This study investigates the application of Multimodal Learning Analytics (MMLA) in language practice, specifically within the authentic and dynamic environment of language cafe settings. The MMLA Model for Design and Analysis (MAMDA), a design science approach, is utilized to systematically explore the requirements for designing the MMLA system. We identify and map three elements: 1) Learning indicators, referring to spoken language learning signs, such as tone, amount and frequency of speech, and pronunciation. 2) Respective modalities and sensors, referring to the format of data to be collected and 3) Analytics models, including NLP models, that can be employed to identify and process the modalities. We propose a conceptual system that utilizes AI voice assistant while simultaneously collecting audio data for MMLA to enhance language learning experiences. The system is meant for providing insights into learning patterns, participant engagement, and the overall effectiveness of language practice strategies. While presenting a novel system showcasing the use of AI and data analytics in a unique educational setting, the study's central focus is to test and critically reflect on MAMDA as a framework for designing and analyzing MMLA systems.

In 2020, Tecnologico de Monterrey launched LIVE programs in Continuing Education to serve all those professionals looking for courses and diplomas in the virtual version. The Learning Gate (TLG), a personalized platform, was developed under andragogic principles, where the participant can choose what, when, and how much to study. This work describes the TLG case study, including its design, covered competencies, student perceptions surveys and two participants' case studies, and the discussion of the results. The paper also describes the personalized virtual approach, discussing web-based platforms' potential to promote continuous education. The customized platform consists of two parts: the content area, comprising a diagnostic evaluation and simple self-directed learning, and the practical part, where a challenge-based learning approach is employed. The program consists of 4 big areas (leadership, data science, finance, and marketing and sales), accounting for 123 sub-competencies. Until November 2022, there were 602 students enrolled in these programs. Participants who have already taken the courses and challenges and the development of sub-competencies ensure that they are satisfied with the training they have received since the tools newly acquired are effectively applied in the context of the reality of their organization. Continuing education is a tool that higher education institutions should promote in their collaborations with organizations and an essential lifelong learning element in the development of the current profession.

Open Educational Resources (OERs) can overcome barriers in higher mathematics education through cost reduction, increased accessibility, and adaptable materials for teachers. The purpose of this paper is to provide a deeper understanding of the need for OERs in higher mathematics education, as well as the potential for collaboration and readiness for their use in Estonia. OERs can benefit teaching and learning in various ways. The adoption and utilization of OERs in Estonia is limited. The authors conducted an online survey with mathematics teachers from different universities and institutions to investigate the reasons for the absence of OERs, the necessity of a digital library of OERs, and the willingness to cooperate in its creation and use. The survey results showed that most respondents considered the digital library necessary and were ready to collaborate in various forms, such as creating, testing, reviewing, and translating materials. However, some respondents were reluctant to share their materials for free or did not find the digital library useful for their specific courses. In conclusion, collaboration in the development of OERs would help overcome the barriers and challenges associated with OERs in higher mathematics education in Estonia.

We present both design and a mixed method evaluation scheme of a semester-long course for scientific literature work. Focus of this contribution lies on the implementation for an e-learning environment with a clearly structured overview as key requirement, reflecting teaching concepts used, that is designed to reduce complexity of usage. Teaching concepts are derived from Self-Determination Theory and are assumed to provide learning conditions to support an optimal motivation profile by focusing on autonomy support, involvement, and structure. Demand-driven student-teacher communication is possible through hybrid communication structures. Approaches to flexibility are reflected by students' own choice of research focus. Situated in 5th semester within a bachelor curriculum, Artificial Neural networks are used as a thematical framework which easily can be adapted to other subjects. Teaching analysis poll is conducted to obtain timely feedback by students to identify helping and hindering factors for learning, followed by a questionnaire reflecting the acquisition of competences.

Stock market forecasting is always a challenge because of dynamic, non-linear, non-parametric and high-noise features of stock data. Researchers have been applying many statistical methods to handle complex financial data, but since DL techniques have emerged, Artificial neural networks have been successfully utilized for automatic feature extraction and prediction. Among many ANN tools, convolutional neural networks (CNN) prove to produce better learning capabilities and therefore manage big data in capital markets, enabling stock market prediction. Therefore, with this work authors seek to explore the possibility of using CNN to process graphics containing stock charts and demonstrate the potential of predicting volume changes. The aim of the study is to develop a CNN's based model that supports prediction of stock volume changes in the capital markets. Moreover, the authors intend to compare the quality measures of the generated predictive model for different types of stock charts. In relation to the aforementioned, a noteworthy contribution to the existing body of knowledge involves comparing the utility of two types of charts for analyzing volume values.

