X-rays are the most commonly performed medical imaging tests to detect fractures. However, some fractures are difficult to detect and may go unnoticed by physicians. In addition, there are very few public X-rays datasets of rib fractures. Although, the creation of such datasets is very time-consuming because of the bureaucratic and ethical issues involved, it is very useful, because these images can be used for teaching and data enhancement without privacy issues. Recently, generative models have been used to synthesize images with high quality and realism. In this work, a generative model was developed to generate synthetic X-ray images with hard-to-detect rib fractures. These images were evaluated using quantitative metrics and a Turing test. It was found that the images generated were not realistic enough due to the large heterogeneity of the dataset used for training, which made it impossible for the model to correctly evaluate the most important features.

Numerous studies have been conducted due to the high value of user data, which has led to fake (or cloned) websites known as "phishing" websites. In this context, this work aimed to experimentally compare the KDD and CRISP-DM methodologies used for phishing identification in a publicly available dataset. Experimental comparisons of machine learning algorithms and approaches were carried out, with competitive outcomes. When using the Perceptron Multilayer technique to create CRISP-DM, we received a 92.9% F1 score. Additionally, a comparison of the phases between the two approaches revealed some insightful qualitative findings.

This study presents a novel optimal controller that is designed based on a linear transformation with upper and lower prescribed functions. The utilization of the linear transformation, akin to the Kalman function, forms an integral part of the optimal control input. The development of the proposed controller is rooted in non-conventional prescribed techniques, which contribute to its uniqueness and innovative nature for control the severe disturbance. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed controller, two benchmark controllers are carefully selected for comparison. The simulation results unequivocally demonstrate that the proposed controller possesses stronger capabilities in suppressing vibrations when compared to the benchmark controllers.

A data model for the steel production is presented, based loosely on ETSI's SAREF4INMA standard. It models the production resources, such as steel billets, slabs or coils, production equipment, such as a continuous castingmachine or a hot rollingmill, and is capable of representing the tracking uncertainty characteristic of the production of steel long products. Aproperty graph representation of the involved entities is used, where not only each entity is typed, but also the links between entities. The model has been developed as part of a digital twin software platform in the CAPRI project and serves as documentation for the application programming interfaces. A decision support system for through-process quality control is being realised as the main application based on the platform.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a widely prevalent concept as it has dramatically advanced the ability to communicate and exchange data between various connected devices. With its success and growing need, many threats and attacks against IoT devices and services have exponentially increased. An increase in knowledge of IoT-related threats and adequate monitoring technologies have helped develop the potential to detect the threats. There have been various studies on finger-printing based approaches on device identification but none have taken into account the full protocol spectrum. IPAssess is a novel finger-printing based model which takes a feature set based on the correlation between the device characteristics and the protocols and then applies various machine learning algorithms: Random Forest, Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN), Naive Bayes, and Gradient Boost (XGB), to perform device identification and classification. We have used aggregation and augmentation to enhance the algorithm. In our experimental study, IPAssess performs IoT device identification with a 99.6% classification accuracy.

Application of optimal reinforcement concepts like lattice or wafer and reducing of most cost and time-consuming assembly operations based on integration of attachment fittings into composite structures provide strong opportunities for weight reduction and manufacturing costs of airframe structures. Within this work, the breakthrough manufacturing-oriented solution based on the combination of high-performance lattice design and high-productive automated process is presented. A method for the preliminary design of a composite keel beam is described to determine structural parameters of two families of ribs that meet strength and stability constraints. Finally, a case study on the design of lattice composite keel beam was formulated and solved to demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed design concept and method.

The need for interoperability between robots of different brands and navigation typologies, graph-based and free navigation, is increasing and this has led to the development of a new approach to empower a graph and ROS-based robot fleet manager for the management of free navigation mobile robots. For this implementation and validation, in real tests, the OMRON LD-90 was the mobile robot platform chosen, which has the particularity of not allowing the execution of a waypoints sequence. A software module was developed to exchange data between a non-ROS-based mobile robot and a specific ROS-based robot fleet manager. This is an approach applicable to any free navigation Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) with the necessary adaptations regarding the information provided by the different robot brands.

This research addresses privacy concerns in traditional ride-sharing applications by proposing a decentralized solution leveraging blockchain technology and smart contracts, complemented by spatial cloaking techniques. Conventional ride-sharing platforms rely on centralized intermediaries, exposing user location data to potential breaches. Our approach enhances system resilience, reducing the risk of network-wide disruption in the event of an attack. Spatial cloaking within smart contracts conceals location data from unauthorized access, significantly improving privacy protection. Our findings show improved system security with a effective deployment cost of gas units and an effective transaction cost of gas units, leading to faster blockchain block hashing. This research offers a promising path towards decentralized ride-sharing, combining blockchain and spatial cloaking for enhanced user privacy while maintaining system efficiency and security.

Biometrics involves the analysis and statistical assessment of unique physical and behavioural characteristics of an individual. It finds application in areas like identification, access control, and surveillance. In security systems, biometric-based recognition is replacing conventional methods. Iris recognition (IR) has gained prominence in contemporary biometric technology deployed across various devices for security purposes. Recent advancements in deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs), computer vision, and access to extensive training data have significantly enhanced the performance of IR systems over the last decade. A presentation attack refers to a scenario where an impostor generates fake biometric data to deceive the system. This study introduces an effective strategy to enhance the precision of detecting iris presentation attacks and reviews the evolution of CNN techniques from 2015 to 2022. The proposed solution is a Dual-Channel Convolutional Neural Network Presentation Attack Detector (DC-CNNPAD), designed to improve the accuracy of real iris detection. An experiment is conducted on the LivDet-2015 dataset to evaluate the model's effectiveness in identifying artefacts. The results obtained from the detection model on the sample dataset demonstrate highly favourable outcomes, and on LivDet-2015, the TDR is 98.70%.
