The terminology of Cyber-Physical Production System (CPPS) has been well received by the industrial community and specifically appropriated in educational circles. In this context, we built a collaborative learning model through an international market study that has led us to place ourselves at the heart of this technology. To align with these findings, a competencies-based learning approach (CBL) study was conducted. Thus, this article deals with the development of the CPPS pedagogical device according to a generated curriculum and specific pedagogical activities while respecting the competency referential adopted via compliant and adapted laboratories and the international CDIO framework for a better practical and pedagogical implementation. In this context, the modular cyber- physics technology platform must be adapted to engineer work environment and fed by real industrial projects for better professional integration. A documentary analysis of written and cognitive traces is in progress to list data types and anticipate recursive evolutions of the model.

Interactive technology is a rapidly evolving scientific field that includes advanced human-computer interaction technologies and interactive multimodal user interfaces. These interactive platforms usually are utilizing modern techniques such as internet of things (IOT), augmented reality AR, virtual reality VR and use of sensors. Moreover, there is a developing interdisciplinary scientific field which is trying to integrate modern technology into sports. Computer technology may prove a valuable supportive tool for (a) athletes of all ages to improve their technical skills, and (b) advanced coaching. The aim of this study is to integrate educational and interactive technology into sports in order to support the training of young bowling athletes, raise their engagement to their sport and boost their performance. Following this direction, this research utilizes a system of sensors to apply step tracking of a young athlete during a throw ball attempt. The proposed solution is a European funded project (ERASMUS+) supporting the "Europe 2020 strategy" that stresses the need for transforming educational content for instruction and training in away that engages, motivates, and immerses people to develop personal experiences of constructing their learning experiences.

Environmental education plays a critical role in addressing current environmental challenges. However, it is challenging to effectively engage and motivate students to learn more and have a critical view about it. Therefore to enhance students learning experience in environmental education, this paper presents the development of a gamified app named coralQuest that aims to boost motivation, enjoyment and improve learning outcomes. To evaluate the interaction and user experience of coralQuest, data was collected from log data, questionnaires, and interviews, from 41 children aged 12-14 years old. The results indicate the positive effects of various game elements, like the leaderboard, while highlight that other, like the pedagogical agent, needs more attention for their appropriate inclusion. Further research is necessary on the development of gamified learning environments that effectively engage learners and cultivate positive attitudes in environmental education while catering different demands.

The COVID-19 pandemic has influenced various dimensions of higher education systems globally, including the teaching and learning process of English as a Foreign Language. Pedagogical practice has been altered by the confinement of lockdown measures, which affected the level of student engagement. Consequently, this study aimed to analyze the level of student engagement during the pandemic. A realist evaluation guided the analysis of this study to answer the research question: what worked for the students in this context and why? Descriptive statistics were also used to analyze the results that emerged from a student engagement questionnaire. The results revealed that the level of student engagement varied according to the different dimensions analyzed using the questionnaire instrument. There was a strong connection between student capabilities and the teaching environment. Additionally, it can be concluded that distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown was a successful teaching-learning medium for engaged students that are confident in using technology. It is essential to consider different engagement dimensions in different circumstances to help students achieve the desired learning outcomes during prolonged periods of imposed online learning.

This work aims to assess the credit risk of a financial institution using various machine learning models that are both powerful and interpretable. To meet the challenge posed by imbalanced data, different sampling techniques were tested with machine learning algorithms such as Random Forest (RF) and XGBoost. The results revealed that the RF model combined with Randomoversampler and the XGB model with SMOTEENN offered the best performance in terms of precision, recall, and F1-score. To ensure the comprehensibility of the decisions made by these high-performance models, interpretability techniques such as SHAP and LIME were applied, revealing the relative contributions of the different variables. The study shows that these results are useful for the responsible deployment of decision support models in the financial sector.

Between 2020 and 2021, Mozambican higher education was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and in this scenario, the institutions resorted to the hybrid model;but e-learning in developing countries has not been successfully implemented because many of these countries have a very high digital divide, with low digital literacy and socio-economic problems actively contributing to the failure of the introduction of e-learning in higher education in Mozambique;however, higher education institutions had no choice unless migrating from conventional to e-learning;in this sense, this article aims to analyze the main challenges that students encountered in the learning process in the face of the introduction of e-Leaning, in five Mozambican higher education institutions. The methodological approach proposed in this paper was Quanti-qualitative insofar as the obtaining of the main data was through a survey of 345 students. In addition to the information collected through questionnaires. Given the above, results point to serious difficulties arising from the digital divide. The results show that online learning platforms such as Moodle, WhatsApp, Skype, Moocs, Google Meet, MS Teams and Zoom have been introduced. One of the gaps pointed out by the students was the lack of motivation for online classes, lack of ICT skills, and computer, and mobile resources with internet access, thus contributing to poor performance in the learning process;given these results, we can conclude that if higher education institutions have no urgent structural intervention, the government, parents and guardians to improve ICT access, the country could verge a digital divide.

