This study created a categorization model based on stunting episodes, separating stunting and non-stunting groups. Stunting is a persistent nutritional condition in toddlers who are shorter in height than other children their age. Data mining is one of the strategies used to extract knowledge from a large amount of big data and convert it into fresh data that can be understood as technology advances. The categorization model results provide a foundation for mapping the possibility of stunting events using the following methods: K-Nearest Neighbour, Logistic Regression, and Support Vector Machine (SVM). The proposed categorization model identifies stunting in toddlers from Pandeglang Regency, West Java, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The sample taken in this study consists of 798 children data. This study concludes that the three tests were successfully carried out, with data sharing ratios of 80%: 20%, 75%: 25%, and 70%: 30%, respectively. The model was repeated 100 times using a Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Logistic Regression (LR) and evaluated for precision, recall, f-1 score, and accuracy. The results of three experiments revealed that the best method is LR utilizing the chi-squared test feature selection, which achieved an accuracy of 85%.

This study investigates the quality and potential health risks associated with natural carbonated spring water taken in 2023 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, we conducted extensive physicochemical analyses to characterize the water, assessing mineral and ionic content, organoleptic properties, and potential contaminants of geological and anthropogenic origins. Subsequently, a deterministic human health risk assessment was undertaken for the ingestion of individual contaminants, while an integrated approach was used to assess the overall health risk from the consumption of this water by the local population. Surprisingly, despite its natural origin, the water exhibited elevated levels of fluoride (F-), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and iron (Fe), exceeding recommended health standards. Although, the presence of F- in concentration of 1.65 +/- 0.29 mg/L, Cd 0.07 +/- 0.01 mg/L, Pb 0.176 +/- 0.02 mg/L, and Fe 0.69 +/- 0.24 mg/L resulted in an acceptable individual health risk, the integrated approach revealed an increased risk associated with the consumption of the water (HQ = 2.28). This underscores the importance of adopting the integrated approach in health risk assessment, considering the additive effect of various contaminants. The study emphasizes the necessity for ongoing monitoring, regulatory measures, and public awareness to mitigate the identified health risks, ensuring the safe consumption of natural carbonated spring water from Tuzla.

Rehabilitation devices like exoskeletons may be useful to promote walking for children with cerebral palsy (CP). However, exoskeletons can generate discomfort to the children. The contribution of this paper is to propose a protocol adapted to children to simulate the wearing of an exoskeleton, and to develop a stress detection model for healthy children. This is a first step towards discomfort detection on CP children. Fifteen healthy children participated in three test conditions (fear of falling, fear of novelty, physical discomfort) through two independent measurement campaigns (2021 and 2022). Six children from 2021 were used on a machine learning model as training set and nine from 2022 constituted the test set. Only the fear of falling condition generated stress effectively on the children. Linear regression was used to detect stress with two heart rate features. The model achieved a balanced accuracy of 84.44% when applied on the test set.

The subject of health care is fundamental to all of us. However, logistic tasks performed in health care are becoming more and more important. One of the logistics issues is the medicinal product stocks management, the process of their preparation and delivering to the patient, and IT tools supporting these activities. The authors of this article conducted research among hospitals located in the territory of the Republic of Poland. 45 hospitals participated in the study, which allows the results to be representative. The CAWI method was used in the study. The Kruskal-Wallis method was used in the analysis of the results. The research objective of the article is to identify the impact of the three distinguished factors (stock replenishment system, organization of medicinal product dose preparation and IT systems used) on the percentage of medicinal product transferred for disposal due to expiry of the date and the time between the moment the medicinal product is delivered to the moment it is given to the patient. Six hypotheses were put forward in the study. The conducted research allows for setting conclusions about the factors influencing the percentage of medicinal product transferred for disposal due to expiry of the date and the time between the moment the medicinal product is delivered to the moment it is given to the patient. Significant factors include the adopted stock replenishment system and the organization of preparation of medicinal product administered to the patient. The provider of the IT system supporting these processes is an irrelevant factor.

