Porta KMI Poland S.A. company has implemented a fully automated intelligent technological line TechnoPORTA for customized mass-production of technical door leaves. Each door leaf is provided with a unique QR code. It allows the line modules to individually adjust the machining parameters to the currently processed element according to the IT controlling system. Before entering the TechnoPorta line, the door leaves are not sorted, although the high capacity characteristic of mass production is required. Therefore, the aim of this short testwas to verify the influence of leaf segregation by colour on the efficiency of the TechnoPorta line. Three groups of door leaves - white, black anthracite and mixed - were tested. The test included measurements of the time interval between successive door leaves, which is the tact of the line. The test showed that each time the machining parameters are changed due to colour changes, the tact of the line is approximately twice as long. The colour segregation of door leaves influences the efficiency of the production line. In the case of a single-color set, the tact of the line is half that of a mixed set. The less frequent the colour changes, the greater the production time savings.

In the present study, the resonance phenomena of the oscillation of the fluid column between a vertical wall and a rectangular barge are analysed by employing a meshless method known as improved meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method with Rankine source function (IMLPG_R). Both fixed and moving cases of the barge are analysed for regular waves having constant steepness. The amplification of the wave inside the gap and the horizontal force acting on the barge are compared for both cases. For the fixed barge case, wave amplification at resonance is estimated to be 27% higher than that of the floating barge. The instantaneous velocity and vorticity fields near the gap are drawn for the wave corresponding to the resonance frequency, and salient conclusions are also made based on the observations.

The current work aims to propose a statistical energy analysis (SEA) model for simulating a metro train in a tunnel, considering mechanics/acoustic excitation, the damping/coupling loss factors, reverberation time in tunnel/coach, and the equivalent panels. The experimental data were used to verify the calculation results of the model. The characteristics of noise spectrum distribution and longitudinal spatial sound pressure distribution were analyzed on the SEA model. The interior noise was controlled by radiating acoustic absorbing materials on the inner wall of the tunnel.

The paper presents a research on the vibration and experimental modal analysis of a tonearm-cartridge system applied to the mechanical system of a turntable. The high fidelity of the music reproduction depends drastically on the dynamical properties of the tonearm-cartridge system, which has only been simplified and studied empirically. The recently developed techniques on the experimental modal analysis, especially on the operational modal analysis and the damping estimation, open new windows to study this micro but complex system with innovations. The finding of the system natural frequencies of the tonearm structure reveals accurately low frequency resonances of the system and the effect of the tonearm dynamics into the vibration of the whole turntable. Moreover, the finding of the cartridge compliance and damping offer some innovative approaches to reduce the vibration level at the needle. The research attracts potential attention from the vinyl record reproduction industry.

Currently, there are many different types of orthoses designed to be made using additive manufacturing methods (3D printing), in which numerous pattern structure are used. These structures are mainly intended to reduce the weight of the orthosis and consequently reduce the material needed for printing. Unfortunately, the arrangement of these structures is often random and does not result from strength analyses. This work presents the design of a customized wrist orthosis containing open areas whose shape and location were determined based on the results of topological optimization. For this purpose, a modified 3D scan of the upper limb was used, based on which a 3D model of a typical (full) wrist orthosis was created. This model was used to perform topological optimization for 4 different load cases corresponding to movements performed in the wrist joints. The results obtained in this way were used to design ventilation areas in the orthosis model, taking into account protective areas necessary from medical point of view. Then, 3D models of the full orthosis structure and the orthosis after optimization were subjected to Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The results of FEA provided information about the necessary corrective changes were made to the geometry of the orthosis in order to improve its strength - e.g. widening the material strip in critical areas. The final 3D model of the wrist brace obtained in this way was verified in terms of meeting the adopted design assumptions and strength requirements.

The evolution from Industry 4.0 moves to Industry 5.0 and Society 5.0, which will transform the way industries operate through digital technologies, appreciation of the human, and sustainability. With this, there is a need for research on the worker and Industry 5.0. This paper aims to identify the main themes driving research on the worker inserted in the context of Industry 5.0. Up to 31% of food goods, especially fresh and perishable ones, are wasted during the transportation and storage. Products' innate susceptibility to spoilage, unexpected issues, and shifting conditions post-strategy commencement are among the manifold reasons for distribution strategy failure in the food supply chain (FSC). Dynamically optimised distribution (DOD) methods can help distribution strategies to adapt and respond to unforeseen changes in today's complex, connected and interdependent FSC. Building on Digital Twins (DTs) superior connectivity and actuation capabilities, this paper proposes a new DT-based method for DOD in the FSC, from DT design to modelling and evaluation in AnyLogic. Initial simulation results from a UK-based case study show that DT-enabled DOD could bring savings of more than 25,000 pound in direct costs and 150 tonnes of CO2 per shipment in a typical 20-tonne transport refrigeration unit (TRU). Benefits are compounded by potential fuel savings of up 132 L per year and TRU due to DT-enabled DOD dynamic carrier re-routing capabilities.

This paper explores risk assessment in collaborative tasks, by two different routes: a qualitative risk analysis method and a quantitative risk analysis method - to showcase the differences, advantages, and disadvantages between these methods. Another goal is represented by the formulation of guidelines on how to use these methods for companies that have implemented human-robot collaborative tasks. The first part of the research is represented by context analysis, where the current situation is described and the risk that will be evaluated is defined. The selected risk is: "Operator injury by the robot during operation - in collaborative tasks". The next step of the research is represented by defining and selecting the qualitative and the quantitative methods for the assessment of the defined risk, and the comparative analysis of these two methods. The selected methods are FTA and FMEA, and the analysis is performed based on the same potential failure mode. The third and fourth steps consist of the discussion based on the comparative analysis and the development of recommendations for the companies that activate in the automotive industry, about how to properly use these instruments for better and more adequate results. The two methods have advantages and disadvantages, but by combining or using them in parallel the companies can get a better overview of the risks and potential root causes involved and can better prioritize the risk mitigation actions.

Industrial robots can be controlled by a CNC controller instead of the native robot controller. This approach provides several advantages, including robot operation synchronous with the machine tools and facilitated automation applications. However, CNC control of robots also has drawbacks compared to the robot controller: Its control technology is less advanced and implementing solutions through available interfaces is difficult due to the required expertise from different engineering domains. The primary novelty of this paper is to offer a solution for this by using digital twins (DT) from virtual commissioning (VC) with extended dynamic behaviour to improve the trajectory planning of CNC-based control. An interface between the DT platform and the CNC is developed to communicate acceleration limits based on the dynamic capabilities of the robot while the DT ensures an easily applicable method for different robot models. This method is validated in a VC simulation and on a real robot.
