Engineering change management is an essential component in the development of products, requiring many resources and time. A usual problem is the lack of standardized activities and the inexistence of activity tracking, usually resulting in increased time to complete and costs. This research aimed to identify and propose improvements in these topics within a manufacturing company. The first proposal consists of a revised standard for the activities in each Engineering Change Request phase, suggesting when each one of the activities should be started, as well as the advisable action for the Project Manager (PM). Then, the second proposal is related to the Engineering Change Request deadlines compliance, with two possible approaches. Approach 1 suggests the dates tracking in an Excel file, while approach 2 suggests using Power BI dashboards. Both proposals are expected to improve the normal flow of activities, resulting in higher compliance with the planned deadlines and ultimately reducing cost and the implementation time of the change.

Logical agents base their action selection decisions on inferences made over a logical knowledge base. Given a propositional logic knowledge base expressed in Conjunctive Normal Form (CNF), the knowledge can be converted into a geometrical format, and subsequent analysis takes place as geometrical operations on the feasible region in that representation. We present two novel methods based on this approach in order to: (1) find SAT solutions for the knowledge base (i.e., a truth assignment to each logical variable which makes the CNF sentence true), and (2) find a reasonable approximation to the atom probabilities given the current set of information. This allows agents to determine the semantics (truth) of the world as well as to estimate the probability of truth.

In this work we will compare 2 of the most common forms of energy compensation in order to determine which is the best option, we will analyze the normal mode, where the engineering analysis is used and the other mode which makes use of the K-factor table, both are used for energy compensation, but we are looking for a way to do it in an easier, faster and more efficient way, also, we will present the comparison of before and after the compensation of capacitor banks using the above methods and thus achieve highlight the effectiveness and efficiency of using the K-factor table.

This paper aims to analyze and identify the most promising opportunities for Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in the Power systems (PS) domain. It identifies major challenges faced in PS and explores the corresponding technical tasks: forecasting and optimal control. Then, the paper investigates the key AI techniques commonly employed in PS for these tasks, e.g. reinforcement learning (RL) and time series forecasting. It also highlights promising methods with great potential in advancing PS solutions: attention-based models (Transformers, LLMs) and explainable AI (XAI) approaches. This study's primary contribution lies in identifying critical research gaps in AI for PS, highlighting areas where research and development may have the biggest impact. Additionally, the paper provides a structured literature overview, serving as a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners in the field.

The subject of health care is fundamental to all of us. However, logistic tasks performed in health care are becoming more and more important. One of the logistics issues is the medicinal product stocks management, the process of their preparation and delivering to the patient, and IT tools supporting these activities. The authors of this article conducted research among hospitals located in the territory of the Republic of Poland. 45 hospitals participated in the study, which allows the results to be representative. The CAWI method was used in the study. The Kruskal-Wallis method was used in the analysis of the results. The research objective of the article is to identify the impact of the three distinguished factors (stock replenishment system, organization of medicinal product dose preparation and IT systems used) on the percentage of medicinal product transferred for disposal due to expiry of the date and the time between the moment the medicinal product is delivered to the moment it is given to the patient. Six hypotheses were put forward in the study. The conducted research allows for setting conclusions about the factors influencing the percentage of medicinal product transferred for disposal due to expiry of the date and the time between the moment the medicinal product is delivered to the moment it is given to the patient. Significant factors include the adopted stock replenishment system and the organization of preparation of medicinal product administered to the patient. The provider of the IT system supporting these processes is an irrelevant factor.

In the article, an alternative approach to estimating parameters in nonlinear regression models under asymmetric error distributions is examined. A novel approach for adaptive estimation is proposed, which is based on the use of second-order polynomial functions. This enables a straightforward implementation to account for deviations from Gaussian idealization in the form of moments up to the fourth order. It is demonstrated that the overall problem can algorithmically be reduced to the numerical solution of a system of nonlinear stochastic equations. Analytical expressions are obtained, which facilitate the estimation of parameters and the analysis of their asymptotic variance. Statistical modeling using the Monte Carlo method was conducted, and the results indicate that the accuracy of PMM2 estimates is comparable to SLS estimates and significantly so exceeds the accuracy of OLS estimates.

Nonverbal communication is essential in interpersonal interactions, and facial expressions are the primary means. The Facial Expression Recognition system is a technique for assessing a person's emotional state based on their facial expressions. The VGG16 model with Transfer Learning is utilized in the facial expression recognition system that has been suggested. The image processing is the foundation of the proposed system, which also includes acquiring images in real-time. The performance of the suggested technique in terms of recognition will be evaluated depending on whether or not it can recognize a single face or many faces simultaneously. After that, data streaming is carried out, during which the recognized face is shown inside the rectangular boxes using the tensor flow library. After the coordinates of the identified faces have been determined, extracting the necessary characteristics from the original movie is possible. You will need the image scaled down and converted to grayscale to identify the emotion on its face. After the facial expression is identified, the next step is categorizing it. At long last, emotions will be recognized due to the combination of data pertaining to face detection and recognition of facial expressions. The suggested model achieves an accuracy of 88% when applied to the JAFFE database, whereas CK+ achieves 77%.

The Una National Park is one of the most important centers of biodiversity in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to its preserved landscape and the wild river Una it has become an attractive destination for tourists and a major driver of tourism for the region of Una Sana Canton. However, this trend has brought numerous threats, especially to water and coastal habitats. The aim of this work was to answer questions about the trends in biodiversity protection in the national park and downstream, identifying threats and future challenges. Special attention was given to researching pressures stemming from increasing tourist activities. It was determined that, beyond general economic threats, the water ecosystem is threatened by the tourism intensity, seasonality, and accommodation density on the riverbanks. The main challenges are spatial planning in the Una river's coastal zone and beyond, restricting construction until the carrying capacity of that area is defined, wherein water quality and biodiversity must limit activities on and around the water.

The navigation problem of autonomous vehicles in unstructured environments entails the ability of autonomous vehicle to plan an obstacle-free path in real-time between a sequence of waypoints. While there are several path planners in the literature based on optimization, sampling, and geometry, none of them are designed considering the most commonly used sensors, which currently utilize polar coordinates such as LIDAR and RADAR. Inspired by that, this work proposes an algorithm based on computational geometry to path planning step for autonomous vehicle navigation in unstructured environments. The proposed algorithm was evaluated in simulation and its results were compared following the BARN standardized metrics with classical methods. The proposed method achieves the lowest processing time whilst maintaining comparable performance results on the spatial-related metrics. It also outperforms the others on the dispersion metric, suggesting it is a more robust method with more planning options for complex environments.

This paper investigates the possibility of communication between the digital twin of a cyber-physical system and a PLC emulator via the OPC UA interface. A cyber-physical system, CPS for short, is a system that connects the physical hardware part with the cyber part, which represents the system control, software or various algorithms. In our case, we used the CPS systemMPS 203I4.0 from Festo Didactic and the digital twin model was created in the NX Mechatronics Concept Designer (NX MCD) environment. Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) is an important tool for communication between the two platforms and a secure open standard for communication between devices, defined as machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, where we use a platform from Rockwell Allen Bradley. The aim of this study is to investigate, test and evaluate the success of communication between the different components of an application whether such a system has some limitations with respect to the types of signals and data. Because of the investigation, it was found that communication was successful across all platforms, different signals were tested, but only specific data types worked on the digital twin side, which is due to the NX MCD software itself.
