The innovative approach in this study for image encryption focuses on advancing Hill's technique by incorporating a pseudo-random binary vector. The process includes transforming the original image through a vector transition, followed by dividing the image into blocks of three pixels each. To enhance confusion, an invertible matrix, multiple pseudo-random vectors, and an affine transformation are utilized. Moreover, diffusion is attained by introducing a distinct random lattice that doesn't necessarily have to be invertible, thereby fortifying the method against differential attacks. Comprehensive simulations performed on numerous images showcase the outstanding security performance of our algorithm.

Ambient sensors have been typically used in Human Activity Recognition (HAR) to monitor the activities of people and to detect unusual activities that may affect a person's wellbeing. The main advantages of ambient sensors are that they are not intrusive and do not require the user to charge them periodically. Thermal sensors are a type of ambient sensor that provides temperature data from the environment in which they are placed, allowing to identify a thermal representation of elements that produce heat, such as people, animals or hot objects. In most cases, the focus of HAR research is on the physical health of people, not on their mental health. This paper presents an investigation on the use of thermal sensor data from people performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to identify mood in a personalised way. Thermal data was collected from 15 participants performing the ADLs of preparing and drinking a hot beverage in 7 sessions. At the start of each session participants reported their mood. Classification results were produced for each participant using the Support Vector Machines (SVM) model in 10-Fold Cross Validation (CV) and in 80/20 split. The average accuracy values obtained of 0.9123 (80/20) and 0.9233 (CV), and of Cohen's Kappa Coefficient of 0.8375 (80/20) and 0.8574 (CV) are promising for a thermal sensor personalised mood detection approach.

In this paper, a model for the design of the tail rotor of a helicopter is developed. In particular, a CAD-MBD-FEM approach was employed to this end. The starting point of the analysis is the virtual development of the virtual model. Once the virtual prototype was made, it was reworked to make the multibody model, developed through the combined use of MATLAB and SIMULINK, by using the SIMSCAPE MULTIBODY toolbox. The main purpose of this analysis is to calculate the forces that are transferred to the various components in each operating configuration. Finally, the last part of the design strategy focuses on the FEM analysis carried out in ABAQUS. To this end, the output of the multibody analysis is used as input for the subsequent FEM analysis, and this was done in order to determine if the component is statically verified or not.

The paper discusses the various electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies in the context of smart cities. It begins with a representation of battery swap stations (BSS), where exhausted batteries are exchanged with fully or partially charged ones. However, this technique has its limits, which must be addressed by looking for other alternative solutions. One of them is the second method discussed, conductive charging, employed in plug-in vehicle applications, relying on a physical connection between the vehicle and the charging equipment. This method can deliver either AC or DC current based on the charger topology, i.e., on-board or off-board charger. The evolution of smart mobility has given rise to wireless charging, with inductive charging being another choice in EV applications, facilitating energy transfer through electromagnetic fields. The paper also provides an overview of standards and guidelines for managing both conductive and inductive charging. These measures ensure the safety, interoperability, and efficiency of the charging process. Taking into consideration the advantages and disadvantages of each charging method, it highlights how crucial it is for manufacturers and authorities to follow standards in order to ensure that EV users have a smooth charging experience.

The complexity of global supply networks, the rise of consumer power, and technological development all have caused a clear change in the function and position of supply chain participants. The port, which is an essential component of these global logistic chains, has been largely influenced by some movements, particularly through the increased cooperation, mergers, and integrations. In this context, the organization in Supply Chain Management appears as an essential lever to improve port performance. Though port logistics chains are receiving more attention, the studies' contributions remain modest compared to those made in other sectors, particularly the automotive and aeronautical industries. The majority of research on port supply chain (PSC) performance measurement focuses mostly on the internal performance measurement of port terminals. The objective of this paper is to study the influence of the organization in SCM on the performance of the port logistics chain's performance and the constituent parts of a port network performance measurement tool. This article captures the PSC's performance from a multidimensional vision, integrating a financial dimension, a commercial dimension, internal process, and learning and innovation. This article also has the advantage of integrating the perspectives of the various stakeholders. Based on the Khi-2, the majority of our research hypotheses are verified, leading to the assertion that the general hypothesis of our research is validated. Thus, the SCM organization influences the performance of the PSC.