The paper dealswith the importance of education and awareness raising in the context of sustainability, especially in relation to the role of engineering in solving current problems such as population growth, global inequality and climate change. Education for sustainable development plays a key role in promoting sustainable thinking in society and that universities and higher education institutions are fundamental institutions to achieve the SDGs. Therefore, linking technical and sustainability-oriented topics in the curriculum is essential to prepare future engineers for their role as change agents. Within the framework of a design-based research approach, the aim of this paper is to provide a best practice example of an innovative teaching concept that closes this gap and presents a theory-based teaching example for sustainable engineering education. Central questions are, on the one hand, to what extent sustainability topics are currently anchored in engineering courses in Germany. In addition, the question is addressed as to what a subject didactic concept in the engineering sciences can look like under the current conditions that takes up sustainability topics and stimulates an increase in the ecological and sustainable awareness of students. The article gives an overview of the structure and the most important components of the module. The insights gained are intended to contribute to the evidence-based implementation of sustainability in engineering and thus fill a gap in engineering teaching practice and engineering education research.

This article describes a new Strategic Design teaching process for students in the Bachelor of Design program at Tecnologico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey. We developed the process to have three stages: Situational Analysis, Foresight, and Generation (SAFG), and an application sequence in which students developed a project for a real client, which in this case was a product or services company. As part of the methodology, we proposed the process to three professors who teach the subject of Strategic Design and two experts in the subject to adapt and validate the stages. Next, we implemented the proposal during a semester to a group of 25 students, divided into 8 teams. At the end of the course, the students answered a survey instrument. To complete the investigation, student teams interviewed a representative of the company involved in their projects. A correlational analysis of the student survey was compared with the company representatives' opinions to corroborate the process's value. Also, the results were contrasted with the information obtained from the experts to corroborate that the process did have the expected impact. The conclusion was that the students and companies found significant value in the process. The students identified the Foresight stage as the most difficult and the one they appreciated as the most valuable in the process. However, company representatives found greater value in the Generation stage.

During daily activities, ergonomic conditions are essential due to the health and work performance that depend on them. Ergonomics is based on active breaks and comfort during work, significantly contributing to labor productivity. This research has been carried out with a mixed approach, using the Rapid Office Strain Assessmentmethod to determine the characteristics of the job and the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment method to evaluate individual postures;A survey was also applied using the Nordic Questionnaire for the evaluation of musculoskeletal disorders. The research was carried out on the Higher Technological Institute for Research, Technology, Science, and the Academy staff, with a population of teachers and administrative staff. The personnel are exposed to ergonomic risks, with a percentage of 44% with the Rapid Office Strain Assessment method, with the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment 42.23% of the personnel, and with the Nordic Questionnaire the appearance of discomfort at the neck and shoulder due to the type of equipment and furniture used by the staff. Modifying furniture in the work area (ergonomic chairs, desks), acquiring appropriate instruments (ergonomic mouse, pad), and taking active and passive breaks with all staff have reduced risks and, therefore, musculoskeletal disorders.

Artificial Intelligence has evolved significantly since its initial conception, and today is a widespread technology that finds applications in various sectors, including education. The emergence of Chat GPT provoked considerable interest both among ordinary users and among a number of researchers. In this regard, it is of interest to study the possibilities of Chat GPT to deal with challenges from the modern educational environment. For this purpose, Chat GPT is considered as an educational assistant, for which it is necessary to define performance indicators. In this report, two groups of performance indicators are defined in terms of Technical performance and Educational performance of Chat GPT in an educational environment. The determined indicators were used in the formulation of a mathematical model for the overall evaluation of the effectiveness of the use of Chat GPT in relation to the educational process. The applicability of the model is demonstrated using Chat GPT to solve specific tasks related to learning JavaScript in grade 12.

While ChatGPT may help students to learn to program, it can be misused to do plagiarism, a breach of academic integrity. Students can ask ChatGPT to complete a programming task, generating a solution from other people's work without proper acknowledgment of the source(s). To help address this new kind of plagiarism, we performed a controlled experiment measuring the inappropriate benefits of using ChatGPT in terms of completion time and programming performance. We also reported how to manually identify programs aided with ChatGPT (via student behavior while using ChatGPT) and student perspective of ChatGPT (via a survey). Seventeen students participated in the experiment. They were asked to complete two programming tests. They were divided into two groups per the test: one group should complete the test without help while the other group should complete it with ChatGPT. Our study shows that students with ChatGPT complete programming tests two times faster than those without ChatGPT, though their programming performance is comparable. The generated code is highly efficient and uses complex data structures like lists and dictionaries. Based on the survey results, ChatGPT is recommended to be used as an assistant to complete programming tasks and other general assignments. ChatGPT will be beneficial as a reference as other search engines do. Logical and critical thinking are needed to validate the result presented by ChatGPT.
