This abstract presents the methodology for the evaluation of metro rail tracks which can be used to produce a vibration map, also it is very fundamental for track maintenance, where we predict vehicle body vibration [2] based on deep learning, which represents one of the newest areas in the Artificial Intelligence field. As we all know, in the entire world the evaluation of track quality had been through established track geometry standards. However, these types of standards may not be capable of detecting some abnormality of track geometry conditions that can cause vehicle body vibration. These vibrations also shake up nearby residents;measurements are carried out to evaluate the risk for structural integrity. With the help of SolidWorks software and structure, health diagnosis using Ansys software integration with experimental data for feature extraction used EEMD and for classification apply artificial neural network (ANN) where a model is proposed to make an accurate and point-wise prediction, due to which we can achieve optimal performance. This case study is based on the Delhi metro, for track health monitoring system was installed on several trains running on the green line in the underground which aims to improve the maintenance process. The early detection [1] and surveillance of defects help to extend the service life of the tracks and it also reduced operating costs. A data acquisition system is used to analyze the continuously recorded measurements (vehicle body vibration), which consist of vertical bogie acceleration and surrounding noise, for example with a frequency of 22 kHz. In particular, achieving optimal performance, and exploring the internal mechanism of the model, structural configuration, and inner states are mostly studied. However, ANN-LSTM can predict vertical vehicle-body vibration below 10 Hz and lateral vehicle-body vibration below 1 Hz. The TRIGA Mark II research reactor at the Jozef Stefan Institute in Slovenia, achieved first criticality in 1966. Since then the reactor has been playing an important role in developing nuclear technology. The reactor has been mainly used for research, education of university students, training of operators of the Krsko nuclear power plant (start of operation in 1983) and other nuclear specialists, isotope production, and beam applications. Despite the age of the reactor, there is a wide range of research activities going on in the three main areas. 1) Reactor Physics activities are related to verification and validation of computer codes and nuclear data, testing and development of experimental equipment used for core physics tests at the Krsko NPP, neutron radiography, neutron activation studies, development of bio-dosimeters, radiation hardness studies, safeguards activities. 2) Some of the environmental studies are using reactor for neutron activation analyses and for production of radioactive tracers. 3) Reactor is being used by particle physics department for radiation hardness studies of ATLAS detector in CERN. The future of nuclear technology in Slovenia is focused on new NPPs, while the research community is looking forward to a possible newnuclear reactor. The basic initiatives are at a very preliminary stage: the primary choice is dual-core pool-type reactor, with a zero-power core and a separate MW-size core, cooled and moderated with light water. Such a reactor will be capable of supporting the European fleet of existing and future nuclear power plants, including small modular reactors based on pressurized water reactor technology. Another option would be hosting one or more micro reactors with electrical and/or heating power producing capability. In this way the knowledge and infrastructure available for research and development could offer stronger support towards demonstration of prototype small modular reactors in prototype future electrical grids.

Successful survival and competitive advantages are the greatest challenges societies and organizations face. A cultural and strategic paradigm shift is needed, particularly in work relationships and the organizational environment. Industry 4.0 remains too linked to technology, even if the biggest challenge seems to be related to people. Higher Education Institutions are key players in this transformation process and the present study aims to understand the perception of higher technical professional students just before entering their final internship. Quantitative research of descriptive nature was used, and a questionnaire was conducted at a Polytechnic Institute in Portugal between November and December 2021. The results show that students who have heard about Industry 4.0, perceive it mainly from a technological perspective, even if they have developed leadership skills, communication, decision-making facility, and analytical skills in the courses they attend. The results achieved within the questionnaire provide a basis for improvements and innovations in Higher Education, which can be a key point for the development of Industry 4.0 strategies in the future, namely regarding the redesign of some curricula or pedagogies to overcome challenges and prepare students to be successful in the future.

Optimization of industrial processes is a constant concern and a main task for many companies in several industry sectors. Based on optimized solutions, the company can decrease manufacturing costs, lead times or, more generally, increase benefit. However, it may happen that as the process develops, engineers realize that the best solution is the one that already exists, i.e., the new solution does not add more value to the initial solution. This is one of the main reasons why many companies, today, choose the use of tools that allow to prototype, simulate, and virtually integrate complex and sophisticated processes. Among many simulations software available in industrial processes supporting robotic systems, the intelligent software Roboguide 3D made available by Fanuc stands out. This simulation software, although used only with Fanuc manipulators, allow to develop the program, add CAD layouts, and simulate the cycle times of the different tasks to be carried out. In this paper, a simulation of the solution based on a Fanuc manipulator (Robot) used in a tire production line is presented. The process to be optimized consists of an internal tire painting station fed by a conveyor belt. The optimized solution will involve optimizing paint times and, consequently, robot operating times.

