This paper examines the potential use of artificial intelligence models to create contextually responsive built environments. The study introduces the 'AI Arch Analyzer application,' leveraging modern artificial intelligence tools. The application enables users to capture images of their surroundings, which are then analyzed to generate design recommendations that resonate with the socio-cultural and physical context of the Middle East. Employing Research through Design (RtD) methodology, this study explores the integration of User Interface, Image Analyzer, and AI-powered chatbot components to facilitate an interactive and user-driven design process. The app utilizes On-Device Machine Learning (ML) for image analysis and text generation, enriching the architectural design process with contextual insights. Furthermore, the paper discusses the development and testing phases of the app, highlighting the significance of incorporating AI to support architects in creating designs that are both innovative and contextually relevant. Our findings underscore the potential of AI and ML technologies to revolutionize architectural practices, offering a new paradigm for contextual design in architecture. Through this research, we demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of integrating computational tools into the architectural design process, providing a foundation for future studies on the application of technology in achieving culturally and environmentally harmonious designs.

In a conventional contextual multi-armed bandit problem, the feedback (or reward) is immediately observable after an action. Nevertheless, delayed feedback arises in numerous real-life situations and is particularly crucial in time-sensitive applications. The exploration-exploitation dilemma becomes particularly challenging under such conditions, as it couples with the interplay between delays and limited resources. Besides, a limited budget often aggravates the problem by restricting the exploration potential. A motivating example is the distribution of medical supplies at the early stage of COVID-19. The delayed feedback of testing results, thus insufficient information for learning, degraded the efficiency of resource allocation. Motivated by such applications, we study the effect of delayed feedback on constrained contextual bandits. We develop a decision-making policy, delay-oriented resource allocation with learning (DORAL), to optimize the resource expenditure in a contextual multi-armed bandit problem with arm-dependent delayed feedback.

The severity of traffic congestion in Klang Valley, Malaysia, has recently worsened by the rising number of private automobiles and commercial vehicles. In this study, we developed a real-time route recommendation system using FreeRTOS and simulated an environment that included 44 shopping malls in Klang Valley. We evaluated the system using three shortest-path finding algorithms: the standard Dijkstra's, Dijkstra's with binary heap, and A*. The results indicated that the standard Dijkstra's algorithm achieves the best performance as it can handle up to a million queries with an average response time of between 0.02 to 0.03 milliseconds per query. This research demonstrates the efficacy of the standard Dijkstra's algorithm in processing massive amounts of user queries that fulfil the real-time requirements.

In telecommunication networks, fiber optics is used to transfer data from a source to a destination. One of the common problems in the transmission process is called the Bandpass Problem (BP). BP concentrates on establishing a model that can transfer information on various wavelengths at a minimum cost usingwavelength division multiplexing technology. The data is organized in packets involving various columns. The minimum cost can be obtained by finding the best row permutation in terms of cost in an acceptable time. Sundry studies have been exploited to find the minimum cost at an appropriate time. Although previous studies have reduced the cost and decreased the execution time, they have not reached optimality. Therefore, in this article, a mining technique using a meta-heuristic method called the Crow Search Algorithm (CSA) was applied to achieve the aforementioned goal. The proposed method can find the global minimum cost by keeping the positions of the best row permutation in an acceptable time. The row permutation remains unchanged unless a new better row permutation is computed. The findings exhibited a great deal of insights into how the CSA method outperformed the genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, and the ant bee colony in most cases.

Taxi is a standard mode of transportation in all countries. Whenever a customer requests a taxi service, a waiting time is estimated to indicate how long the client will wait to be picked up. This paper develops prediction models that predict the waiting time for taxi services. These models have been used to develop historical trip information that does not include vehicle GPS coordinates, traffic information, and weather data. Verification has been performed by calculating the accuracy percentage for the classification Random Forest and k-Nearest Neighbours algorithms and the Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) for the regression Random Forest model. Validation has been done on a new dataset by comparing the predictions with the actual waiting time. The same validation techniques have been used with the waiting time estimated by eCabs. However, the validation results show that the estimated waiting time by eCabs is slightly more accurate than predicted. Integrating GPS vehicle locations, traffic and weather data from a business application would be helpful and should significantly improve the prediction accuracy.

This article explores the concept of smart cities by examining the literature review, research methodology, and associated findings and discussions. The literature review sheds light on the emergence of smart cities in response to the challenges posed by rapid urbanization and global competition. The methodology adopted is based on convenience sampling, mobilizing 267 professionals involved in smart cities in Morocco. The results of the multinomial regression reveal that the age variable plays a significant role in the efficiency of smart cities, highlighting the importance of designing urban environments that are inclusive and adapted to the specific needs of each generation. The practical implications of these findings suggest that understanding age-specific influences is crucial for a successful and balanced implementation of smart city initiatives, thus guiding targeted interventions in areas such as health, education, and marketing.

This study presents a comprehensive overview of the approaches employed in recommendation systems over the last decade. The review primarily draws from two categories of filtering techniques: content-based filtering and collaborative filtering methods. We have reviewed and tabulated approximately forty articles that have been published. Major findings include: (1) collaborative filtering is more often used than content-based filtering, 70% to 23%, the rest is hybrid methods of these two;(2) more than half of the machine learning approaches adopted are supervised learning;however, (3) algorithm-wise, K-means the unsupervised learning algorithm emerged as the most frequently adopted approach in recommendation systems. Also notably, cosine similarity stands out as the prevalent measurement technique.

Intermodal transport constitutes a highly complex system marked by the diversity of its operations, the lack of information, and the presence of a multitude of actors often with conflicting objectives. Intermodal operators are nowadays looking for effective operational strategies to reduce the impact of uncertainties and meet established performance and service objectives. To meet these challenges, the use of Simulation Optimization approaches for decision-making under uncertainties is increasing on a large-scale and an appreciable amount of development has been done in this area of research. This paper presents a Simulation-Optimization approach to solve the barge intermodal operations planning problems in theMultimodal Terminal of Le Havre. Indeed, a Multi-agents simulation model is proposed and implemented in the Anylogic Software, this model is enriched by Simulated Annealing (SA) optimization algorithm. The solutions found by the optimization algorithm are simulated and evaluated based on several performance criteria.

This study is designed as a sequence-to-sequence neural network and GPT-3 for English-to-Bangla machine translation. Here, we have analyzed the results in different ways in this study: The first one is embedding-based analysis with Pearson and Spearman correlation and a maximum of 77% similarity between actual and expected sentences has been achieved, the second one is BLEU score, and the third is the human analysis and a comparatively acceptable score has been obtained. We also obtained a 0.85 BLEU score in this study, and we found 93% accuracy of the generated translation output by using the human-based subjective score.
