Sediment transport is a complex phenomenon. Being a dynamic process, it varies from year to year. Behavior of sediment transport is studied;many researchers and models are developed for prediction of sediment load using probabilistic, shear stress, stream power and energy slope approach. Present study aims to develop a total load transport model for sand bed rivers. It is crucial to consider particle size as it governs the phenomenon of sediment transport. In order to develop model, multilinear regression approach is used to consider the effect of different influencing parameters of the phenomenon. Buckingham's pi theorem is used to find out influencing parameters with total load (Q(T)) as dependent parameters and depth of flow (D), width (B), slope (S), mean flow velocity (v), fall velocity (omega), shear velocity (U-*), Density (rho), gravitational acceleration (g), mean particle diameter (d(50)) and specific weight of sediment (gamma(s)) are used. Dimensionless p terms are formed using U*, D and. as repeating variables. Ratio of some terms are interchanged by considering the physical phenomenon of sediment transport after obtaining independent dimensionless terms. To find the influencing parameter and develop model, data from 2 gauging stations Hoshangabad and Barman are chosen from Narmada River, India. From regression analysis ranking was given to each parameter at both sites and then vS/U*, rho U-*(2/)/D gamma(s), vs/root gd(50) and D/d(50) are chosen as influencing parameters. Multi-linear regression model is developed considering the logarithmic values of influencing parameters considering 70% of the data. Remaining 30% data is used for calibration and testing of model. Model was tested on 5 G.S. of Narmada River and results showed average score of 70% with discrepancy ratio ranging from 0.5 to 2. The all solid-state lithium metal battery is considered a promising technology for electric vehicles due to its high theoretical capacity. However, during fast charging, the growth of lithium dendrites causes internal short circuits, which limits the charging rate. This study investigates the fast charging performance of sulfide and oxide solid electrolytes, which are representative solid electrolytes, by suppressing crack formation in the electrolyte through shot peening. The results show that shot peening did not increase the charging rate of sulfide solid electrolytes, but increased it by 10 times in the case of oxide solid electrolytes. Shot peening increased the fracture toughness of the oxide solid electrolyte by about 2 times, which is believed to have contributed to the increase in charging rate. The difference in the results for the sulfide and oxide solid electrolytes is due to the difference in their pellet production process. The oxide solid electrolytes are produced by high-temperature sintering, which results in compressive residual stresses that increase fracture toughness when shot peening is performed. However, the sulfide solid electrolytes are formed into pellets by cold pressing, and sintering is not performed after pressing, so there is residual stress by the pressing, resulting in no increase in fracture toughness due to shot peening.

Cybersecurity has been a concern for years, and cybercriminals continue to develop more sophisticated methods for cyber-attacks. Traditionally, cybersecurity has been viewed as purely technical, however, there is a growing agreement of the importance of the human side of cybersecurity. There has been a growing interest in cybersecurity awareness in recent years, however, not so much in critical sectors. In this systematic literature review, an overview of the current state of research in the field is provided, and gaps are identified. The result shows that 12 articles considered cybersecurity in critical sectors, indicating a need for more research. Many critical sectors were not considered in any of the reviewed literature, calling for additional research in these specific areas. Most articles state that cybersecurity awareness is important, however, few discuss why. Most propose awareness training;however, few propose specific types of training, indicating a need for more research on the topic.

In the plastic injection molding industry, designing conformal cooling channels (CCCs) can be a complex, tedious and time-consuming process. Also, additive manufacturing is a costly process in the fabrication of these conformal cooling channels. To develop optimal CCCs it is required a lot of effort from the technician, starting by the design to the rheological simulation and then the re-design of the CCCs based on the simulation results. This approach aims to help mold making industry technicians design optimized CCCs more efficiently. To achieve this, a user-friendly webapp tool has been developed that allows 3D CAD files of the part to be molded to be imported and CCCs to be generated. The tool also enables conformal lines to be generated and exported, reducing the time-consuming design phase. To test and validate this tool, three existing representative real-world parts studies were selected for analysis and results comparison. The preliminary results generated by this tool are acceptable, although future work is required.

