This chapter is focused on the Sentiment Analysis for Moroccan Arabic dialect text, which is collected from social media platforms. The focus will be to achieve close-to-optimal accuracies for a large dataset of 70,332 entries by using different techniques for feature extraction and machine learning approaches. In doing so, and considering the linguistic complexities in nature and paucity of labeled data for the Arabic dialect context-indeed presenting unique challenges-a host of approaches will be investigated within this chapter to drive sentiment analysis accuracy: TF-IDF, Bag of Words (BOW), Word2Vec, and FastText;also including all Machine learning classification algorithms. One critical part of this study involves the utilization of stemming through Tashaphyne (ArabicLightStemmer), which reduces word variations and improves classification. The findings will contribute to better advancement of sentiment analysis of Moroccan Arabic dialect, offering ample insight useful for social media analytics and linguistic research applications and setting a foundation for future tasks in similar linguistic and computational contexts.

With big data becoming increasingly available, IoT hardware becoming widely adopted, and AI capabilities becoming more powerful, organizations are continuously investing in sensing. Data coming from sensor networks are currently combined with sensor fusion and AI algorithms to drive innovation in fields such as self-driving cars. Data from these sensors can be utilized in numerous use cases, including alerts in safety systems of urban settings, for events such as gun shots and explosions. Moreover, diverse types of sensors, such as sound sensors, can be utilized in low-light conditions or at locations where a camera is not available. This paper investigates the potential of the utilization of sound-sensor data in an urban context. Technically, we propose a novel approach of classifying sound data using theWigner-Ville distribution and Convolutional Neural networks. The Wigner-Ville distribution has not been considered in similar applications in literature. In this paper, we report on the performance of the approach on open-source datasets. The concept and work presented is based on my doctoral thesis, which was performed as part of the Engineering Doctorate program in Data Science at the University of Eindhoven, in collaboration with the Dutch National Police. Additional work on real-world datasets was performed during the thesis, which is not presented here due to confidentiality.

Mathematical fuzzy logic focuses on fuzzy functions for logical formulas whereas the core of fuzzy systems is fuzzy facts and rules specifying properties of concrete predicates and functions. The gap between them is bridged by representing fuzzy facts and rules as nonlogical axioms in intuitionistic and intermediate sequent calculi. Inference in these calculi extended with fuzzy nonlogical axioms is sound with respect to fuzzy Godel models. If a formula is derivable, then a lower bound of its truth value is calculated from the derivation tree. Inference in these calculi is complete for atoms whose truth values are positive. Inference in Godel-Dummett calculus remains complete for valid formulas even in presence of nonlogical axioms.

In this study, we investigate the usability of the sparse identification of nonlinear dynamics (SINDy) algorithm in modeling the mechanisms of coastal and port hydrodynamic processes. In the SINDy approach, the primary goal is to explain the drift paths of objects and particles determined through computational or measurement techniques with a minimal number of sparse component ordinary differential equations. We reconstruct the drift paths and time series by analyzing Lagrangian drifter data obtained through a floating buoy in the Pacific Ocean. With the obtained data, we specifically examine the applicability of the SINDy algorithm in modeling hydrodynamic effects in coastal and port hydrodynamics. We propose that the SINDy-based algorithmic approach can quickly and accurately predict region-specific coastal and port hydrodynamics equations in events and disasters of the specified type. Also, an assessment is provided about the practical applications, usage areas, and potential research areas related to our findings.

To build robust secure channels for information exchange, distributed computing systems must generate and handle high-entropy secret keys. However, solutions to generate those high-entropy keys such as Physical Unclonable Functions or sensing devices are very dependent on the environment and the hardware performance. Thus, keys may not achieve the expected entropy or show uncontrolled behaviors that may prevent communicating remote nodes to synchronize with a shared key. Therefore, new solutions are needed to enable distributed computing nodes to generate high-entropy keys in a lightweight, consistent, and robust manner. In this paper we propose a federated algorithm to address this challenge. Remote nodes are provided with different physical devices to initialize with a random configuration a Fibonacci random number generator. The parameter set describing the configuration of the key generator is locally encoded using a gradient function and sent to an edge computing manager where different encoded configurations coming from different remote nodes are collected. The edge computing manager combines all these configurations considering different weights and an optimization target function based on the definition of mutual information. An experimental validation is also provided. Simulation tools are employed, and results show the long-term average entropy increases up to 23% when using the proposed solution.

