Conventional tutoring approaches are confronted with limitations such as restricted availability, inconsistent pedagogical quality, and scalability constraints. Furthermore, the exclusive use of Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT in education has its shortcomings, including the potential for incorrect responses and the lack of customized guidance aligned with specific course content. This research proposes an innovative intelligent chatbot tutoring system, integrating the Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) approach with a custom LLM. The developed system aims to overcome the limitations of traditional tutoring and general-purpose LLMs by providing accurate, contextually relevant, and personalized assistance, thereby enhancing student understanding and engagement. The system, powered by an intelligent agent, retrieves relevant information from curated academic sources, incorporates interactive features for user feedback, and utilizes machine learning algorithms for ongoing performance enhancement, ensuring a robust and effective tutoring experience. The anticipated outcome is an enriched educational experience for university students, advancement in personalized learning, and improved student engagement, retention, and academic performance. Through continuous research and refinement, it is expected that the intelligent chatbot tutor will assume an important role in enhancing and supporting the educational journey of students.

The study presents the results of developing a system to enhance and optimize business processes in the interaction between higher education institutions and students, as well as the engagement of prospective applicants in the learning process. By utilizing Google Search Console an analysis of the website's search traffic was performed. The study identified the most popular queries and the devices through which the highest number of transitions occurred to specific pages. Data collection spanned both a single month (from December 1st to 31st) and a full year (January to December). The trend indicates that people are moving away from information overload and transitioning toward private chats. To explore this further, a survey was conducted among students (48 respondents) at King Danylo University (KDU) to determine which apps they use and how frequently. The results revealed that the most widely used app among students is Telegram (72.9%), followed by Instagram (only 54.2%). Based on the obtained results, utilizing data from leading analytical companies and conducting our own survey, we have selected the platform and method for implementing the system. The outcome is the conceptualization of three Telegram bots: "KDU Addmission" designed to assist prospective students, "KDU Student" tailored for active students and "KDU Schedule" focused on providing schedules. As the final outcome, a system was developed that enables the educational institution to seamlessly interact with educational service recipients-from the moment of admission to graduation. The software product was designed with time requirements in mind, allowing for easy adaptation to new goals and demands.

Access gaps and contextual issues influence using virtual learning environments (VLEs) in basic education. There is a need for comprehensive strategies to enhance digital competencies among educators in Latin America and Mexico's basic education system. This study aimed to understand the acceptance of VLEs by in-service teachers participating in a continuous education program in Mexico and the factors behind it. A questionnaire that included anxiety, perceived utility, attitude towards digital environments, behavior intention, and readiness to use VLEs in education was translated, adapted, and applied. 215 participants answered 20 questions using a Likert scale of 1-6. Of them, 75.3% were female, 93% taught in levels from pre-primary to high school, and 57.2% worked in private schools in the center region of the country. The questionnaire's validity was measured with satisfactory results. The respondents showed low anxiety and a strong willingness to use VLEs. This readiness indicates that continuous education programs can help educators embrace VLEs. However, a longitudinal approach could provide better insights than our cross-sectional study.

We propose a novel feature selection (FS) method based on peculiar fuzzy set generation, aggregation, and ordering. In particular, here we propose to elicit the fuzzy membership by a proper probability-possibility transformation of frequencies stemming from the bootstrap application of different filter FS methods. At the same time, we aggregate such vague scores of each feature via the recently introduced SMART-or fuzzy aggregation operator. Finally, to rank the features for the selection proposal we adopt Yager's ordering. Empirical results on benchmark databases show an overperformance of our approach with respect to different generation techniques, or aggregation functions and orderings.

Programmatic assessment is something that most departments of physics are accustomed to doing, typically on an annual basis. Oftentimes, programmatic assessment is thought of as a mandatory exercise required at the institutional level, one more item on a long list of service tasks performed by faculty. However, when done consistently with the aim of improving student learning, assessment can become part of a department's routine, yielding useful information regarding the overall physics program. Certainly, the nature of the assessment can vary greatly from institution to institution, sometimes depending on the accrediting body. It is our contention that assessment can be used to have a positive influence on curricular and programmatic adjustments in physics as well as in broader Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) departments. This paper aims to provide an updated look at how assessment can be used to inform and guide curricular and programmatic changes and adjustments and to address the question "are we still making the grade?" With a focus on the learning outcomes developed for the physics major, an additional goal of this paper is to provide examples of how curricular assessment is linked to overall program assessment and ultimately to the enhancement of student learning. This paper will also address how the recent pandemic affected student learning and curricular and programmatic assessment efforts. To that end, we present a discussion of how changes to the curricular and programmatic assessment efforts were made, with an emphasis on how these efforts have served to inform assessment activities during and post-pandemic.