This paper introduces an adaptive lane-keeping control strategy that adapts to varying cornering stiffness while ensuring robustness against uncertainties. The system consists of three blocks: an Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) cornering stiffness estimator, a cornering stiffness uncertainty estimator, and a Robust Model Predictive Controller (RMPC). Improvements in estimation accuracy are achieved through a novel IMM probability derivation method, and the uncertainty estimator utilizes the IMM probability matrix to obtain reliable uncertainty boundaries. Real-time cornering stiffness estimations are integrated into the RMPC for adaptive model predictions. Uncertainty boundaries provide robustness against estimation error in the RMPC by constraint tightening and smoothing techniques. The performance of the estimator and controller is validated in simulations, where the overall control performance is compared to that of the Model Predictive Control (MPC) based on static cornering stiffness.

This paper investigates the durability of Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) and Nickel Superalloy materials in gas turbine combustor liners across different flight conditions. Thermo-mechanical and physical properties of CMCs are assessed and compared with selected superalloys (i.e., Inconel 625, Hastelloy X, SiC/SiC, Al2O3/B4C, and Al2O3/SiO2) using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). An integrated methodology employing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and FEA is introduced to analyze thermal stresses and fatigue life, establishing a direct connection between combustion dynamics and structural responses. The study addresses a research gap by thoroughly evaluating CMC materials in gas turbine combustor liners, offering valuable insights for material selection and design strategies in aerospace engineering. The findings enhance understanding of CMC behavior, showcasing their reliability and durability for gas turbine components and their usage for advancements in aerospace applications.

Manufacturing of large components is a complex and challenging process characterized by high customization requirements, involving a large variety of subassemblies that must be manufactured and assembled involving multistage manufacturing processes. Moreover, product quality and production efficiency are key elements to ensure. Therefore, an integrated framework capable of ensuring an efficient manufacturing from the initial design phase is needed. The goal is to obtain the continuous evolution of the large component being manufactured by linking Product, Process and Resources data. In this regard, this paper presents a methodology for implementing a data-driven digital infrastructure supporting data exchange in a heterogeneous engineering landscape between engineering, production, quality and management. As a result, a digital platform integrating data models, digital twins and data-driven algorithms have been implemented enabling the application of feedforward control strategies as well as optimization loops to enable a more precise, efficient and sustainable manufacturing.

Tropical cyclones (TCs), also known as hurricane or typhoon, are among the most violent weather events which can cause threat to life and property. They include various threats that can cause huge impacts on life and property, such as storm surge, high speed winds, lighting and flooding. Except South Atlantic and South Pacific region TC occurs over all tropical oceanic regions. Largest number of TC per year occurs in North-West Pacific (26) trailed by North-East Pacific (17), South Indian Ocean (10) and North Atlantic Ocean (10) (Niyas et al. in Variability and trend in the cyclonic storms over north Indian Ocean. National Climate Centre, Office of the Additional Director General of Meteorology (Research), India Meteorological Department [1]). Only around 6% of global TC are formed over North Indian Ocean (NIO) region, with the rate of 5 TC per year out of which 4 in Bay of Bengal (BoB) and 1 in Arabian Sea (AS) (Mohapatra et al. in Status and plans for operational tropical cyclone forecasting and warning systems in the North Indian Ocean region. Only 5 to 6 cyclonic depressions per year reach to 34 knots and more to achieve the form of cyclonic storm (Singh et al. in Has the frequency of intense tropical cyclones increased in the north Indian Ocean? This paper presents the problem of pole placement for the control of a nonlinear electromagnetic system using the receptance method. A pair of identical magnets and coils are mathematically modeled to create the nonlinear stiffness in the electromagnetic system. The nonlinear stiffness can be varied by adjusting the input electrical current of the coils. The transfer function of the open-loop nonlinear system is obtained at a low level of excitation, in which the system is weakly nonlinear. By doing so, the evaluation of the mass, spring, and damper matrices, which are generally required, is avoided. In further steps, to show the system's nonlinear behavior, the excitation level is raised and the open-loop receptances are measured at various levels. The nonlinear system's poles are assigned using the linear feedback control method and the Sherman-Morrison formula at various levels of excitation. The system's response is dependent on the amplitude, thus, to get the feedback gains, an iterative approach is required. At various excitation levels and positions of the magnets with respect to the coils, the performance of the nonlinear control has been investigated. When the excitation level varies, feedback control can adapt to the changes in the amplitude and the distance, and the performance of the active control system is well maintained.

In nearly every domain today, additive technologies are advancing, particularly in the realms of technical execution and materials. The outcome of these processes is a faster, more economically efficient, and more precise production of models tailored to meet the material requirements arising from their intended purposes. However, all this progress shares a common denominator - the methodology of creating models in planar layers. All Fused DepositionModeling (FDM) devices, regardless of their construction type, are capable of actively engaging the 'Z' axis in the printing process, not only after completing all perimeters at a specific height. Current software solutions now enable the modification of the process of generating planar layers into a form wherein non-planar surfaces are created in models through active movement along the 'Z' axis during the entire creation phase. The result of this activity is a model with coarse planar layers that serve as a foundation for creating the eventual non-planar surface. This publication intends to elucidate the process of modifying G-code for printing in non-planar layers for specific samples intended for further research. These samples aim to explore potential alterations in force distribution within the non-planar layers of various material types in the subsequent research phase.
