The need for systemic change in sustainability transitions is challenging the formats of architectural and engineering education. However, there are still few possibilities (if at all) for architectural and engineering students to engage with the students at technical schools and craftspeople directly and to develop a thorough understanding of how practical, hands-on knowledge can inform design and engineering and vice versa. The lack of structural exchanges between students at different level institutions jeopardizes continuity between design and practice;it further creates a divide between future engineers and craftspeople;and by extension, it compromises the implement-ability of sustainability approaches. This paper discusses the experience of a cross-level learning collaboration for a course on circular product design. It describes the course set up, and especially the structured exchanges between architecture and engineering students with students of carpentry to develop one to one scale prototypes using biobased materials. An in-depth analysis of the course outcomes and student feedback help identify the benefits and the challenges of engaging in learning exchanges and their respective implications for students and tutors alike. Results illustrate the intricacies of said collaborations and how they ultimately affect pedagogy and learning.

This research is dedicated to a pressing issue of today - the study of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Was examined the labor market in the IT sector to determine which competencies are most crucial for programmer specialists. Based on an analysis of scientific sources, opinions of leading IT experts, and statistical studies of IT companies, the introduction of the educational component Machine Learning into the studying process of the Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy according to the educational standard and the educational-professional program Computer Science. Were identified principles of the interdisciplinary approach, and based on these principles was developed a model of the Machine Learning course. Relying on interdisciplinary connections and principles, the content of the course, methods, and pedagogical technologies were developed. According to the results of the theoretical study, the authors defined the goal of the experimental work - to test the quality of the proposed Machine Learning course model. The authors formulated the main criteria by which the quality of the developed course model will be assessed in the next stage of the research.

Building a quality management system (QMS) relies heavily on two key steps: mapping and modeling business processes. The process approach, a core principle of QMS, emphasizes identifying and managing processes and their interactions systematically. This ensures achieving desired outcomes aligned with the organization's policies and strategic goals. Following this approach, organizations need to establish, implement, maintain, and continuously improve their quality management system (SQM), encompassing all relevant processes and their connections, to meet regulatory requirements. This article aims to present our approach for extending the BPMN formalism by a quality dimension based on the MDA approach and on an ontological approach for the definition of a meta-model for the quality management which covers the ISO 9001 Norm.

In the era of information overload, distinguishing between real and fake news is a critical challenge, particularly in public social networking domains. For this purpose, an approach based on the synergy accomplished by a Neurosymbolic AI system, powered with Fuzzy Logic techniques, is introduced to achieve understandable fact-checking classification results. The work proposes a fact-checking approach based on Knowledge Graph Embedding (KGE) techniques. It extracts the involved entities from textual data in the form of triples that, projected in a vector space, form graphs that effectively highlight contextual information. The classification results are interpreted by exploiting fuzzy set modelling, which aims to improve the presentation of the final results. Specifically, we use the Hits@N metric to design fuzzy variables whose linguistic terms reflect news distribution. Then, by exploiting fuzzy rule design, human-like classification performance evaluation is provided. Through experimental evaluation of the benchmark dataset, our approach shows its effectiveness in discriminating between real and fake news, enhanced by straightforward explanations driven by the fuzzy rule design.

Predictive medicine aims to improve the stratification and management of individuals according to their probability of developing a pathology in the future. The risk of breast cancer is influenced by multiple factors, such as lifestyle, age, breast density, and family history. Nevertheless, radiologists face challenges in accurately classifying breast density from mammogram images due to the inter-observer subjectivity problem. To address this issue, artificial intelligence systems, especially deep learning techniques, have been exploited. The purpose of this research paper is to review the current state of research on the use of machine learning and deep learning based approaches for breast density classification.

Within the higher education sector, blended learning strategies succeed largely because of their promise to deliver the best of both worlds to students: face-to-face education and online learning. The implementation of blended learning in courses and programmes is commonly associated with an enhanced student experience resulting from broader access to learning resources, improved interactivity and cooperation, increased participation and motivation, and increased control of students' own learning. This paper presents a design model that can assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of blended learning courses. The model is supported by a review of the literature and a multiple case study analysis of three higher education courses, in Australia. The design model is composed of six core elements: early planning and clear communication, in-class active learning, appropriate online technology selection, engaging online content and activities, student online and in-class assessment, and multi-layered course evaluation.

The relevance of the initiated research is determined by the fact that artificial intelligence has the potential to become a key tool in the transformation of education, because it can adapt to the individual needs of each student. The purpose of the study is to determine the methodological principles of using artificial intelligence for the individualization of learning in higher education institutions, to identify specific challenges and unsolved aspects of this process, as well as to substantiate practical recommendations for the development and implementation of AI in higher education. The article analyzes the theoretical fundamentals of artificial intelligence application in the field of higher education, identifies key problems and obstacles that arise during the implementation of individualized training using artificial intelligence, proposes a strategy for improving the use of technologies, based on the application of artificial intelligence to enhance the effectiveness of education;proposals, regarding further development and improvement of the system of individualized education using artificial intelligence are substantiated. The use of artificial intelligence has significant potential for creating individualized educational programs that meet the individual needs of the students of higher education establishments. The results of the study confirm the need for continuous improvement of the infrastructure and pedagogical approaches to ensure the effective use of artificial intelligence in the educational process. The general consolidation of efforts of all stakeholders will contribute to the maximum use of the benefits of personalized learning with the help of AI.

We present a concept of a study examining the didactic integration and impact of Jupyter notebooks within higher education across up to 42 universities in Germany under the *** project. The project aims to enhance the quality of teaching, research, and learning by providing easy access to a virtual working environment through a centralized JupyterHub. This platform supports collaborative and inclusive learning irrespective of the students' hardware capabilities through browser-based Jupyter notebooks. Literature indicates that Jupyter notebooks can engage students and foster the development of crucial skills. To contribute to the research, we use a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data, delivered by the *** project to investigate good practices integrating Jupyter notebooks into higher education curricula and to identify variables influencing the use of Jupyter notebooks in teaching practices, grounded in Roger's diffusion of innovation theory (DIT). Additionally, we assess the impact of Jupyter notebooks on teaching and learning across various disciplines using a descriptive analysis focusing on the constructs interaction and students' learning experience, based on Kolb's experiential learning theory (ELT). The aim of this paper is to outline a first draft of a procedure for conducting a mixed-method study.

Case-based learning is widely used for teaching in a single scientific domain but not very much elaborated and mature for interdisciplinary student teams. The main challenge is to design case studies which contain both domain specific, intradisciplinary research problems and elements which require interdisciplinary teamwork. Both aspects need to have a sufficient depth to be relevant in higher education and digital case elements integrated where possible to simulate a real-world context behind the case problems. For a realistic and complex learning setting, the case should be derived from real industrial problems which allows company cooperation and challenge-based learning approaches. As an interesting add-on, the cases should support the work in virtual cross-border projects which involves approaches used in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) settings. Designing, validating, using, and evaluating such case studies requires an elaborated approach going beyond traditional case writing. In our contribution we present (1) the methodology of deriving the real, in-depth case studies supported by digital elements and (2) the guideline on writing-up such case studies, both validated by interviews with industry partner(s), academic experts, and students in (international) Master's programmes in industrial engineering, informatics and business studies.
