We present an AI-based ecosystem simulator that uses three-dimensional models of the terrain and animal models controlled by deep reinforcement learning. The simulations take place in a game engine environment, which enables continuous visual observation of the ecosystem model. The terrain models are generated from geographic data with altitudes and land cover type. The animal models combine three-dimensional conformation models with animation schemes and decision-making mechanisms trained with deep reinforcement learning in increasingly complex environments (curriculum learning). We show how AI tools of this kind can be used for modeling the development of specific ecosystems with and without different forms of economic activities. In particular, we show how they might be used for modeling local biodiversity effects of land cover change, exploitation of natural resources, pollution, invasive species, and climate change.

Recently, low-cost dual-frequency receivers have been evaluated in various positioning applications due to their high-precision capabilities at an affordable cost, positioning them as viable alternatives to high-end geodetic GNSS devices. This research focused on the implementation of a GNSS base station with a Real-time kinematic (RTK) receiver for topographical applications. RTK differential corrections were configured using the u-blox ZED-F9P module, and tests demonstrated their effectiveness in providing accurate measurements in diverse environments. To validate the results, a commercial module was used, and the comparison showed insignificant errors in measurements. Therefore, this study promotes the adoption of low-cost dual-frequency GNSS receivers as viable solutions for high-precision topographical applications.

Design and real-time control of hydrostatic bearings (HS) demand accurate models capable of reliably predicting bearing behavior under varying operational conditions. Analytical models have proven insufficient to estimate key parameters such as carrying capacity, recess pressure, film thickness, or flow rate simultaneously. To address this limitation, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has emerged as a valuable tool in recent years. However, the accuracy of operational data measurements, used to set numerical and analytical models, plays a significant role in uncertainty propagation. This study concerns an experimental campaign and the development of aCFD model in the OpenFOAM((R)) environment. To reproduce the experimental conditions, numerical and analytical models are set using different input parameters, i.e. flow rate or recess pressure, considering extreme operational conditions tied to the accuracy of experimental data. Results reveal that, while average CFD values exhibit consistent errors in estimating operational parameters, experimental and numerical uncertainty ranges overlap under the investigated operational conditions. In contrast, analytical estimation leads to clear discrepancies, even when considering measurement uncertainties. Furthermore, concerning carrying capacity estimation, recess pressure emerges as the input parameter yielding more satisfactory results. The findings emphasize the importance of considering measurement uncertainties in setting numerical and analytical models for HS bearings, providing valuable insights for their accurate design and real-time control.

People are living longer and consequently increasingly needing more care. The willing of these elders to maintain their independence can be dangerous and a burden for their family and caregivers. Current research focuses on maintaining cognitive function and preventing disability to enhance life quality and independence in elders. Identifying individuals at risk for cognitive decline is crucial since early intervention is more effective for those with relatively good functional status. Geriatric assessments are comprehensive evaluations of elders' functional and cognitive status. They often focus on the elders' independence in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) for identifying treatable problems. Clinicians primarily use self-reported tests to assess IADL performance in elders. However, these tests can be time-consuming, produce stress on the patient and administered too late for effective rehabilitation. This paper proposes a novel IADL evaluation method using an adapted version of the currently performed questionnaires on IADLs independence deployed using Conversational Agents (CAs) to administer them to the elder at home. The CA enables home-based evaluations, reducing anxiety and providing a cost-effective monitoring tool. Integrating Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) systems with the CA enhances assessment precision by correlating sensor data with CA evaluations, offering a comprehensive and adaptive approach to elder care. Information obtained from sensors in AAL environments can be used as feedback to conduct and adapt the questionnaires done by the CA to the current needs and problems faced by the elder.

A new approach to control and interact with autonomous mobile robots via a head-mounted Augmented Reality device is presented. Such robots are often used for highly repetitive tasks, however, in small and medium-sized enterprises, tasks are often non-repetitive. In such cases, the programming of mobile robots is neither time nor cost-efficient. Hence, a direct human-machine interaction was developed, connecting an Omron LD-90 with a Microsoft HoloLens 2 via a cloud-based communication. Users can send inputs to the mobile robot using voice commands or select from a pre-defined set of actions. The robot will execute the task and send feedback to the HoloLens about its position and other status information. The potential of this new communication approach is exemplified using a small shop floor where a forming machine operator has to fulfill a wide range on tasks, where the mobile robot can support the worker.

