Sustainable crowdfunding is becoming increasingly popular among entrepreneurs, but there is a lack of research about the economic, environmental, and social impacts of the projects financed via this source. This paper aims to examine the post-funding phase of sustainability-oriented projects and determine whether they provide the actual sustainability benefits or engage in greenwashing practices. After developing a framework to evaluate the sustainability level of crowdfunding projects, a content analysis is conducted on a sample of 50 projects financed by six European sustainability-oriented crowdfunding platforms. The results indicate that the sample projects have positive impacts on sustainability, but they rarely create value across the entire triple bottom line of economic, environmental, and social impacts. Overall, this study contributes to the literature that seeks to uncover the post-financing outcomes of sustainable projects funded by crowdfunding platforms.

The article has been developed within the framework of the research project "Critical study of media-related risks and opportunities for deliberative communication: scenarios for the European media landscape" (MEDIADELCOM) under the EU program "Horizon 2020". Based on the methodology applied by the 14 participating countries in this project, the risks and opportunities for deliberative communication that arose in the process ofmedia transformation in the period 2000-2020 are assessed. The article focuses on the results of thework of the Bulgarian team in four areas: legal and ethical regulation, journalism, media consumption patterns, and media competences. The findings of this study are important for politicians, institutions, media regulators, educators, media experts, and journalists, but above all-for citizens.

Reaching sustainability and tackling climate change need switching to renewable energy. Still, the erratic character of these energy sources poses problems for energy management. Precise forecasting can facilitate the more efficient integration of these sources, increasing system efficiency and energy production. Predictions of solar irradiance, wind speed, and load have all shown promise for accuracy improvement using machine learning (ML) methods. This study investigates the use of ML techniques, specifically Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), for predicting potential solar and wind energy sites in Morocco. The performance of these ML algorithms was assessed using metrics including sensitivity (Se), specificity (SP), Positive PredictiveValue (Po), and kappa coefficient (k *). Results showed that the RF algorithm demonstrated superior accuracy in classifying the geospatial dataset related to the wind farm, achieving Se and Sp of 0.97 and 0.90, respectively. Following this, the MLP algorithm achieves Se and Sp values of 0.77 and 0.80, respectively. Lastly, the SVM algorithm presented Se and Sp values of 0.68 and 0.74, respectively. The highest overall precision in predicting suitable locations of power plants was achieved using the RF classifier with 90% and 87% for wind and solar, respectively, followed by the MLP classifier with 78% and 71% for wind and solar, respectively. In contrast, the SVM classifier provided the lowest Po, with 72% and 70%, for wind and solar, respectively. The k* indices for wind and solar modeling using the RF algorithm were 0.78 and 0.77 for wind and solar, respectively, highlighting its potential for predicting solar and wind farm sites. The main findings of the study are that the RF algorithm outperformed the other ML algorithms in predicting potential solar and wind energy sites.

The modern workload application is generally being executed on Heterogeneous (CPU-GPU) Cloud Computing (HCC) environment. Minimizing execution cost with high quality of service is most important considering economic perspective of Cloud Service Provider (CSP). The energy consumption plays a major part in cost and also makespan, meeting application deadlines. This work addresses the challenge involved in scheduling parallel workload under heterogeneous cloud computing for minimizing energy and makespan meeting task deadline prerequisite. Existing model are efficient in minimizing either energy or makespan;thus, resulting higher service provisioning cost. In addressing the research problem, this work present Energy Optimized Scheduling (EOS) for parallel workload application in heterogeneous cloud computing platform. Experiment results shows the proposed model is efficient in minimizing energy and makespan in comparison with existing workload scheduling approach. The result shows an average energy reduction of 23.22%, overall power consumption reduction of 85.06%, and makespan reduction of 78.2% for montage workflow in comparison with energy minimized scheduling.

