The widespread diffusion of the Internet of Things allows its application in several fields for providing services to users based on the specific application. In particular, thermal facilities can exploit data acquired through the Internet of Things paradigm to monitor the structure and its treatments and improve the user experience. Therefore, this work introduces a framework to control anomalies and improve the personalization of treatments based on the employment of Recommender systems. The recommendation approach is tested through the MovieLens100k dataset, obtaining promising results.

One of the tools most used by database administrators in the analysis of database systems quality of service problems are system event logs, which contain detailed information about the actions (SQL transactions) performed over time in a database system. Using these files, applying their experience and appealing to the expertize of data analysis tools, database administrators seek to establish event patterns that may identify the causes and reveal a path for establishing an appropriate solution to the problems. In this paper, we present and discuss a process mining system specifically designed and implemented to detect operational bottlenecks in relational database systems using transaction logs, providing expert information for their resolution, and contributing to improve system's quality of service.

Cryptography incorporates application and scientific examination of methodologies aimed at facilitating secure communication in the face of potentially threatening behavior. In a broader sense, cryptography refers to the development and examination of protocols with the goal of safeguarding private communications from unauthorized access by third parties. Modern cryptography is situated within a diverse range of academic disciplines, encompassing mathematics, computer science, information security, electrical engineering, digital signal processing, physics, and other related topics. In this paper, we use the RSA algorithm along with the Moore-Penrose inverse of a matrix to establish an encryption method for the secure delivery of confidential messages.

This research explores the landscape of Vietnamese storytelling through the integration of the cutting-edge voice cloning technology. Rigorous experiments with Multispeaker Fastspeech2 and VITS, utilizing evaluation metrics such as DNSMOS and GE2E, lead to the selection of Multispeaker Fastspeech2 for its superior synthesis capabilities, with an impressive DNSMOS score of 4.3, ensuring an authentic and emotionally resonant storytelling experience within the framework of this study. Combined with the pre-trained HiFi-GAN model, a swift and lightweight mel-spectrogram decoder, along with the pre-trained ResNet34 model for robust speaker feature encoding. These integrations into a storytelling system, score of 4.2 in MOS in the overall satisfaction, contribute to an innovative and culturally enriched storytelling experience for both children and parents. This paper presents a fundamental study on the application of Large Language Models (LLM), such as ChatGPT, for enhancing Institutional Research (IR) practices among new practitioners. Emphasizing the transition to low or no-code methodologies, this study explored the potential of semi-automated analysis and visualization methods to streamline the data handling processes in higher education. With the advancement of LLMs, traditional programming barriers are being dismantled, allowing for more efficient and accessible data analysis. This study particularly investigated the feasibility of utilizing ChatGPT in reducing the programming workload for IR practitioners, which could lead to a substantial transformation in the field. Through empirical experiments and the development of new visualization techniques, the research determined the benefits and practicalities of integrating LLMs into IR, promoting a future where sophisticated data analysis becomes more inclusive and user-friendly for all IR professionals. The findings suggest that embracing such technological tools not only broadens the capabilities of IR practitioners but also strengthens the strategic impact of their role within educational institutions.

In this paper, we propose a new approach for detecting and removing impulse noise. The method uses the new framework of cloud filtering for detecting noise locations. This new framework use efficient mathematical tools to filter with sets of filters rather than with a single one. Once a (very) noisy pixel is detected, its illumination is estimated by an extension of the median filtering applied on the neighborhood defined by the cloud. Experiments on various images demonstrate the capacity of the algorithm to identify noisy pixels (especially at low noise rate) while well preserving image edges.

Social commerce is proliferating worldwide, but it has only attracted scant academic attention on what psychological factors influence consumer decision-making. Guided by the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) framework, we examined the influences from ease of use and online customer experience (OCE) on consumers' continuance intention and herd behaviour in China's two prominent social commerce formats: live streaming commerce and group buying. An online structured questionnaire was distributed among the social commerce consumers, and 694 valid respondents were collected. To evaluate the proposed conceptual model, we employed the statistical analysis approach of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), specifically, SPSS 28.0 and SmartPLS 4.0. This empirical study yields some significant results. First, OCE contributes significantly to continuance intention, followed by herd behaviour. Second, ease of use directly influences continuance intention and OCE but not herd behaviour. OCE plays a mediation role in transferring the effect of ease of use to herd behaviour. Third, we found OCE, one of the uncontrollable factors in social commerce, is critical within the consumer decision-making process. In contrast, ease of use plays a less significant contribution role as a controllable factor. The results of this study provide managerial implications to the social commerce adopters, who are targeting consumers with Chinese backgrounds around the world. The limitations and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

The increasing use and dependency on mobile devices and the widespread usage of Short Message Service or SMS communication have given rise to a new cybersecurity challenge: SMS phishing, informally known as "Smishing." Cybercriminals today use text messages to trick people into giving out personal information, downloading harmful software, or engaging in actions that compromise their digital security. This paper presents a research effort to uncover the complexities of smishing, analyze its tactics, outline the consequences for victims, and offer practical strategies to mitigate this evolving security threat. The effects of smishing are severe and have repercussions. Individuals who fall victim to these attacks may experience data breaches, identity theft, financial losses, and damage to their personal and professional reputations. Besides the visible losses, the emotional toll of being deceived and having one's personal information compromised can be significant.

The global significance of home security has escalated in recent years due to the surging demand for improved safety measures. Many residential properties lack adequate security measures, resulting in an increased occurrence of unauthorized access and theft. Contemporary security systems employ motion detectors and cameras, but they grapple with distinguishing between authorized individuals and potential intruders. Consequently, these systems often fail to identify and report suspicious activities to homeowners or relevant authorities. This study aims to design and implement an innovative residential security system that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. This novel system integrates object detection algorithms with camera technology to fortify residential security measures. Unlike traditional systems, this technology excels at detecting human movement, prompting camera activation for recording and image capture, thereby bolstering home security. Advanced AI models, such as deep learning, analyze various aspects, including movement patterns, gestures, and photographs, to differentiate between household members, guests, and potential intruders. By utilizing a convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm, the system enhances its ability to identify trespassers while reducing false alarms. Through visual surveillance, the security camera distinguishes between authorized individuals and unauthorized trespassers. The study's goal is to enhance residential security by offering unmatched reliability, convenience, and efficiency. The primary aim of this system is to augment domestic security through the precise identification of authorized and unauthorized individuals and the prompt notification of homeowners and authorities regarding any suspicious activities, such as break-ins or intrusions.

Late-life challenges, particularly for seniors, present significant socioeconomic and health-related complexity. Alzheimer's disease, the major cause of dementia in the elderly, causes progressive cognitive and memory decline. Although dementia becomes increasingly common with age, it is not a natural part of the process. Alzheimer's disease has about 55 million global sufferers, with 60% of them living in low- and middle-income countries. It accounts for 60-70% of dementia cases and presents as symptoms such as forgetfulness, confusion, impaired regular activities, and visual abnormalities. This study investigates the design and implementation of intelligent software designed for mild Alzheimer's patients, with features such as appointment scheduling and prescription reminders. Aimed at tackling hospital-related issues, the program proved efficient, assisting patients in managing appointments and drugs while being user-friendly for the elderly. The study emphasizes the critical role of technology in supporting mild Alzheimer's patients, with implications for health-care professionals and governments, particularly in places with a high prevalence of the condition.
