This paper exposes our single-session Walking Robot Workshop for high school students. Students program a walking pattern for real hardware from scratch in four hours. We aim to motivate the students to have a deeper appreciation and understanding of science by emphasizing the interdisciplinary context of the solved task. Hence, a discussion of the direct kinematic task with a three-degrees-of-freedom robot leg is included in the Workshop. The Workshop design and recent experience are described so others can reproduce our results.

Healthcare institutions and service designers must adapt to rapid technological changes and leverage digitalization, especially highlighted by the COVID-19 crisis. The Managing Digital Transformation in the Health Sector (ManagiDiTH) project was created to develop a Master's program aimed at equipping the health sector with specialized digital skills. This program is co-created through international collaboration among universities, industry experts, and healthcare organizations. Effective digital training must combine transversal, sectorial, service design, and technological learning, necessitating interdisciplinary approaches in higher education. Higher education institutions are pivotal in creating new knowledge and innovations, making trialogical learning essential for biomedical and health informatics programs. The ManagiDiTH Master's program draws on expertise from partner institutions in Finland, Greece, and Portugal. It aims to: (i) Develop training references for the European Qualifications Framework. (ii) Implement a trialogical pedagogical model with problem-based learning. (iii) Create an interdisciplinary learning ecosystem with a quadruple helix model. (iv) Upskill graduates from various relevant backgrounds. This paper uses the 'Sensors for Medical Instrumentation and Signal Processing' unit as a case study to examine and improve the program. The unit addresses the growing impact of IoT in healthcare, aiming to produce professionals skilled in managing and processing data securely.

Effective communication skills are essential for sonographers to build trust, to explain examination procedures to the patient in non-technical terms, to alleviate anxiety and gain patient consent and collaboration, and to provide information at a pace suitable for the patient. In order to communicate effectively, the sonographer needs to be able to communicate empathetically, adjusting their communication style to meet the needs of different audiences. This is particularly challenging when working with a diverse and multicultural group of patients where the risk of misinterpretation is higher. Students are provided with the opportunity to practice dialogues with virtual patients that are able to interact as real human beings, communicating concerns, emotions, and moods both at a verbal and non-verbal level. Coaching through digital humans accelerates learning from experience without the risks associated with learning in the field.

The primary purpose of this quantitative prospective causal-comparative study was to determine if and to what extent there is a difference in the overall work engagement of instructional designers who are either working predominantly at home or predominantly in the office in the United States, and the secondary purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of psychological capital on the predictive relationship between work environment and work engagement. The theoretical foundations were work engagement and psychological capital. Based on a sample size of 345, the results illustrate that the work engagement scores for those who work predominantly in the office (mean rank = 221.89) were statistically significantly higher than those who work predominantly at home (mean rank = 122.67, U = 23,431.50, z = 9.25, p < .001) but did not indicate that the interaction effect between types of work environment and psychological capital on work engagement was statistically significant. (B = -0.04, se[HC3] = 0.07, p = 0.58). The results extend research on work engagement by providing evidence that there is a statistically significant difference in mean ranks of work engagement scores between those who worked predominantly at home and those who worked predominantly in the office.

This paper introduces SERTUS (Speech Emotion Recognition TUnisian Spontaneous), an extensive dataset collection intended to propel research in Speech Emotion Recognition (SER), particularly within the realm of Tunisian Dialect (TD). SERTUS encompasses both registers of the Tunisian Dialect: the Popular (familiar) register and the intellectual register, capturing a diverse range of emotions in spontaneous environments and natural interactions across different regions of Tunisia. This work delineates the methodology utilized in crafting SERTUS, highlighting the challenges and strategies involved in capturing spontaneous interactions. Moreover, we underscore the importance of including TD and the multidomain nature of the dataset, illustrating its potential applications in various domains such as sports, politics, and culture. It's imperative to note that this corpus collection adhered to a rigorous protocol to ensure corpus quality, as it will undergo annotation in future research endeavors.

