Agriculture is a paramount source of revenue and sustenance worldwide. In India, for instance, 58% of the population lives off agriculture. On top of that, a range of 20% to 40% of global harvests are lost yearly to pests and illnesses. Crop safety relies on early and precise plant disease identification. Early plant disease detection may save yields and reduce starvation and expenditure. In India's regions, rice is farmed as a staple. Diseases have a severe damaging influence on rice harvests, resulting in considerable losses for the agricultural business. Typically, identification is performed by visual inspection or laboratory analysis. While the lab test is time-consuming and may not yield rapid results, visual observation requires expertise and is prone to viewers' subjectivity. Accurate and reliable methods to diagnose rice plant sickness are highly wanted by plant pathologists. In this regard, the visual domain is critical to implementing automatic identification systems to catch plant diseases timely using machine learning techniques. In this work, we propose a reliable convolution neural network-based approach for identifying illnesses in rice plants. Two well-known rice diseases caused by fungus, such as leaf blasts and leaf brown, have been investigated. Therefore, the data is separated into blast, brown, and healthy. The blast category comprises 2988 photos, with Brown and Healthy counting 2988 and 1532 samples. This work offers a comprehensive assessment of CNN-based methods relying on transfer learning paradigm over rice plant disease classification tasks.

Biofeedback is a promising tool to complement conventional physical therapy by fostering active participation of neurologically impaired patients during treatment. This work aims at a user-centered design and usability assessment for different age groups of a novel wearable augmented reality application composed of a multimodal sensor network and corresponding control strategies for personalized biofeedback during gait training. The proposed solution includes wearable AR glasses that deliver visual cues controlled in real-time according to mediolateral center of mass position, sagittal ankle angle, or tibialis anterior muscle activity from inertial and EMG sensors. Control strategies include positive and negative reinforcement conditions and are based on the user's performance by comparing real-time sensor data with an automatically user-personalized threshold. The proposed solution allows ambulatory practice on daily scenarios, physiotherapists' involvement through a laptop screen, and contributes to further benchmark biofeedback regarding the type of sensor. Although old healthy adults with low academic degrees have a preference for guidance from an expert person, excellent usability scores (SUS scores: 81.25-96.87) were achieved with young and middle-aged healthy adults and one neurologically impaired patient.

Quantum image processing is mainly used in quantum computing and quantum information processing to create and manipulate quantum images. Due to the quantum physics properties, entanglement, and parallelism, the quantum image processing technologies will offer capabilities and performance that exceed their traditional counterparts in terms of computational speed, security, and minimum storage requirements. Detecting the edges in an image significantly reduces the amount of data by preserving information that can be considered more relevant. In image processing, edge detection is used to identify pixels in an image that correspond to an abrupt change in light intensity. These changes in the properties of the digital image indicate important structural elements in the object being depicted. This work demonstrates that the Roberts cross-edge detection method used in classical images can also be used in quantum images to highlight intensity changes. We implemented and tested the quantum circuits on the IBM Quantum Experience platform and on a local virtual quantum simulator.

Each year, universities and colleges assess the rates of success in order to improve the academic performance and failure rates of students. Different techniques, including statistical analysis, physical examinations, and in-course data mining are employed to determine these rates. This paper implements an educational data mining approach, which examines large data sets, in order to extricate important information that will enable to optimize students' academic and physical life. We consider data concerning their performance, class behavior, activity participation, and other traits. The data is harvested through the KNIME platform and other algorithms.

The spread of additive manufacturing and the adoption of 3D printers have generated a sudden adaptation of teaching methodologies in education. In the manufacturing sphere, 3D printing has called for innovation in the criteria and systems required to transmit skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). In this innovative context, the lack of teaching guidelines and the evident presence of certain criticalities in training activities in the field of 3D printing are highlighted. In this research project, the most widespread criticalities are identified and a matryoshka model with a holistic view of the entire ecosystem of educational activities in the field of additive manufacturing is proposed. Such a model allows for an immediate identification and subsequent assignment of criticalities to each of the process steps and consequent opportunity for resolution, allowing for an ex-ante design or resetting of the course in an exemplified and flexible form.

The escalating global increase in greenhouse gas emissions demands immediate solutions to curb this environmental threat. Electric vehicles have emerged as a practical remedy, albeit with specific constraints aimed at promoting their widespread adoption. Introducing wireless charging for electric vehicles addresses the time constraints associated with their adoption, offering a contactless recharging technology between the power source and the vehicle. However, practical limitations may preclude the installation of induction charging technology in certain areas. To address this challenge, we examine two modes of electric vehicle charging: dynamic and static. We present a mathematical model designed to optimize the planning of charging infrastructure for both modes. This optimization encompasses the strategic placement of wireless charging systems for dynamic scenarios and stations for static modes to facilitate the mobility of a diverse fleet of vehicles with varying battery capacities within the network. Our objectives in this study revolve around minimizing the count of power transmitters, which directly impacts infrastructure costs, and maximizing the lifespan of electric vehicle batteries, given their pivotal role in vehicle performance.
