Rapid detection of epileptic seizures from electroencephalography (EEG) signals is vital for timely treatment. However, accurately identifying seizures automatically remains challenging due to the diversity of EEG data. Recently, deep learning approaches have shown promising performance. This research presents a hybrid deep neural network combining convolutional neural network layers to automatically extract spatial-temporal patterns, bidirectional long short-term memory layers to model long-term temporal relationships, and a convolutional block attention module to focus on informative features. We evaluated this model using a benchmark EEG dataset for classifying seizures into two groups. Our model achieved a peak accuracy of 97.70% and F1-score of 97.70%, surpassing state-of-the-art techniques. The attention module improved the extraction of valuable features from EEG channels and time segments related to seizures. We provide visualizations of EEG events that the model emphasizes during seizure and non-seizure periods. This hybrid model with channel and temporal attention enhances the efficacy and interpretability of EEG-based seizure detection, further enabling patient-specific seizure characterization. The model shows promise for assisting clinicians in safely identifying seizures from multichannel EEG data.

A strategic necessity in today's academic setting is the broad acceptance of digital transformation. It has a profound impact on economies and society while giving businesses the opportunity to increase productivity, boost competitiveness, and streamline operations. Additionally, it increases investment and enhances the standard of living for citizens by promoting connectivity and digital inclusion. Moroccan universities face a formidable struggle in this dynamic environment. Digitalization emerges as a critical means of improving their overall performance. It also paves the way for the creation of Universities 4.0, which are inclusive, high-achieving, networked, and intelligent universities. But before such institutions can be founded, the dematerialization process and the digital and numerical infrastructure need to be mastered. The study looks at the actual digital transformation that Moroccan public institutions are going through and wonders if using these strategies could make them more successful.

Generative design is an increasingly important tool in the industrial world. It allows the designers and engineers to easily explore vast ranges of design options, providing a cheaper and faster alternative to the trial and failure approaches. Thanks to the flexibility they offer, Deep Generative Models are gaining popularity amongst Generative Design technologies. However, developing and evaluating these models can be challenging. A notable gap in the field is the absence of standardized benchmarks for objectively evaluating and comparing various Deep Generative Models architectures from a manufacturing perspective. Additionally, standard Deep Generative Models seem to struggle to accurately produce multi-component industrial systems governed by latent design constraints. In response to both challenges, our work introduces a two-fold solution. Firstly, we present an industry-inspired use case that integrates real-world characteristics of industrial systems, facilitating rapid generation for benchmarking purposes. Secondly, we introduce a Meta-VAE, designed to generate complex multi-component industrial systems, and demonstrate its efficacy using the proposed use case.

Involving people in urban planning offers many benefits, but current methods are failing to get a large number of citizens to participate. People have a high participation barrier when it comes to public participation in urban planning - as it requires a lot of time and initiative, only a small non-diverse group of citizens take part in governmental initiatives. In this paper, a product is developed to make it as easy as possible for citizens to get involved in construction projects in their community at an early stage. As a solution, a public screen is proposed, which offers citizens the opportunity to receive information, view 3D models, vote and comment at the site of the construction project via smartphone - the solution was named Parcitypate. To explain the functions of the product, a prototype was created and tested. In addition, concepts for branding, marketing, ethics, and sustainability are presented.

As the integration of collaborative robots (cobots) into manufacturing environments continues to grow, it becomes imperative to prioritize the seamless interaction between humans and robots. This paper presents the results of an exercise conducted in a learning factory, focusing on the human-centered design of collaborative robot cells. The aim is to expose learners to human-centered design by evaluating the impact of different robot design configurations on critical human factors: workload, trust, and usability. To assess the effects of robot cell design on workload, trust, and usability, objective performance metrics were combined with subjective user feedback. Learners engaged in an assembly task within a learning factory environment, interacting with aUR3 collaborative robot in various configurations. The NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX) was used to measure perceived workload, and trust and usability were evaluated through structured questionnaires found in literature. Learners discover that subtle changes in robot cell design, such as arm movement and speed, significantly influence workload, trust, and usability perceptions among human operators. Learners therefore gained valuable insights into the importance of aligning technology with human needs and preferences, thereby solidifying their grasp of human-centered design principles.