The paper describes the subsequent development of two bachelor's degree projects as part of a commissioned research project for the Czech car manufacturer Skoda Auto. The first bachelor's degree project by R. Hnilica from the field of industrial design focused on developing an interaction design concept of a smart personal assistant, suitable for both children and adult passengers in autonomous cars. The follow-up bachelor's degree project of a small robotic assistant by D. Plachy delivered a working prototype demonstrating partial functionality of the design concept. In the paper, we focus more on the design setup and the description of the process than on the technical details of our solution.

This paper presents a comparative study to assess the performance of the visual transformer (ViT) alongside several convolutional-based models in distinguishing tuberculosis (TB) from healthy and various other lung conditions using chest radiographs. Seven deep learning models including Xception, InceptionNetV3, VGG16, ResNet50, DenseNet201, EfficientNetV2 and the ViT model are selected in this study for comparison on the TBX11K dataset. Empirical results revealed the superiority of established convolutional models, especially ResNet50, over the ViT model in TB recognition by reaching 99.22%, 98.27%, 99.08%, and 99.62% for accuracy, recall, precision and specificity, respectively. This study contributes to the medical field by emphasizing the crucial role of deep learning (DL) model selection in medical image analysis for automatic TB diagnosis from chest x-rays.

English in higher education is expected to surpass and be the main provider of academic opportunities, knowledge and skills. Motivational games are presented as an innovative, educational and adaptable proposal compared to traditional methods. This study explores the impact of motivational games on the oral competence of university students. The population was made up of 30 students in the fourth semester of the Pedagogy of Foreign Language (PINE) program at Technical University of Ambato. The process of this quasi-experimental research began with the collection of data through a pre-test and post-test that evaluated the speaking skills of the students prior to the application and treatment with motivational games. For the pre-test and post-test, the third part of the oral PET exam (Preliminary English Test) a standardized English evaluation was used. These pre- and post-tests were applied to the experimental group of 30 students at the beginning of the research in face-to-face modality applying the four criteria prescribed by the PET test: 1. grammar and vocabulary 2. pronunciation 3. discourse management 4. interactive communication. The results indicate a significant improvement in progress (46.77%) across a total mean of all 30 students and all four criteria. Finally, the Shapiro test was generated, which helped determine the rejected null hypothesis. The results and studies carried out allow us to confidently affirm the influence of motivational games on the development of students' speaking skills by addressing challenges such as pronunciation and promoting confidence when speaking. Motivational games allow students to develop cooperation, critical thinking, decision making and healthy competition.

Imagery can make learning easier and faster, so teachers need to know how to use and develop different ways of using it. Studies related to this have been conducted in the STEM academic and work fields [1]. The combined use of different imagery modes is important in engineering, for example to avoid design errors that cause accidents that are difficult to foresee when using only one imagery mode [2]. We know the most about object visual imagery, but even its precise measurement is only possible in a laboratory setting. In our experiment, we developed an online computer-administered test, a Hungarian version of a test found in the literature, which aimed to measure object visual imagery, and from their results, the researchers concluded that using one's native language results in a more vivid object visual imagery compared to using a foreign language. In addition to the mentioned test, our participants also completed the Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire (VVIQ), the Internal Representations Questionnaire (IRQ), and a background questionnaire. The results of our adapted test positively correlate with VVIQ scores (0.5***), thus indicating a relationship with the participant's object visual imagery. Considering the results of the IRQ and the background questionnaire, it is further likely that there is a relationship between language use and object visual imagery. 74 students from Janos Selye University in Slovakia, preparing to teach various subjects, completed the test online in Hungarian as their mother tongue in a computer room. SPSS was used to analyze the results.

This paper presents an experimental pipeline and an annotation scheme for enriching text with semantic information by leveraging implicit information extracted from Abstract Meaning Representation (AMR). AMR, as an unanchored semantic representation language, encodes a wide range of information that can be useful for downstream NLP tasks. This implicit knowledge encompasses frames, semantic roles, numeric value labels, concept grounding to Wikipedia entries, and fine-grained relationship types. The extracted information can improve the performance of existing logic-based end-to-end question-answering pipelines that rely on deterministic rule-driven semantic parsers for text-to-logic conversion based on Universal Dependencies (UD).
