This paper introduces a novel fuzzy association rule mining algorithm explicitly developed for federated environments. With exponential growth in datasets and increasing data privacy concerns, solutions such as federated learning have become at the forefront of secure and efficient data analysis. However, efficiently finding meaningful and relevant patterns in data across decentralized databases remains challenging. To address this, we propose integrating fuzzy logic with association rule mining in a federated setting. The ability of fuzzy logic to handle uncertainty and nuance in data combined with the distributed data mining process of federated systems, creates an efficient, secure, and powerful tool for pattern discovery. Our proposed algorithm respects data privacy and effectively manages communication overhead, an innate challenge in federated systems. Experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed algorithm. The system has significant implications for the healthcare sector, where data volume and privacy concerns are paramount.

Among the increasing number of health issues related to aging and the growing elderly population, there is an urgent need for new ways to improve wellbeing among older adults. Recognizing the complex connection between mental and physical well-being emphasizes the importance of comprehensive approaches that address health for the elderly population. In the context of the DAISy project, this paper introduces an architectural framework for a proactive system designed to promote healthy behaviors among the elderly population. Leveraging wearable device sensor data, the system collects real-time user information to generate personalized interventions adapted to individual needs and preferences. At the core of the system's functionality is the use of advanced generative AI, leveraging Large Language Models to produce customized interactions based on user data insights. By combining sensor data analysis with AI-driven text generation, the system aims to deliver adaptive and personalized experiences, thus addressing the complex challenges elderly individuals face in maintaining their health and quality of life.

One of the forms to fight the spread of hate speech is to reply to such utterances with counter speech. In this paper, we present models to identify counter speech, based on an annotated set of comments to Youtube videos spoken in Portuguese. We leverage the sequence of replies to comments, to form a corpus of pairs of comments, where a target is labelled as neutral, hate speech or counter speech, relative to a context, which corresponds to a preceding comment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first corpus with counter speech examples in Portuguese. Using such corpus, we compute models by fine-tuning pre-trained models based on Transformers, and experiment with both multilingual and Portuguese pre-trained models. Our approach follows a recent work for English, both in corpus design and experimental setup, and we obtain similar performance results in Portuguese. The purpose of the article is to highlight the possibilities of collaborative pedagogy, in particular mentoring, for the development of STEM competencies and soft skills of students and to present the experience of implementing the SchoolTechno programmes at Donetsk National Technical University. The implementation of the SchoolTechno project is based on the concept of STEM education and the principles of collaborative pedagogy, including mentoring, as effective tools for developing students' professional competencies and soft skills. The direct beneficiaries of SchoolTechno are secondary school students who work in teams with their teachers under the mentorship of university students of technical and engineering specialties. The experts in the programme are university professors and representatives of business and the public sector. The participation of such a wide range of stakeholders is beneficial for each of the individual groups, as they share experiences and acquire completely new skills not specific to their target group while studying and working on projects. Moreover, the combination of STEM education, collaborative pedagogy, and mentorship in projects like SchoolTechno provides a fertile ground for the development of students' creativity.

In this study, we attempt to address the question: How does the application of teaching video materials, developed through the Academy for Business project and using Flipped Classroom Method (FCM), support the formation of EdTech knowledge and thereby an EdTech entrepreneurial mindset in students? In answering the research question, we are theoretically guided by the understanding that an EdTech entrepreneurial mindset can be cultivated through acquired knowledge and a learning environment that fosters learning, thus ensuring a positive experience. The results of this study confirm that the implementation of FCM helps students acquire the intended EdTech knowledge and provides them with a supportive learning environment. Although the duration of the study was relatively short, the students acknowledged the growth in their knowledge in each of the topics studied and demonstrated their readiness to apply this newfound knowledge in the future.