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology necessitates addressing the topic of self-regulated learning (SRL) given its potential for personalized learning experiences. Educational Technologies (EdTech) have the capacity to facilitate SRL within educational contexts, particularly in remote learning scenarios. This study explores the interplay between EdTech and SRL, highlighting their synergistic relationship. Through a systematic scoping literature review following the methodology of Peters et al., evidence from 328 records in the Scopus database was synthesized, with an analysis of 112 reports meeting the inclusion criteria published between January 2015 and February 2024. Zimmerman's cyclical phases model emerged as the predominant SRL framework in connection with EdTech. Additionally, the identified EdTechs were categorized into eleven clusters based on shared characteristics and mapped onto Zimmerman's SRL model to create an EdTech-SRL-Synergy-Map. Recommendations are made for future research, particularly in the secondary education sector, and the significance of SRL practices in an educational landscape permeated by AI is emphasized.

Natural Language Understanding (NLU) is considered a core component in implementing Dialogue systems (DS). This paper introduces an NLU module tailored to the Tunisian Dialect (TD) that can further be integrated with Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), a Dialogue Manager (DM), a Natural Language Generator (NLG), and a Speech Synthesis (SS) module to build a fully working DS. Designed specifically for academic and research domain, our closed-domain TUN-NLU corpus undergoes preprocessing, including scraping, automatic normalization, data augmentation, and annotation. We employed the RASA NLU model (https://***/) to evaluate our corpus. The NLU model encompasses tokenization, featurization, intent detection, and entity recognition. Evaluation using standard metrics, including accuracy and F1 score, yielded promising results: 93% accuracy and 92% F1 score for intent detection, and 94% accuracy and 91% F1 score for entity recognition.

With an increased demand for roboticists in the labor market, there is a growing interest in acquiring skills in ROS (Robot Operating System), one of the more popular robotics software development platforms. Most freely available resources for learning ROS rely on simulation or assume that people have a robotics platform at their disposal. In this study we extended professional robotics to self-guided learning using physical hardware by creating a massive open online course (MOOC) for learning ROS. Course participants could log into a web lab and remotely control robots located in a university classroom without the need to install anything locally on their computers. During the 7-week course participants of varying ages and backgrounds learned about the necessary skills to use ROS on a Linux machine through receiving an authentic ROS developing experience. The participants' weekly performance results and answers to a feedback questionnaire were subsequently analysed. The first iteration of this course was completed by 49 participants, with the biggest reason for dropping the course being lack of time. The course demonstrated the possibility of using a remote web lab to teach ROS. This paper summarizes our lessons learned.

African job seekers claim that finding opportunities in the African labour market is difficult and that expectations are too high, while companies believe that job seekers are inexperienced and lack the requisite skills. There is frequently a conflict between traditional education, values, knowledge, and skills, and Western education. At the same time, among the elements of traditional education are the soft skills expected today, which are also emphasized in education. Based on qualitative on-site data collection and source analysis, the study reviews the two different education systems and the skills required today in their traditional and modern contexts, and looks for common, compatible points. It examines the values and skill areas before Western education and their emphasis, role, and their implications in later social processes and their possible role today. As a cultural anthropologist, the author collected "soft" data personally in East-African countries, but there is also the so-called "hard" data, the quantitative information with review different sources, studies, book chapters, news articles. The main result is that the bridge between two educational systems with different backgrounds can be the area of soft skills, bringing local traditions, thinking and goals closer to today's world.

In the European Middle Ages, advancements in science and technology, including engineering and aesthetics, were closely tied to the progress of ecclesiastical ideas and design. These technical developments significantly altered the contemporary world and have continued to influence Europe's cultural and social evolution, including societal perspectives on people with disabilities. Our research investigates the practical implications of these technological advancements and their impact on a society deeply influenced by religion. We specifically focus on how these developments affected the most vulnerable individuals and the longstanding societal bases for the exclusion of people with disabilities. This research primarily utilizes content analysis to uncover insights that clarify the historical role of disability within European societal evolution. Our work aims to foster a correct understanding that transcends the limitations of political decisions, integration laws, and societal expectations, which alone are insufficient to alter deeply ingrained inclinations. Additionally, our research contributes to the fields of technology history and disability history, connecting these areas to offer a new perspective on past and present challenges. This interdisciplinary approach not only addresses historical impacts but also aids in overcoming outdated attitudes towards disability and promotes the strengthening of new competencies for societal integration. Overall, by exploring the intersections of technology, history, and social development, our research provides valuable insights into the complex relationship between societal progress and the inclusion of people with disabilities, aiming to influence both academic fields and practical policy considerations.
