In today's era, the replacement of outdated public lighting systems remains a significant topic in many towns and cities across Central Europe. There are several approaches to tackling this replacement. Some municipalities prioritize lower cost, while others place a higher emphasis on quality. If a municipality decides to modernize its public lighting system with IoT elements, the debate arises on how to execute such a transformation. There are various methods available for connecting public lighting fixtures to the internet. This paper focuses on communication technologies such as LTE-M, RF (LoRa), and PLC, which are utilized in the municipality of Ivanka pri Dunaji. Each of these technologies has its advantages and disadvantages. The determination of the most suitable communication type for their specific needs is at the discretion of the relevant local government and its experts.

In recent years, deep learning algorithms have been developed for classifying atypical cells from liquid-based cytology images. Several studies have emphasized performance, with only a few addressing the interpretation and explanation of classification outcomes. Notably, the visualization of pertinent regions, which is essential for classification models, is pivotal for cytologists to trust and adopt AI-generated results. In this study, we explored the feasibility of visualizing the basis for classification by integrating the concepts of contrastive embedding and prototypical learning into an attention-based model. Consequently, the proposed model demonstrated superior classification performance and provided an informative visual explanation.

Residential high-rise buildings are the domain of large cities, urban agglomerations and metropolitan areas. The dynamic urbanization of the residential environment is resulting in increasingly dense population and development, which, unfortunately, is associated with limited access to housing resources for the average citizen. In this article, special interest is focused on the evaluation and categorization of the composition, functions and structures of residential high-rise buildings and their close surroundings (neighborhoods). The proposed application, based on the collected data about the customer, his needs and preferences arising from his personal life, professional work, educational needs, financial situation, etc., will give a preliminary answer as to whether the "indicated" apartment in a tall building meets his requirements and possibilities. This article is an attempt develop an application to classify European residential tall buildings and their living environment with a use of machine learning techniques and models. The presented assumptions of the application are a preliminary approach to the problem of supporting the process of finding housing (for rent or purchase) that meets the requirements of habitat.

Combining eco-friendly materials like wood fibers and biodegradable polymers, bio-composites offer exciting potential for sustainable innovation. However, printing these bio-composites using Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), presents challenges, and optimizing the printing process is crucial for high-quality, strong, and efficiently produced objects. This study explores the use of Support Vector Machine (SVM) regression for modeling and optimizing the FFF process with Wood/PLA composites as filament. By employing a full factorial plan and constructing 64 test cubes, the study unravels the complex relationships between printing parameters and critical outcomes like relative density and productivity. To capture non-linear dependencies, a cubic kernel function was used within the SVM model. Cross-validation with a value of 5 ensured generalizability and prevented overfitting to specific data subsets. The outcomes underscore the robust predictive capability of the model, substantiated by elevated R-squared values and precise predictions (indicated by low metric values) observed across both validation and test datasets. Furthermore, the Newton-Raphson method identified the optimal printing parameters that maximize both relative density and productivity (calculated as a portion of volume built in a second). The optimal setting was found with a nozzle temperature of 205 degrees C, a printing speed of approximately 87 mm/s, and a layer height of approximately 1.5 mm.

The Model-driven architecture (MDA) represents a software engineering approach designed to enhance the productivity and quality of software development by using models and transformations. In this paper, we propose a new MDA technic for developing smart tourism web applications, which are applications that provide personalized and interactive services to tourists. This approach consists of three main steps: (1) defining a platform-independent model (PIM) that captures the functional requirements and the domain model of smart tourism, based on the 6 As of tourism;(2) defining a platform-specific model (PSM) that specifies the architectural design of the web application, based on PHP as the programming language and clean architecture as the architectural style;and (3) applying model transformations to generate the source code of the web application from the PSM, using XSLT as the transformation language. We showcase the feasibility and effectiveness of this work by applying it to a case study of a smart tourism web application that allows tourists to explore and book various attractions and activities in a city. We also discuss the benefits and challenges of this approach, as well as some directions for future work.

Over the past two decades, the e-commerce sector experienced substantial growth as customers recognized the numerous benefits of online shopping. While providing plenty of benefits for customers, e-commerce growth affected businesses as well. Online stores offer myriad possibilities for businesses to improve their sales, while they also represent an excellent opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to grow their businesses. Several drivers of the overall online store success are found in literature: quality of online shopping experience, security, website quality, ease of use, value in terms of the product choice and prices, website reputation and the process of trust building with customers. In addition to buyers' trust, the sellers' trust plays an important role in the continuity of their use of online marketplaces. Since the existing literature predominantly deals with the perspective of customers, the focus of this study is on the presentation of challenges concerning business and success factors for online stores. The paper presents the findings conducted in 2023 on a sample of 162 online store owners from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The findings confirm some of the findings from literature, but also provide a specific overview of online sellers' perceptions across different categories.

This study uses three different methods to analyse the spatial distributions of video conferencing, namely circular, random, and uniform. These services come in various quantities and are put up in real-time application configurations at particular percentages. The study's objective is to offer customers or users an evaluation that suggests appropriate network designs and technologies while maximizing available network resources and preventing unneeded disruptions. To do this, a special method for choosing the best network topologies for mixed applications has been created. The study takes into account a number of variables, such as node counts ranging from one to sixty-five and room sizes ranging from three by two meters to fourteen by ten meters. Network performance is assessed using Quality of Service (QoS) measurements such as latency, jitter, bandwidth, and packet loss. Additionally, the study follows the established acceptable limits for QoS measurements in video conferencing systems. The study attempts to offer useful advice for optimizing network setups to ensure optimal performance for VideoConferencing services by taking into account these indicators and adherence to industry standards.

The digital revolution in the technology industry is leading towards Industry 5.0, resulting in significant changes in the future of work, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). To ensure a successful industrial transition, it is crucial for employees to acquire the necessary skills and competencies. In this vein, the present study aimed to investigate the impact of digital and sustainable transformation on the required skills and competencies of employees in SMEs. A literature review was conducted to gather scientific data through a qualitative analysis. The study findings indicate that SMEs are placing increasing importance on transversal, technical, and green competency fields. Furthermore, the research indicated that SMEs can enhance their employees' capabilities by offering appropriate training programs. By employing competency forecasting techniques, SMEs can recognize skill shortcomings and equip their workforce with the necessary skills for future requirements.

Rising material costs, growing pollution, and the consequences of climate change have made circular economy popular. Its core principle is to use the value embedded in resources more than once for economic and ecological reasons. Learning factories can be used to promote this concept in engineering education. A particularly interesting application involves use cases where waste can be utilized immediately within the learning facility. This paper compares the currently used 3D printing with a simple transfer molding process that enables the direct recycling of rejects. For this purpose, several measured and calculated metrics, such as resource consumption and (environmental) costs, were considered to evaluate the performance of the two manufacturing technologies. For the present use case in a specific learning factory, transfer molding proved to be the preferred technology.