This survey paper explores the advancements in the realm of "AI-based Resume Matching and Prediction" by focusing on empowering candidates to predict their eligibility for specific companies based on their skills, job descriptions, and defined criteria. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has been at the forefront of transforming recruitment processes, allowing for a more efficient matching of candidates with job opportunities. In information retrieval, words that contribute little to the semantic information within a text are called stopwords. Identification of stopwords is considered an asset for many retrieval tasks as removal of such words from the text collection increase the regularization within the dataset and reduce the volume and computational complexity. Traditional techniques for identification of stopwords either involve manual construction of stopword lists by analyzing terms individually or employing sorting-based techniques that uses global term characteristics as a proxy. Due to the context-dependant and non-precise definition of what really classifies as a stopword, transfer and application of these traditional methodologies to different languages or domains leaves room for generalized and interpretable results. To address this concern, we propose a feature based supervised machine learning technique for automatic detection of stopwords. We have tested the validity of the proposed technique with extensive experiments and compared the results with a general English stopword list. Furthermore, we have evaluated the proposed technique with both formal written and social media text. The results reveal that the proposed technique leads to promising results and is also capable of addressing the changes in the dialect.

This paper aims to reconstruct complete 3D models of the human body from partial scans obtained using low-cost RGB-D cameras. These cameras provide partial views in the form of noisy point clouds of body parts. To address the complete 3D reconstruction of the body from these partial views, parametric models such as SMPL and STAR are used, whose parameters determine the pose and shape of the bodies obtained. A complete pipeline is proposed that addresses from the preprocessing and segmentation of partial clouds at the entrance, going through the parametric optimization of pose and shape, as well as the integration of the different models obtained. The results of the reconstruction of the body models are shown, which in qualitative terms faithfully represent the expected shapes. At the quantitative level, the distance metrics of the points obtained in the models with respect to the "Ground Truth", show promising results, in relation to other methods that start from complete scans.

The design of a multi-input and multi-output controller for a coupled system like an active magnetic bearing is challenging. By decoupling the systems states, simpler single input and single output controllers can be used. However, the active magnetic bearing system still exhibits strong nonlinearities in the electromagnetic system the controller must handle. Thus, a second-order sliding mode controller is utilised to control the rigid rotor of the active magnetic bearing. The aim is to improve the stability and robustness of these systems by addressing common problems such as disturbances and to find a trade-off between controller complexity and performance. Particle swarm optimisation is used to tune the control parameters of all presented controllers. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is validated in simulation.

Brain Computer Interfaces (BCIs) are intelligent systems that enable direct communication between the human brain and machines. While BCI systems are promising for future medical and non-medical applications, studies concerning their ethical considerations are growing. However, no previous study has examined how the public's ethical perception of the BCI technology is affected by the particular BCI type in question. This study thus considered whether the public experienced active and passive BCIs differently in the prominent ethical domains of personhood, responsibility and privacy. Results suggest that active BCIs induce a higher ethical concern regarding personhood, and that women experienced privacy to be more concerning in passive BCIs. There were no other significant differences between the two BCI types in the examined ethical domains. A regression analysis also indicated that a person's general ethical concern for BCIs was unaffected by their demographical information. This study provides preliminary insights for the development of ethically informed BCI systems.

This article examined design options for high-speed Turbogenerators of medium and high power. Particular attention was paid to the operating features of the generator cooling system. The probabilities of occurrence of emergency situations at electric generators of power plants caused by failures of various types are given, based on the results of statistical data processing. The detailed analysis of the design of the brush-holders device of Turbogenerators was carried out. The factors influencing the design of brush-holders are indicated. The main causes of damage are considered and the ways of development and improvement of the existing design structure are determined. The analysis of the calculation methods of the ventilation and heat removal systems was carried out. The temperatures values were obtained as the result of modeling the brush-holder thermal state in the SolidWorks Flow Simulation environment. The principles of three-dimensional calculation of the thermal state of the brush-holders device of Turbogenerators in a three-dimensional formulation by the CFD method using the results of analytical calculations are considered.
