The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of online learning, posing challenges for students, particularly in programming education. This paper explores the prevalent issue of source code plagiarism among novice programmers using Python. Recognizing the broader implications of SCP as a symptom rather than the core issue, the study aims to answer how educational settings can be designed to leverage AI as a learning tool rather than a threat to academic integrity. The theoretical grounding delves into the evolving landscape of generative AI tools capable of providing coding solutions, raising concerns about their impact on learning outcomes. Novice programming students are introduced to Python 3, where emphasis is placed on structured programming and error navigation. Source code plagiarism is examined, distinguishing between elementary adjustments and structural alterations. To address source code plagiarism, the study employs the Iceberg Model, unveiling layers beyond the visible event level. The research design adopts a mixed-method approach, utilizing the Measure of Software Similarity (Moss) tool for source code plagiarism detection, a questionnaire, as well as students' final scores. Findings indicate a decline in plagiarism instances across assignments, suggesting a learning curve. Student challenges, including time management, programming background, and technical issues, are identified through a comprehensive analysis. Recommendations emphasize the importance of awareness, integration of supporting tools in the learning management system, and educating students and tutors on ethical coding practices. The paper proposes the use of generative AI tools for guided assistance rather than direct code generation and advocates for reporting and tracking source code plagiarism cases, ensuring that students understand the ethical implications of transgressions and are allowed to learn from mistakes. At present it has become increasingly feasible to access popular multimedia contents (e.g., Netflix, Hulu, Disney, YouTube) by using set-top boxes such as Apple TV, FireTV, and game consoles such as XBox One, PS5 and Wii U. The input hardware provided by these devices made it possible to work with multimedia material in a natural way. In order to create an educational film system that allows playful interaction with educational video content, this study mimics some of the setups provided by these well-known platforms. The characters of award-winning educational TV shows like Mickey Mouse ClubHouse, WordWorld, Super Why, and others pose learning-based questions using diverse circumstances, and viewers discover the solutions while they wait. The film in our prototype is set up with learning questions at various intervals, allowing for interaction opportunities that promote active audience participation. The learners enter the right answers while interacting with the questions throughout those allotted timescales using Wii pointMe or Kinect gesture-based interactions. In order to test the viability of the suggested learning movie system, we also conduct tests in a smart learning environment and present our results.

The field of learning analytics (LA) has garnered significant interest in recent times due to the large amount of student data available for the purpose of monitoring, documenting, storing, and analyzing. There is a prevailing belief that the enhancement of learning and teaching can alone be accomplished via easy access and comprehensive examination of appropriate information. The issue of information privacy in the context of learning analytics raises concerns among students, who play a significant role as both important stakeholders and data subjects. These worries arise from the possibility of their data being exploited. The objective of this study is to analyze the extent to which higher education institutions (HEI) in the Republic of Croatia emphasize the safeguarding of students' privacy. Privacy protection was viewed from two perspectives. The first viewpoint focuses on the measures put in place by institutions to protect the information they acquire about students. Organizational and technical measures are included. Another viewpoint refers to the institution's awareness of possible technologies that might be employed for education, such as IoT-based services. The findings of a cross-case analysis of universities and faculties show that technical criteria like accountability and information security are either partially or entirely unfulfilled. The results obtained at the faculty level are noticeably lower than university results, indicating the relevance of organizational adjustments, particularly in developing privacy policies and adhering to basic principles. Because HEI in Croatia are still not technologically aware enough to deploy IoT-based services, no specific privacy regulations have been developed.

Accurate skin detection is vital in various applications of computer vision, including medical imaging, human-computer interaction, and facial recognition. Yet, delineating non-skin pixels from skin ones remains challenging due to diverse skin tones and lighting conditions. To this purpose, we introduce an innovative hybrid skin detection approach in HSV and YCbCr color spaces. The proposed method utilizes multiple 3D volumes to represent skin colors' distribution. It employs Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN) [1] to cluster skin colors' distribution. For each cluster, we create statistical chrominance models at different luminance levels, as color distribution is not luminance-invariant. B-spline curve fitting generates 3D volumes by interpolating these models. Gradient descent optimizes the B-spline parameters for improved skin color distribution capture. Our method was evaluated using the SFA dataset and demonstrated highly satisfying qualitative and quantitative results against other hybrid and rule-based methods.