With the drive to fight climate change, governments world-wide have signed up to achieving net zero. Remanufacturing is a strategy within the circular economy that can be harnessed to achieve net zero. Remanufacturing is the process whereby a product is reworked at the end of life and transformed into a product with same or higher warranty and quality specification of a brand-new product. In this paper, using a qualitative literature review methodology, it is argued that 'design for remanufacture' is very important in achieving net zero and has to be taken into consideration by original manufacturers along with circular business models and reverse logistics strategies to conserve energy, enable zero waste and reduce Green House Gas emissions. It is suggested that through 'design for remanufacture' products can be sustainably designed 'ab initio' in such a way that it easy for disassembly and remanufacture of products reducing pressure on landfills, energy utilisation and environmental pollution.

Numerical models and vibro-acoustic measurements are used to assess the effect of reflections from the underside of a railway vehicle on the sound radiation from the rail. A 2D boundary element model is used in which the rail vibrates uniformly in either vertical or lateral directions;various different shapes of vehicle body are introduced into the model. Measurements are performed on a 1:5 scale model and on a full-size track with and without a metro vehicle. The presence of the vehicle primarily affects the sound pressure from the vertical vibration of the rail, with negligible effect for the lateral vibration. The vehicle body reflects the sound back down towards the track where it is partly absorbed by the ballast, reducing the sound power. Nevertheless, the sound pressure at the trackside is increased by 0-5 dB and in some frequency bands by up to 9 dB. Finally, it is shown that the sound radiation in the presence of the vehicle can be approximated reasonably well with simple line source formulae.

Laser beam welding is being more frequently employed to join copper materials. The use of green laser radiation shows the advantage of significantly higher absorptivity for these metals compared to near-infrared radiation. Therefore, a change in process stability and defect formation is expected. In addition, the effect of modifying the intensity distribution on the formation of weld seam defects and the geometric properties of the seam in deep penetration mode is largely unexplored. Thus, the aim of this work is the characterization of process dynamics and defect formation in correlation to the focal position and the intensity distribution by means of high-speed imaging and metallographic analysis. A significant reduction of seam imperfections is observed for a gaussian beam profile compared to a Top Hat intensity distribution. An advantageous seam shape and the earlier onset of the deep penetration welding process are favorable reasons for the application of this intensity distribution, while medium to high processing speeds further improve the processing quality.

Meshing contact points within packed beds poses a significant challenge. This study introduces a novel approach, named HybridBridge, which combines the advantages of various local methods for modifying contact points to address this challenge. The innovative approach is examined using a unit cell, investigating its impact on effective thermal conductivity and mesh properties. A comparative analysis with the conventional bridge method is conducted. Through geometry adjustments, it is demonstrated that the new approach is suitable for realistic simulations, ensuring an accurate representation of effective thermal conductivity. Finally, the study validates the transferability of results and the applicability of the HybridBridge method to packed beds.

A safe lane-keeping controller is designed using a control barrier function (CBF) which ensures that if the vehicle starts between the lane boundaries then it does not leave the lane. The safety filter is applied on the top of a nominal path-following controller of the kinematic single-track model in order to modify the control input when the vehicle gets close to the boundary of the safe set in state space. Numerical simulations and phase portraits are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed safety-critical controller.

The steam valve set (SVS) is the key protection device for nuclear power plants, including steam isolation valve, steam safety valve, interconnected pilot valve (IPV) and so on. The dynamic characteristics of IPV are directly related to the security of SVS under overpressure conditions. The effect of spring stiffness on dynamic characteristics of IPV and the fluid force of the IPV disc during the opening process are analyzed. The research results show that increasing the spring stiffness causes the change of valve disc movement from stable-state to unstablestate and then to stable-state. The response time of reaching the maximum opening gradually decreases with the decrease of spring stiffness under the stable-state. The decrease of spring stiffness causes the increase of velocity of valve disc and the decrease of fluid force of valve disc under the stable-state. The results of this article can provide reference for the research of similar pilot valves.
