In numerous machine learning algorithms, the computation of eigenvectors and eigenvalues plays a pivotal role in optimizing models. Depending on the specific use case, it is frequently adequate to compute only a subset of dominant eigenvectors or utilize estimations. Handling this task for large matrices poses a challenge, as standard machine learning packages often lack suitable implementations. We explores various techniques for approximating dominant eigenvectors in the context of potentially large symmetric, real-valued matrices and offer an overview of established methods, analyzing their potentials and limitations, including implementation details.

Metaverse is a term used to describe a hypothetical shared virtual space where people can interact with a computer-generated environment and each other, and there are multiple metaverses currently being developed by various companies and organizations. Cooperation in the metaverse is at the core of the ongoing digital revolution that impacts the way we design and deliver overall education and training. Medical simulation is a powerful way to deliver education and training, based on the use of technology and other techniques to recreate clinical scenarios for the purpose of teaching and training healthcare professionals and students. This article is about how to involve learners in a metaverse within the medical simulation field. The key questions that we address are as follows: What is the metaverse today? What will it look like in a few years? How do we enhance medical simulation based on cooperation in the metaverse? How do we engage learners with diversity and inclusion?

The pandemic period enforced lecturers and students to face new challenges and search for alternatives to the standard presence educational process. This paper presents a simulator-based approach to teaching mobile robotics topics, such as localization, mapping, and navigation. Chatbots, which can answer questions using artificial intelligence, are increasingly finding their way into everyday school life. Artificial intelligence has long been part of our everyday lives, even if we are not always aware of it. When search engines provide us with certain results depending on our previous online behavior, navigation systems help us avoid traffic jams, or voice assistants fulfill our music wishes, there is ultimately always an AI behind it. The program ChatGPT from OpenAI, released in November 2022, is a chatbot that is able to provide human answers to all kinds of questions using AI. ChatGPT can be used in different languages and it can ideally mimic the user's writing style, allowing a believable and natural interaction. This publication analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of ChatGPT from the users' point of view and from the pedagogical point of view, and it focuses on threats and opportunities that an AI tool like ChatGPT can generally exhibit. It explores the questions of whether educational institutions should ban AI applications such as ChatGPT or whether educators should adapt their style of teaching and give ChatGPT a specific place in the classroom.

In 2012, I published a book chapter called "Educational Robotics Theories and Practice: tips for how to do it right," focusing on the theoretical foundation of educational robotics and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning through educational robotics as a learning tool. The pedagogical approaches include the "learner-centered approach," "project-/inquiry-based approach," "supporting student learning with good scaffolding," and "promoting documentation." The chapter was written even before Computing/Computer Science (CS) Education was officially introduced to schools (i.e., The U.K. made computing teaching compulsory from the age of 5 in 2014). The paper revisits the chapter and reexamines the pedagogical approaches, including those in CS education and engineering education, to update the knowledge base to deepen the understanding of the power of educational robotics (ER) in constructionist learning environments. It aims to support educators who are new to ER learning but interested in integrating constructionist ER learning practices in their teacher education or/and teacher professional development programs as well as in their classrooms.

This paper is about the design and the pedagogical applications of a modular robot called esieabot. The robot has been used as part of an engineering curriculum and has already been distributed to more than a thousand students. The authors explain the technological choices and compare with other available platforms used in education. Uses of the robot in different educational activities are discussed. The results show that when each student has their own robot, it encourages the development of ideas outside the classroom and stimulates creativity. It has also been observed that the manipulation of this tool facilitates multidisciplinary approaches in the classroom. Future work will focus on setting up a systematic measurement of the impacts of the robot's application in educational activities. It will also include an analysis of the obstacles to the adoption of this educational tool, particularly in terms of maintenance and teacher training.

This paper will compare two free versions of robotic simulation programs. All of them aim to offer an entrance into the world of robots in an easy way and with fewer resources. How can it enhance these student learning? This paper will compare two free versions of robotic simulation programs, IDE HedgeHog and Thymio Suite. One system is a web-based simulation in a web browser and does not need an installation. The other is a program on the computer;therefore, a program is to download and install on the computer. Both have different program languages, like text-based or visual-based programming languages, for different difficulty levels. A research design in which 124 students were asked to solve different tasks and responded to an online survey indicates that both simulations are user-friendly and helpful for beginners. They are useful tools to engage students in educational robotics activities or test programme codes in a virtual environment before they are transferred to physical settings.

This project addresses the need to develop cultural identity of citizens in the urban context, and well as sharing of such identities with others as global citizens. This is seen as a necessity to develop the sense of one's own identity and culture, as well as the understanding for each other, especially in the major cities of "immigrant nations" where people from different backgrounds live, work and/or study together. In order to address this need, identity education (IdEd) is used as a framework to present a solution, a way to support the development of cultural identities through city museums. The needs for the inquiry in city museums and identity education through the institutions, and the theoretical framework to support the inquiry are analyzed and articulated in the paper. More importantly, a learner-centered IdEd assessment framework is introduced to facilitate the overall analysis on the identity narrative and the learning experience design of city museum, which is supposed to offer some guidelines for direct observations of the visitors' experiences and evaluations of curators' decisions as well as technological supports for instructional purposes from the IdEd perspective.

Focusing on the intimate relationship between encounter and education, this paper discusses evaluation findings from a collaborative and project-based course in the higher education sector. The course engages students in the development and implementation of collaborative projects in the field of Religious Education with a special focus on cultural and religious diversity. The empirical findings, therefore, focus on students' experiences in collaborative and project-based settings-face-to-face (Face-to-face interaction in this article means analog, physical collaboration.) and digitally-with a special emphasis on encounter in religiously diverse groups. This paper analyzes the planning, execution, and critical reflection of learning experiences through collaboration and encounter. It thereby discusses the structure, the methodology, and the outcomes of the course with a focus on the experience of encounter. The study uses digital feedback and evaluation methods for the evaluation research. By doing so, the study investigates and reflects the quality of students' experiences through encounter in religiously diverse groups and possible influences on learning. It also discusses the question of how these experiences can be constructively implemented to improve future collaborative scenarios in the higher education sector.

Based on new methods and algorithms to improve the detection of emotions from facial expressions employing sophisticated software during certain situations, we explore if a virtual robotic animal appearance design with the role of a virtual instructor can affect such emotions in users. A total of 131 students from two secondary public schools in Bogota, Colombia, participated in this study. We used an established facial emotion recognition software called "FaceReader" to analyze data recorded during their class. The results showed that the virtual robot animal's appearance could affect participants' emotional facial expressions when it was a virtual instructor in this study. The study contributes to our understanding of the visual appearance of virtual animals related to emotional facial expressions and their future enforcement concerning advances in artificial intelligence and educational robotics for accurate recognition of the emotions of users.
