Due to the shortage of nephrologists and the scarcity of diagnostic labs in rural areas, chronic kidney disease (CKD) has recently emerged as a major health problem. In order to detect illness from clinical and radiological pictures, automated diagnostic models are necessary. Previous research on CKD diagnosis has mostly focused on the independent use of clinical data and CT scans to create AI algorithms. Incorporating clinical data with computed tomography (CT) images, this research seeks to create a Deep Multi-modal Fusion approach with a late fusion mechanism for diagnosis. Clinical data were used in the tests with CT scans of the kidney to ensure accuracy. Clinical data and image-extracted features are kept separate in the proposed model by a process termed late fusion. The model scored 99% accuracy, 98.6 recall, 97.8 precision, and 98.2 F-score, showing that combining clinical data with the CTD increases diagnosis accuracy to that of a human expert. An additional method of verification was comparing the proposed system's results with those of a human expert. In addition, the findings validate the feasibility of the proposed approach as a diagnostic aid for chronic kidney disease (CKD) for medical professionals.

This paper presents a novel scheme for controlling planar multirobot formations. We assume the multirobot team's overall motion is guided by a subset of independently moving leader robots. We propose a strategy to control the other robots, called followers, based on minimizing a distributed deformation cost. This cost is based on a team organization in triads, i.e., three-robot subsets. Our strategy allows the team to maintain a prescribed formation shape while maneuvering under the leaders' guidance during, e.g., collaborative object transport or navigation tasks. We also study how to restrict the leaders' dynamics to facilitate formation tracking by the followers under motion constraints. The control laws we propose are distributed, can be designed locally, and rely on relative position measurements only. We illustrate our scheme with simulations considering single-integrator and unicycle robot dynamics.

The accurate classification of Indian PenalCode (IPC) sections in criminal cases is complex due to the intricate legal framework, subjective interpretation, evolving legal precedents, diverse case facts, and the potential for human error. As crime reports and IPC (Indian Penal Code) documents belong to distinct document types, assessing the availability of specific sections becomes a challenging task due to their inherent differences. This study addresses this challenge by proposing a GINI index-based decision tree model to determine the applicability of IPC Sect. 323 which deals with the offense of voluntarily causing hurt. The proposed model aims to enhance the consistency and transparency of legal decision-making, providing a valuable tool for legal practitioners, investigators, and policymakers involved in the criminal justice system. The interpretability of the decision tree ensures that the rationale behind the IPC section classification is accurate and comprehensible, contributing to a more effective and equitable administration of justice. The report comprehensively gathers information on various facets of the crime, demonstrating the relevance of each section based on its accessibility.

In the maritime sector, improving a port's performance is often a major challenge, not least because of the considerable costs involved in managing it. The aim of this paper is to present a new approach to improving supply chain performance for bulk traffic in the multipurpose traffic department. We based our approach on the Lean Six Sigma methodology deployed by the DMAIC approach. We began by identifying the scope of the project and the objectives to be achieved, then we collected all the measurements needed to assess the performance of the process. We then analyzed and identified all forms to improve the performance of the logistics chain for bulk traffic. We set up a control indicator to ensure the overall balance of the value chain.

The growing importance of the environment has attracted the attention of industry, the public, associations, and governments, with the transport sector standing out as a significant source of pollution. Recognizing the unsustainable growth of road transport, the European Commission (EC) called for a shift to alternative modes of transport in 1995 [12]. In line with the EU's goal of climate neutrality by 2050, a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is targeted by 2030 [10]. This study examines intermodal road-rail transport as a potential solution to the industry's environmental problems. A systematic literature review examined 121 papers from the SCOPUS database, of which 30 were selected for full-text analysis. The analysis reveals the current state of research, including benefits, barriers, case studies and proposed solutions. Infrastructure emerges as a critical factor and, despite different scenarios, there is consensus on the potential benefits of intermodal transport in reducing emissions and costs. The paper argues for further research to develop tools and software to facilitate the adoption of intermodal transport and encourage a transformative shift in the current modal split.

The lumped mass approach is shown in this paper to enable a decoupling of the dynamic simulation and sensitivity analysis of flexible multibody systems from the finite-element model. The lumped and consistent mass approaches are compared within a modeling framework utilizing the floating frame of reference formulation. The invariants required for nonlinear system parameters are obtained by summation operations with the lumped mass approach, allowing for a decoupling from the finite-element formulation. This is in contrast to the consistent mass approach, where inertia shape integrals are evaluated based on the element shape functions. The derivatives of the system parameters and the sensitivities of the invariants enable the same decoupling for the sensitivity analysis. Further consequences of using a lumped mass approach regarding number of elements, dynamic and sensitivity responses and computation time is compared with a consistent mass approach.

We have developed an omni-directional mobile wheelchair that can ascend stairs using only wheels even if the stairs have different dimensions. Omni-directional movement reduces the burden of moving in tight spaces and enables intuitive operation. However, stair climbing is still an issue for powered wheelchairs in general. In this research, we focus on a dual-wheel active-caster mechanism that has a simple structure and can move in all directions using normal tires, and examine stair ascending. We investigate the conditions required for ascending stairs and show that it is possible to ascend stairs by making the wheelbase variable and installing a center of gravity movement mechanism. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism through experiments using a 1/2 scale experimental machine and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape. The results showed that ascending stairs can be achieved by changing the wheelbase to match the stair dimensions and equalizing wheel loads during ascending stairs.

Business intelligence (BI) tools have become essential for logistics companies due to their ability to facilitate improved decision-making and operational efficiency, as they provide comprehensive data analysis capabilities that contribute to more informed and timely decisions. This study utilizes the critical task of selecting the most suitable BI tool for an e-commerce logistics company, focusing on assessing various alternatives, including open-sourced and proprietary software. The research employs innovative integrated multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods. The integrated approach primarily uses HFAHP to determine related criteria weights. Then, utilizing these determined weights, Hesitant Fuzzy Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation II (HF-PROMETHEE II), Hesitant Fuzzy Evaluation Based on Distance from Average Solution (HF-EDAS), and Hesitant Fuzzy Multiple Objective Optimization on the basis of Ratio Analysis plus Full Multiplicative Form (HF-MULTIMOORA) methods are implemented to compare the alternatives. Five different Business intelligence tools were evaluated concerning eleven comprehensive criteria. This exhaustive evaluation, conducted by five business intelligence experts, aims to guide organizations in selecting an optimal BI tool that enhances data analysis, decision-making processes, and overall business efficiency.

The enrollment process at the Peruvian schools are manual with large process, it generates significant delays and security problems. This situation affects both parents and administrative and teaching staff, which motivates the need to address and improve this process efficiently. This research project focuses on the automation of this process through the implementation of an efficient School Management System (SMS). Currently, the systematic literature review demonstrates a growing interest in automating enrollment and cyber security in educational settings, highlighting potential benefits and worries in terms of efficiency and user experience. This paper's objective is to detect the deficiencies present in the current literature and compile recommendations based on the experience of other institutions that have implemented similar automated systems and a proposal to develop a methodology for the evaluation and improvement of the cyber-security and automation in the SMS. The purpose is to establish a solid knowledge that supports decision-making process when planning the implementation of the automation system in the school, with the objective of quantifiable reducing the waiting time in the enrollment process, minimizing errors in data collection, and, increase parental satisfaction with an evaluation of 1654 papers from ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore and Scopus. Therefore, it contributes to improving the efficiency of the enrollment process and optimizing administrative management.