Data protection has become the top priority for all organizations and businesses, given the evolution of information systems and the new challenges imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Remote access represents a tangible solution for all companies to mitigate the impact and sustain their growth. Nevertheless, many companies have experienced security breaches as a result of remote access. Today, it is imperative to initiate a revolution in securing networks and information systems and to foster innovation in cryptography, as it is the fundamental mechanism for safeguarding information. This document serves as a presentation of the Cassiopeia encryption method, which is based on the 'Cassiopeia' constellation, comprising five stars from the northern sky. We will leverage this constellation to develop a hybrid algorithm capable of ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity.

Recommender systems offer an essential tool in managing voluminous, complex data sets, providing userswith personalized insights aligned to their interests. This paper delves into a comparative analysis of the three dominant architectures of recommender systems-collaborative filtering, content-based filtering, and hybrid methods-to evaluate their efficacy. This study follows a systematic Literature review approach. Our findings illustrate the unique strengths and weaknesses of each approach. Critical challenges facing traditional recommendation systems, such as data scarcity, scalability issues, and cold start problems, are also investigated. The hybrid approach was identified as the most versatile of the three architectures, combining the strengths of collaborative and content-based filtering owing to its resilience to common recommender issues;however, it comes at the cost of complexity in design, implementation, and computational resources. Alongside, the paper illuminates the progressive advancements in their applications, techniques, and utilization scope. It underscores the emerging applications of recommender systems, sparked by the opportunities inherent in applying these systems to uncharted domains. By offering a contemporary snapshot of recommender systems research, this paper anticipates future directions for this dynamic field.

Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) is a multiple access method in which multiple users can simultaneously use the same frequency band. An innovative intelligent receiver has been developed to autonomously demodulate DS-CDMA signals. This receiver utilizes deep learning techniques, specifically a convolutional neural network (CNN), operating in a regression mode. The receiver being discussed has the capability to discern the transmitted data, even in situations where the received signal encounters substantial distortion due to factors like channel noise, near-far effects, and Rayleigh fading. The CNN training process indirectly incorporates information about the channel state, effectively removing the need for traditional channel state estimation methods involving pilot signals or training sequences. The experimental findings demonstrate that the receiver we've introduced outperforms model-based DS-CDMA demodulators when it comes to Bit Error Rate (BER).

In recent years, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are compute-intensive learning models with growing applicability in a variety of real-world problems. However, determining an optimal CNN architecture is still unclear and needs mathematical development. Furthermore, most current CNN models are primarily crafted in a specific manner. This study introduces a novel multi-objective optimization model to find optimal hyperparameters related to CNN architecture. Our proposal simultaneously minimizes both cross-entropy loss and a related CNN complexity function. This model enables the fine control of each neuron's contribution within the CNN's fully connected layers through a set of associated decision variables. To solve the resulting model, we opt for the evolutionary multi-objective algorithm (NSGA-II). Extensive experiment on three benchmark datasets MNIST, SVHN, and NORB demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach.

The paper aims to investigate and explain the involvement level of Moroccan university teachers in distance teaching during the COVID-19 containment period using the social representation theory framework and econometric model based on demographic and institutional variables. Overall, the results reveal that the selected variables exert a limited influence on teachers' involvement in distance education. However, factors such as institutional support, ICT proficiency, availability of suitable workspace, gender and teachers' rank contribute significantly to explaining their low to average involvement in remote teaching during COVID-19 confinement period. Furthermore, institutional support and ICT proficiency emerged as the most influential factors, highlighting the crucial role of organizational support and technological proficiency in facilitating effective distance education. These findings underscore the need for targeted interventions and support mechanisms to strengthen faculty involvement in distance education initiatives, which ultimately improves the quality of distance educational experiences for students.