To further enhance the integration of Robotics in Early Childhood Education (RiECE), teacher training emerges as a vital initiative. Nevertheless, the impact of the training programs necessitates comprehensive evaluation. This case study examines a transdisciplinary STEAM teacher training course that was carried out at Tallinn University in Estonia in the autumn of 2023. Data was collected via a questionnaire from 18 course participants. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data was analysed using thematic analysis. The findings demonstrate that the course had a positive impact on the participants regarding the integration of RiECE in Estonia. This was indicated by increased participant confidence, improved pedagogical abilities, and a favourable change in attitudes towards effectively implementing RiECE into classroom activities. The integration of collaborative learning, together with the fusion of theoretical and practical experiences, emerged as crucial factors enhancing the course's impact on the participants. Despite encountering challenges such as the language barrier and the limited availability of robots in classrooms, the university adeptly addressed these issues. This study exemplifies successful strategies in establishing teacher training programs for integrating robotics in the classroom, providing valuable insights that have the potential to enhance the overall integration of RiECE. Addressing the shortage of STEM professionals is particularly crucial in Estonia, given the country's growing need for skilled individuals in these fields.

This study evaluates the entrepreneurial mindset (EM) among Indian engineering students and assesses the effectiveness of existing measurement frameworks in the Indian context. EM is recognized as a valuable asset for engineering students, enabling them to tackle global challenges and gain a competitive advantage. Incorporating entrepreneurship education is a common practice worldwide to cultivate EM in learners. However, assessing EM development is challenging due to its complexity. The study applies EM measurement frameworks, validated in Western education systems, to assess EM of engineering students at a small private university in India. Quantitative assessments through online surveys are conducted at various points in the students' engineering course through first and second year of engineering. This study recognizes the significance of measuring entrepreneurial mindset in preparing engineering students to address contemporary engineering challenges and foster such mindset for creating innovative solutions. To enhance the EM, it was found necessary to evaluate it in terms of students' self-reported values for parameters such as growth mindset, altruism, empathy, help-seeking, ideation, interest, open-mindedness, entrepreneurial interest, and entrepreneurial self-efficacy arising in Indian educational ecosystem context. This research thus seeks to provide insights into the EM of UG engineering students at a small university in North India, while discussing the applicability of existing EM measurement frameworks to this research.

High dropout rates are a common challenge in higher education, particularly in computer science degree programs. These dropouts impede our ability to produce a greater number of graduates in this highly demanded field due to the limitation of the capacity of students enrolled in the first semester. Identifying the reasons behind dropout is a complex task, as the individuals involved are often inaccessible or unwilling to reflect on their lack of success. This paper aims to investigate the factors contributing to dropout rates in computer science degree programs. Through a comprehensive literature survey and qualitative interviews, we have identified the underlying causes of dropout in our computer science bachelor's degree program. Our findings reveal a range of reasons, with time constraints and misaligned expectations of the degree program emerging as the most frequently mentioned factors in our interviews. Based on these insights, we present several recommendations aimed at reducing the dropout rate.

Experimentation in physics and engineering is undeniably vital for improving the understanding of physical laws and engaging students in the scientific process. Following the guidelines established by the American Association of Physics Teachers, the objectives of introducing students to the physics laboratory include teaching them the art of experimentation, fostering analytical and experimental skills, developing conceptual knowledge, establishing the foundations of physics knowledge, and cultivating collaborative learning abilities. This study aims to demonstrate the implementation of a light laboratory designed for K-5 and K-6 students, as well as educators. Apart of the laboratory materials was presented to science teachers through a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The findings from both laboratories are evaluated based on the comprehension of fundamental laws of light by teachers and students. The educators who participated in the course implemented the experiments in their classrooms and introduced their students to the culture of experimental physics. This research suggests that the educational process of designing an online course on the topic of light can offer original experimental and educational ideas to science teachers, which can be readily tested in classrooms and shared within the broader Physics and Engineering Education community. Specifically, the objective of this study was to assess the feasibility of incorporating innovative learning approaches, such as hands-on experimental teaching using the learning-by-doing method, across essential curricular areas. The students who participated in the online lab gained a deep understanding of the concepts taught in light and optics and were able to successfully apply these concepts.