The paper presents a conception of a distributed database of video data for educational purpose. The study was conducted at the Kazan Federal University, the Kazan National Research Technological University, and the Kazan State Power Engineering University. Sharing the distributed data to improve educational content and digital resources designed to serve the processes of digitalization in the Russian educational system is under analysis. Features of this conception include: stack metadata structure that provides inheritance and personalized liability in the educational information database;secure storage of texts, audio and video coding using watermarks;taking into account the structure of the speech signal based on the algorithms of its selection;connecting and maintaining the work of an intelligent analyzer. The experimental study (N = 350) involving teachers and higher education students working in schools included initial and formative stages. The result of the initial stage made it possible to reveal fragmented experience, low motivation and unformed readiness of the majority of practicing teachers for the use of a distributed educational database. Students from control and experimental groups were involved in the formative stage. Accordingly, statistically significant positive results were obtained, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed concept.

This paper examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Repertory Grid Technique (RGT) in enhancing the role of the instructor as a facilitator in the architectural design studio (ADS) at the United Arab Emirates University. By leveraging AI to generate text-based images from students' architectural perceptions, and employing RGT to deepen their engagement, the study explores how these technologies can aid first-year students in designing brand images. Implemented in one first-year design studio section, the approach involved eliciting the preferred architectural images through student narratives, which were then visualized using AI, lastly using them as inspiration material. Results from structured interviews suggest that the framework was helpful for the students while maintaining the instructor's role as facilitator, though further refinement and more extensive student interaction with AI tools are recommended for enhanced learning outcomes.

In February 2020, 500 h of video were uploaded to YouTube every minute, including numerous videos from the education sector [19, 20]. If you are looking for suitable teaching or learning videos, for example, this mass of videos makes it much more difficult to select. In the course of an implementation project with Bachelor students, teaching videos in the German language on the topic of mathematics on YouTube were examined and how they can be found for teachers and learners. From the results of this research, a database of selected videos and the corresponding search terms and difficulty levels was created in an exploratory manner. In addition, a chatbot was implemented to support users in their search for learning and teaching videos. The initial analysis showed that there are only a dozen channels that provide the majority of learning content for the subject of mathematics. The technical solution shown is able to extend this result and suggest existing but less known educational videos. The present study thus provides both a theoretical and practical complement to user-centred teaching-learning scenarios.

In this exploratory study, we inquire about the potential of the certainty-based marking (CBM) strategy for the activation of metacognitive self-assessment processes by means of the questioning of the degrees of certitude comparing four different disciplinary areas in Higher Education: Primary Teacher Education, Secondary Teacher Education, Physio-psychology and Microeconomics. In all these areas, the instructors implement one same instructional design with a double diagnostic and formative purpose. Out of 1,325 enrolled students, 951 eventually participate in this first experience of certainty-based self-assessment responding to a 10-multiple-choice-item test with questions presented for (self-)diagnosis at the beginning of the semester for each course in the project. Results show significant yet small differences regarding three research variables: disciplinary area (psychology, economics, teacher education), educational level (either pre-graduate or post-graduate), and instructional value of the questions (prior formal knowledge versus prior informal knowledge). The most salient results refer to the degree of certitude in case of mistaken answer, which points to useless or pernicious knowledge. The area of economics, in particular, presents contrasting results with respect to a high degree of certainty.

A key objective of STEM education globally is to cultivate leading experts in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. However, despite the focus of professional development programs on strong leadership, enhancing teacher capacity, and offering educational guidance, STEM teachers often encounter challenges adapting to transdisciplinary integration reforms in their classrooms. Hence, there is an urgent need for high-quality professional development programs that can effectively prepare teachers for implementing STEM education. To address this issue, this examines physics teachers' pedagogical needs regarding STEM education. The article aims to show teachers' experiences with STEM education across various school types and geographical locations in Kazakhstan. For this purpose, we have conducted a qualitative study, surveying 164 physics teachers in Almaty, one of Kazakhstan's biggest cities. As the study results showed, 104 teachers indicated having only a slight knowledge of STEM education, while 46 teachers reported that do not acquire any knowledge of STEM education, and 14 teachers claimed to possess expert knowledge. Furthermore, it was determined that 43.9% of the participants expressed the need for specific professional development programs to effectively implement STEM education in their classes. This study underscores the urgent necessity for targeted interventions to enhance teacher capacity in integrating STEM principles into their classrooms effectively.