Logical agents base their action selection decisions on inferences made over a logical knowledge base. Given a propositional logic knowledge base expressed in Conjunctive Normal Form (CNF), the knowledge can be converted into a geometrical format, and subsequent analysis takes place as geometrical operations on the feasible region in that representation. We present two novel methods based on this approach in order to: (1) find SAT solutions for the knowledge base (i.e., a truth assignment to each logical variable which makes the CNF sentence true), and (2) find a reasonable approximation to the atom probabilities given the current set of information. This allows agents to determine the semantics (truth) of the world as well as to estimate the probability of truth.

Engineering change management is an essential component in the development of products, requiring many resources and time. A usual problem is the lack of standardized activities and the inexistence of activity tracking, usually resulting in increased time to complete and costs. This research aimed to identify and propose improvements in these topics within a manufacturing company. The first proposal consists of a revised standard for the activities in each Engineering Change Request phase, suggesting when each one of the activities should be started, as well as the advisable action for the Project Manager (PM). Then, the second proposal is related to the Engineering Change Request deadlines compliance, with two possible approaches. Approach 1 suggests the dates tracking in an Excel file, while approach 2 suggests using Power BI dashboards. Both proposals are expected to improve the normal flow of activities, resulting in higher compliance with the planned deadlines and ultimately reducing cost and the implementation time of the change.

This study sought to develop a transparent machine learning model for network intrusion detection that domain experts would trust for security decision-making. Intrusion detection systems using machine learning have shown promise but often lack interpretability, undermining user trust and deployment. A hybrid Random Forest/XGBoost classifier achieved over 99% accuracy and F1 score, outperforming previous literature. Post-hoc LIME explanations provided feature effect transparency. Nine domain experts from technical roles then evaluated the model's reliability, explainability, and trustworthiness through a standardised process. While over half found the model reliable, one-third expressed uncertainty. Responses on performance explanations and trustworthiness assessments also varied thus suggesting opportunities to strengthen reliability communications and consolidate diverse perspectives. To optimise user confidence and model deployment, refinements targeting consistent explainability across audiences were proposed. Overall, high predictive performance validated effectiveness, but variable viewpoints from evaluations indicated the need to bolster reliability and trust explanations. With continued iterative evaluation and enhancements, this research framework holds promise for developing interpretable machine learning solutions trusted for complex security decision-making.

This study explores the application of anomaly detection (AD) methods in imbalanced learning tasks, focusing on fraud detection using real online credit card payment data. We assess the performance of several recent AD methods and compare their effectiveness against standard supervised learning methods. Offering evidence of distribution shift within our dataset, we analyze its impact on the tested models' performances. Our findings reveal that LightGBM exhibits significantly superior performance across all evaluated metrics but suffers more from distribution shifts than AD methods. Furthermore, our investigation reveals that LightGBM also captures the majority of frauds detected by AD methods. This observation challenges the potential benefits of ensemble methods to combine supervised, and AD approaches to enhance performance. In summary, this research provides practical insights into the utility of these techniques in real-world scenarios, showing LightGBM's superiority in fraud detection while highlighting challenges related to distribution shifts.

In this research paper, we examine the framework of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) to investigate the potential association between social engineers and an insider threat actors at Universite Nouveaux Horizons (UNH) in Lubumbashi, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Students use social engineering techniques to get access by convincing their colleagues, who become insider threat actors, to share their student ID cards to get access to school premises. In comparison, social engineers employ psychological manipulation to exploit human behavior, whereas insider threat actors utilize their authorized access to carry out harmful actions. Attempting to evaluate the impact of social engineering through insider threat actors in a crime prevention through an environmental design solution by scrutinizing the organization's physical and social environment. This involves examining data from existing access control system and system monitoring practices related to information security to identify possible vulnerabilities that could be exploited. This research clarifies the mechanisms by which a social engineer can evolve into an insider threat actions and recommends preventive measures based on CPTED strategies to reduce these vulnerabilities. By integrating insights from criminology, psychology, and organizational behavior, this investigation deepens our grasp of insider threat actors and offers practical advice for enhancing organizational security. The study employs binary logistic regression analysis to explore the influence of gender, method of entry, student classification, and faculty associated on a status as threat or not. The findings reveal notable impacts of gender, entry method and student category with a significance level of 5%, while the affiliation of the faculty does not demonstrate a significant effect.