Anomaly detection has recently become essential in the context of human activity recognition, especially with emerging technologies like the Internet of Things and smart environments. These technologies are key contributors to data streams, generating vast quantities of continuous data across various applications. Nevertheless, the ever-changing characteristics of these data streams present ongoing challenges that remain to be addressed to understand and interpret the predictions. Providing clear explanations for detected anomalies is crucial for trust and usability, especially in critical applications like healthcare. In an effort to address this challenge, we have employed various traditional machine-learning approaches such as SVM, KNN, DT, and RF alongside XAI techniques like LIME. This combination will be used to show the efficacy of traditional ML methods and to explain the prediction process of anomaly detection, offering insights into how these technologies can be effectively applied to multimodal sensor data. The results demonstrated that SVM, RF, and DT achieved an accuracy of 0.95, while KNN achieved an accuracy of 0.94. In the future, we aim to explore the integration of deep learning techniques with XAI to enhance the interpretability and transparency of human activity recognition models. By incorporating XAI methods, we seek to provide insights into the decision-making process of deep learning models, enabling users to understand the reasoning behind the detected anomalies and increasing trust in the system's outputs.

Second harmonic generation (SHG) using metasurfaces with controlled optical properties is an active area of research in photonics and optics. The work shows that the use of metasurfaces with controlled optical properties makes it possible to control and enhance SHG. For example, a change in the geometry of the metasurface can lead to an increase in the nonlinear polarizability of the substance and, consequently, to more efficient generation of the second harmonic. In addition, metasurfaces can be designed in such a way as to ensure phase consistency of the second harmonic wave, which also helps to increase the SHG efficiency. Thus, the use of metasurfaces with controlled optical properties represents a promising approach for creating efficient and compact frequency-doubled light sources. This could have important practical applications in optical communications, laser technology, and other areas that require highly efficient generation of light in the visible and near-infrared ranges. #CSOC1120

Data analysis and prediction play a key role in medical diagnosis and decision making. This paper investigates the effectiveness of two data analysis methods, decision tree and Kohonen maps, in the context of thyroid cancer. The study is based on 383 patients and includes analysis of various factors. The results indicate the potential of both methods in accurately predicting disease risk, patient gender and likelihood of recurrence. The decision tree is characterized by its ease of interpretation, while Kohonen maps have the ability to reveal complex dependencies in the data. In conclusion, the article emphasizes the importance of choosing an appropriate data analysis method to achieve accurate and interpretable results.

In this paper, we present docking performance using only the ultrasonic sensor and docking performance by fusing ultrasonic and object recognition data. In an autonomous mobile robot, the angle is calculated using only ultrasonic data, and the resulting position error rate is docked by fusing the ultrasonic sensor and the object recognition data, and the resulting position error rate is compared. Through this experiment, we confirmed the improvement of the position error rate of the two experiments.

Electric vehicles charging infrastructures can have a significant impact on the power grid. Statistical analysis of the charging behavior of PEVs is necessary for planning and operation of public charging stations to evaluate the impact of the rapid deployment of PEVs and charging infrastructure on the power grid and to evaluate their potential benefits for future microgrids, especially in regulated (non-liberalized) electricity markets. This paper evaluates the impact of plug-in electric vehicles load and V2G (Vehicle to Grid) on the Moroccan distribution network at different EVs penetration scenarios. Simulation is carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK. Results shows that the high penetration of EVs (Electric Vehicles) in Morocco might have a significant negative impact on the grid stability, but V2G might be an effective solution for energy dependance in the Kingdom. Results will also enable Moroccan utility company ONEE (National Office of Electricity and Water) anticipate the charging demand of PEV customers, as well as the impact on the electric grid as PEV penetration rates increase.

In the domain of embedded and real-time systems, the need to adapt existing real-time operating systems (RTOS) to the RISC-V architecture becomes increasingly pressing. This paper presents a comprehensive exploration of the challenges and strategies involved in porting a real-time operating system to the RISC-V platform. The research delves into the fundamental architecture of RISC-V, highlighting its unique features and extensibility, which create a flexible environment for RTOS adaptation. It discusses the benefits and drawbacks of RISC-V as a target platform for real-time applications and how it compares with other architectures. The process of porting a real-time operating system to RISC-V is dissected, detailing the intricacies of instruction set architecture (ISA) compatibility, system calls, and device driver adaptation. The paper also addresses issues related to task scheduling, multi-tasking, and memory management, crucial for achieving real-time performance on the RISC-V platform. RISC-V based ESP32 was used as microcontroller to port freeRtos.