The relevance of the research is due to the rapid development of the digital economy and the emergence of innovative financial technology - cryptocurrency, which allows making international payments with minimal transaction fees, making investments, moving tangible and intangible assets. Assessment of cryptocurrency is the subject of this article. The purpose of the research is to develop the author's methodology for integral assessment of the quality of cryptocurrency and its testing. The leading research method of this problem is modeling, based on the analysis of Russian and foreign cryptocurrency assessment experience, the identification of value properties of different types of cryptocurrencies and their classification by the criterion of the manifestation areas, which allowed to develop an integral value-based methodology for assessing the quality of cryptocurrency and conduct an experimental calculation of the main types of cryptocurrencies using this methodology. The paper presents an integral value-based methodology for assessing the quality of cryptocurrencies. By means of a comparative approach, we carried out an analysis of methods for evaluating cryptocurrencies abroad. The article identifies four areas of value - value categories (functional, technological, economic, psychological), 18 value subcategories, 65 value criteria and 93 gradations of value of cryptocurrencies, and built an integrated model of value assessment of cryptocurrencies in the form of a four-level "value tree". The gradation of value was carried out in the range from 1 to 10 units. The evaluation was carried out by expert method. The model is intended for use by operators of cryptocurrency exchanges, investors and crypto market specialists and is focused on the development of scientific and methodological support for the evaluation of cryptocurrencies. This study's primary goal is to assess stakeholders' perceptions of the effectiveness of the digital transition in Moroccan public services, specifically Egovernment systems. It adopts Delone and McLean's [DeLone and McLean in Found Trends Inf Syst 2:1-116, 2016] Information systems' success model as a framework. The research methodology involves conducting qualitative interviews with 17 managers, and these interviews were guided by designed interview guides. Data from these interviews were processed and analyzed using Nvivo Qsr 12 software. Through this process, five additional variables (human capital, telecommunications infrastructure, willingness to use, state strategy, and continuous training) were identified and integrated into the model. The findings indicate that the quality of the IT system within e-services positively impacts the performance and public value of the Moroccan administration, as well as user satisfaction and perceived service quality. Therefore, maintaining and enhancing e-services' quality is crucial for their success and ensuring user satisfaction.

This paper presents a procedure to implement a voltage dip detector to be applied in the control strategy of a photovoltaic energy generator connected to a distribution grid. The most common way to mitigate the number of incidents and conserve nature is to introduce renewable energy sources to the electrical grid, such as photovoltaic systems. However, when these systems are connected to the network, mutual impacts have been introduced, and a thorough investigation of their effects on the influence of the distribution networks/and their potential effects on the effects of photovoltaic systems experienced in network disturbances and steady-state. The connection of photovoltaic sources can have a great impact to power quality such as harmonic injection, short-circuit current, phase imbalances as well as to voltage and protection. It is essential to consider the increase in energy losses and fault currents, particularly during short-circuits. Overview Provides an overview of the types of incidents that impact the service, approach that brieflly explains how a system can detect different dip types based on their simulations Checked, this will help to understand how to detect the different styles voltage dips. It also presents a new technique for encoding the gathered information.

The properties of porous materials and their areas of usage depend on the chemical composition, thermophysical properties of the components and the manufacturing method: almost all porous thermal insulation materials based on silicates lose their ductility, flexibility and impact strength, become brittle and change their original shape at temperatures above 800 degrees C. Therefore, the research and development of equipment and technology for manufacturing materials that can operate under conditions of large temperature ranges, are heat-resistant and do not change the original strength and insulating properties when exposed to high and low temperatures are relevant and require further study. This paper presents experimental data on the influence of various factors on the thermophysical properties of porous materials. Methods and mathematical models for predicting changes in thermophysical properties during heat treatment are also presented. The heat treatment time in the oven causes the greatest influence on the density of finished thermal insulation materials. The longer the heat treatment time is, the lower the density is. Based on the obtained dependencies, we can conclude that the thermal conductivity of the material increases with increasing density. This means that it is necessary to reduce the density of the material while ensuring the required strength in order to obtain a material with better thermal insulation properties.

Mild is a smart stress relief solution created by DSTRS, an European Project Semester student team enrolled at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto in the spring of 2022. This paper details the research performed, concerning ethics, marketing, sustainability and state-of-the-art, the ideas, concept and design pursued, and the prototype assembled and tested by DSTRS. The designed kit comprises a bracelet, pair of earphones with case, and a mobile app. The bracelet reads the user heart beat and temperature to automatically detect early stress signs. The case and mobile app command the earphones to play sounds based on the user readings or on user demand. Moreover, the case includes a tactile distractor, a scent diffuser and vibrates. This innovative multi-sensory output, combining auditory, olfactory, tactile and vestibular stimulus, intends to sooth the user.