To optimize wind farms in northern Morocco, a validated approach based on the two-parameter Weibull distribution is used to assess the wind potential of a wind farm in TETOUAN over one year. With a total capacity of 120 MW and 40 turbines of 3 MW each, the maximum likelihood method is chosen to estimate the Weibull parameters, utilizing wind measurements taken every 10min. Recalculated power densities, compared to actual measurements, reduce forecast errors, highlighting significant deficiencies in turbines WTG 30 and WTG 33 due to orientation issues. In conclusion, the use of Weibull and rigorous statistical analysis optimizes the performance of wind farms, crucial for the sustainable exploitation of wind energy in the region.

This paper aims at investigating the leading mechanisms responsible for the phantom limb syndrome in amputees. Besides thesocial stigmatization that the majority of amputees experience in daily life, there is also the less known problem of the so-calledphantom pain which affects between 76% and 87% of patients post-amputation. The latter is a consequence of a disrupted internalbody representation and is often overlooked when designing prosthetic devices for amputees. We will investigate qualitatively and quantitatively the manner in which the movement andsensorimotor control are affected by the phantom pain during training to restore the muscle tone in remaining body sections. The outcomes should be relevant for both scientific and clinical perspectives ofphantom limb pain treatment as well as smart prosthetic development. As the mechanism behind phantom limb syndrome is not yet fully understood, this project will make a great contribution in that direction, especially in the area of rehabilitation devicedevelopment.

This study proposes implementing a comprehensive framework for digital infrastructure, designed for securing large Enterprise networks. This study aims to analyze the existing mechanisms for preventing emerging cyber-attacks by analyzing the patterns associated with potential cyber-attacks, leading insights for future behavior and detection of those attacks, with the use of customized open-source security tools and the development of a few new tools and self-developed scripts/code for centralized solution for infrastructure security needs. This research further proposes data analysis approaches and tools to evaluate datasets derived from Honeynets and from actual servers/machines, specifically focusing on attackers and malicious traffic from hosts. The ultimate goal is to provide additional critical information to IT and security administrators i.e.: motives behind attacks, communication methods, attack mechanism, the timing of system attacks, and the subsequent actions performed by attackers after compromising a system.

In this paper, we propose a new cancellation intervention system to minimize possible revenue loss of business entity in tourism sector from last-minute booking cancellation. The proposed system automatically sends e-reminders to travelers who are most likely to cancel their bookings using calibrated prediction models on the subsets of bookings with different lead times. In particular, cost-sensitive learning methods with varying class weights in machine learning community are adopted to overcome hurdles from imbalanced class distributions. Finally, this study introduces cumulative gain charts to provide general guidelines on how to maximize the expected benefits from the proposed system.

The automotive industry, as one of China's major energy-consuming sectors, plays a crucial role in carbon emission control. In October 2021, the State Council issued the "Carbon Peaking Action Plan before 2030," which clearly pointed out that it is necessary to promote the low-carbon transformation of transportation equipment, vigorously promote new energy vehicles, and gradually reduce the consumption of traditional fuel vehicles in new car production and sales as well as the proportion of car ownership. This paper utilizes methods based on the principal-agent theory to quantitatively analyze how the Chinese government accelerates the construction of green transportation infrastructure. It also applies the green and low-carbon concept throughout the entire process of transportation infrastructure planning, construction, operation, and maintenance, aiming to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions throughout the life cycle. In the end, detailed case studies and observations will be presented.
