s)) are used. Dimensionless p terms are formed using U*, D and. as repeating variables. Ratio of some terms are interchanged by considering the physical phenomenon of sediment transport after obtaining independent dimensionless terms. To find the influencing parameter and develop model, data from 2 gauging stations Hoshangabad and Barman are chosen from Narmada River, India. From regression analysis ranking was given to each parameter at both sites and then vS/U*, rho U-*(2/)/D gamma(s), vs/root gd(50) and D/d(50) are chosen as influencing parameters. Multi-linear regression model is developed considering the logarithmic values of influencing parameters considering 70% of the data. Remaining 30% data is used for calibration and testing of model. Model was tested on 5 G.S. of Narmada River and results showed average score of 70% with discrepancy ratio ranging from 0.5 to 2. Metrology of geometric quantities is experiencing its development towards Metrology 4.0 or metrology of the future. Coordinate measuring technology, which has replaced classical geometric size metrology in many respects, requires an in-depth analysis of accuracy issues related to the influence of measurement conditions on the reliability of the measurement results obtained. This paper presents an analysis of the selection of a coordinate measuring system for largesize rim and ring type components. These components, although assumed to have low-complexity shapes, are nevertheless characterised by difficulties in adopting a measurement base and coordinate system. The influence of measurement point density and scanning speed on the representation of geometric features for contact and optical measurement systems is presented. An assessment of measurement accuracy by estimating measurement uncertainty is also presented.

The dynamic behavior of a nonlinear elastic plate on a viscoelastic foundation under the action of a moving oscillating load is studied in the case of the internal resonance accompanied by the external resonance. The damping properties of the viscoelastic foundation are described by the generalized Fuss-Winkler model with the damping term given via the standard linear solid model with the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivatives. The external load is presented by a linear viscoelastic oscillator governed by the constitutive equation based on the fractional derivative Kelvin-Voigt model. The process of vibrations of such a system is described by a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations of the second order in time with respect to generalized displacements. The method of multiple time scales is used for solving the obtained set of equations in combination with the method of expansion of the fractional derivative in a Taylor series. The assumption of viscosity of the oscillator to be a finite value leads to the solution of the characteristic equation for defining the behavior of complex conjugate roots. Resolving equations for determining the nonlinear amplitudes and phases of force driven vibrations of the plate is obtained. Comparative analysis of the numerical studies is carried out for oscillators with fractional derivatives in damping description for the cases of small and finite viscosity. The influence of the fractional parameters of the environment and the foundation on the amplitudes of nonlinear vibrations is also shown.

In the civil engineering area, structural control technology takes real consideration, especially in recent works and research. However, the active mass damper is a control device used in several cases to suppress undesired structural vibrations caused by winds or earthquakes. Thus, the active device offers the real-time adjustment possibility of structural responses. This paper proposes an active mass damper to mitigate structural vibration caused by ground acceleration. The tested structure is a three-scaled structure excited using the 2003 Boumerdes earthquake excitation. To calculate the desired force of control, a proportional integral derivative algorithm is proposed in a closed loop. The active control is evaluated via numerical simulation results of compared displacement responses of the uncontrolled structure to those of the active-controlled structure. The carried-out results proved the active control strategy's effectiveness in suppressing the excited structures' vibration.

Nowadays, decision making is one of the most important and influential aspects of everyday life, and the application of metaheuristics and heuristics facilitates the process. Thus, this paper presents a performance analysis of the combination of constructive heuristics used to generate initial solutions for metaheuristics applied to scheduling problems. Namely, Nawaz, Enscore, and Ham Heuristic (NEH), Palmer Heuristic and Campbell, Dudek, and Smith Heuristic (CDS) with Cuckoo Search, Firefly Algorithm and Simulated Annealing. The aim is to compare the performance of these combinations to analyse the efficiency, effectiveness and robustness of each. All combinations were analysed in an in-depth computational study and then subjected to a statistical study to support an accurate analysis of the results. The results of the analysis show that the Firefly Algorithm associated with NEH, despite having a high runtime, performs better than the other combinations. However, the best effectiveness-efficiency ratio corresponds to SA-Palmer and SA-CDS.