Recent research indicates that radicals, such as oxygen's and nitrogen's, are major factors in oxidative stress reactions and has a significant impact on the development of degenerative and inflammatory disorders. Molecule which oxidizes itself and thus protects against oxidation of human cells and tissues or sensitive components in dietary products are named as antioxidant. For the above, we examined selected wild mushrooms that are traditionally used in Bosnian rural areas as food and medicine. The mushrooms Tricholoma georgii, Craterellus cornucopioides and Laetiporus sulphureus were examined by carrying out different assays of the reactivity of the mushroom samples against different oxidants. The spectrophotometric method was used for measurement of the complete phenols and complete flavonoids in the methanol: water extracts of the tested mushrooms. The antioxidative activity of the extracts of the examined mushrooms was evaluated by measuring their capacity to neutralize radicals: DPPH*, ABTS(*), OH*,O-2 (*-), NO*, and to reduce the Fe3+-TPTZ complex. The complete phenols content, flavonoids content and obtained values of antioxidative activity against various radicals, in the studied wild mushrooms indicate a significant health potential of these mushrooms, which are very widely distributed in bosnian mountains.

This review examines Wireless Body Area networks (WBANs) and their safe and efficient trusted and untrusted node categorization. WBAN data transmission must be secure due to the extensive use of wearable devices and the growing importance of health monitoring. This study reviews methods and applications used to verify network nodes' trustworthiness. Through a detailed analysis, we examineWBAN security and efficiency issues, evaluate existing methods, and highlight their strengths and weaknesses. This paper addresses the crucial issue of categorizing nodes as trusted or untrusted in Wireless Body Area networks. Secure data transfer in WBANs is crucial as wearable gadgets and health monitoring grow more popular. This research aims to thoroughly investigate WBAN node classification methods and applications for safe and efficient classification. This comprehensive research helps identify security and efficiency issues in these networks and evaluate existing methods. This study can benefit academics, practitioners, and stakeholders interested in WBAN development and implementation. The research illuminates the current advances in safe and efficient node classification, enabling experts to improve WBAN security architecture. This study helps build dependable wireless networks for health monitoring and other uses, advancing wearable technology.

The paper raises the issue of lighting in industrial hyperspectral imaging. In the first part of the article, based on the literature review, a general overview of hyperspectral imaging is presented. Examples of applications of this unique technology are briefly listed. Despite significant progress in the area of data analysis and hyperspectral cameras, much remains to be done in terms of reliability and adaptation to industrial conditions. The authors emphasize the role of lighting in machine vision systems. Existing illumination solutions are described, along with their advantages and limitations. Due to specific requirements to be met in the case of hyperspectral imaging the authors propose two types of lighting devices. The prototype of a general usage halogen illuminator characterized by spatial uniformity and broadband spectral range is described in detail. The last part of the article presents the process of designing a dedicated illuminator along with the method of selecting relevant spectral bands for a particular application.

Malware for Android is becoming increasingly dangerous to the safety of mobile devices and the data they hold. Although machine learning (ML) techniques have been shown to be effective at detecting malware for Android, a comprehensive analysis of the methods used is required. We review the current state of Android malware detection using machine learning in this paper. We begin by providing an overview of Android malware and the security issues it causes. Then, we look at the various supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning, machine learning approaches that have been utilized for Android malware detection. Additionally, we present a comparison of the performance of various Android malware detection methods and talk about the performance evaluation metrics that are utilized to evaluate their efficacy. Finally, we draw attention to the drawbacks and difficulties of the methods that are currently in use and suggest possible future directions for research in this area. In addition to providing insights into the current state of Android malware detection using machine learning, our review provides a comprehensive overview of the subject.

Humanoid robots are expected to expand their activity locations to narrow or uneven environments. When robots operate in a narrow space or on uneven terrain, they receive unplanned contact impacts, resulting in falling down or malfunctioning. Therefore, in humanoid systems, (1) balance control, (2) self-state estimation, and (3) in-body communication must have both fault mitigation and fault tolerance against contact impact. In this paper, we propose a system where robot can cope with contact impact through flexible contact by torque control, correction of estimation using contact state changes, and error tolerant communication based on control cycles. We verified the effectiveness of the proposed method through experiments of walking outdoors continuously, moving into a narrow environment, retrieving an object, and transporting an object over uneven terrain using the life-sized humanoid robot JAXON.
