The testing of the statistically significant similarities between two different data series cannot be measured using by Wilcoxon or T paired test, because there is not exists pretest and posttest. For the alternative way of testing the similarities, when data has some boundness, the proposal of using cross-correlation tests is presented in this paper. When necessary, the condition is existing some same characteristics, which can be seen as the connection of two power system nodes in the power transmission system. The cross-correlation analysis can be suitably complemented using by computing the p values between the correlation data themselves, which in addition, the trend of correlation data is measured for expression of the dynamic of cross-correlation achieved data. Application of the proposed method is realized on the real data set of the behavior of power transmission systems in the Moravia-Silesian region. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Multicriteria analyses, their preparation, and comparative analysis of the results obtained from the assessment of projects with the application of several MCA methods are the subject of this research. The issue of research in this paper is the conceptual solutions for the railway section Bitola—Resen, for which different methods of multicriteria analysis will be applied, and a critical comparison of the results obtained according to each method will be made. Multicriteria analyses, their preparation, and comparative analysis of the results obtained from the assessment of projects using multiple methods are the center of interest of this research. First, the three conceptual solutions for a railway section Bitola—Resen will be presented. Then, the methods by which the multicriteria evaluation will be done will be explained, and only then will the comparison and assessment of the variants be made. This paper presents a methodology for route selection in the planning and designing railways based on multiple criteria decision-making. The proposed method provides a complete and systematic solution to this problem. The result of the methodology is the most suitable route following the adopted criteria and existing constraints. Influences of Specimen and Fiber Sizes on the Direct Tensile Resistance of Ultra-High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concretes 1

Ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) is a new class of concrete material that produces superior compressive strength (more than 150 MPa). In addition, UHPFRC shows significant improvements in post-cracking strength, strain capacity, and specific work to fracture based on the strain hardening behavior under tension. Thus, UHPFRC is expected as a potential material for civil infrastructure although several of its properties have not been published yet. This study aims to evaluate influences of specimen and fiber sizes on the tensile performance of UHPFRCs. Two sizes of specimen and two sizes of smooth and twisted fibers were used in the production of UHPFRCs. From the experimental test results, the tensile behavior of UHPFRC could change from strain hardening behavior to softening behavior as the specimen size increased, whereas the increase of fiber size did not alter the strain hardening behavior of UHPFRC. The tensile performance of UHPFRC was highly dependent on the fiber size and specimen size. The post-cracking strength increased, but the strain capacity significantly reduced with increasing the specimen size. On the contrary, the post-cracking strength decreased, but the strain capacity marginally enhanced with increasing the fiber sizes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Profound Sedation Detection Based on Brain Waves Analysis 1

The main goal of this study is to precisely determine the optimum anesthetic dosage required for surgical procedures by evaluating the degree of deep sedation in patients. Anesthesiologists can control the right dose of sedative to guarantee patient comfort and safety during a medical treatment by being aware of the brain waves connected to deep sedation. The electroencephalogram, or EEG, is used as a tool to assess brain activity to identify the deep phase of sedation. The detection method involves analyzing EEG signals imported from an open database in order to extract significant features, followed by preprocessing to remove artifacts related to internal and external factors that can disturb the signal, such as muscle movement, heartbeat, etc., by using Butterworth bandpass filters, the filtered signal is then divided into four separate frequency bands (beta, alpha, theta, and delta). The FFT approach is used to identify the dominating band as the last stage, enabling researchers to extract pertinent information and choose appropriate sedative levels. These procedures are carried out with the aid of LabVIEW software, which has a dedicated Toolkit for the biomedical industry and enables the visualization of the results on a practical and effective graphical interface. In addition, the use of LabVIEW as a processing tool emphasizes the significance of the field of physiological signal processing and demonstrates its potential to streamline and enhance research methodologies in related studies. The outcomes of this study demonstrated that the delta wave, which represents the profound state of sedation, dominates the other waves with a dominance rate of 98.59%. These findings may help to develop sedation monitoring methods in clinical settings. Healthcare providers can improve the dose of a sedative lowering the risk of under- or over-sedation, and enhancing the patient's experience during surgical procedures by precisely detecting the deep phase of sedation using EE

Sign language is an indispensable mode of communication for the hard of hearing and deaf population. However, there is still a substantial language barrier between users of sign language and those who do not use it. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have garnered significant attention for their ability to collect and transmit data in various applications. However, ensuring secure communication in WSNs poses significant challenges due to resource constraints and the inherent vulnerability of WSNs to various attacks. Recently, Renuka et al. proposed a multi-factor authentication protocol for WSNs. In this paper, we thoroughly examined Renuka et al. protocol, and several vulnerabilities are demonstrated, which namely comprise privileged insider attacks, stolen smart card attacks, and ephemeral secret leaking attacks. The EMBER dataset is a popular malware samples dataset open to researchers to evaluate. Despite its wide coverage in various proposals and papers, there are no evaluations of EMBER with a simplified (binary) data representation. In this paper, we propose 1) a simplified data representation of EMBER and 2) a proprietary feature selection method called ESFS (Ember Special Feature Selection) tailored to this representation. We demonstrate that simplified data representation is a viable alternative to the original representation and that the ESFS method improves the performance of all evaluated models above the conventional methods (Pearson correlation and information gain). Lastly, we use the best-performing model (J48) to extract and visualise several example rules for malware classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

A three-dimensional (3D) object scanner is a device that captures and creates a digital 3D representation of a physical object. With the growing demand for faster development of 3D models, there is a need for increased production rates. As a result, it is essential for this technology to be cost-effective and easily accessible to consumers. This can be achieved by making use of affordable components and ensuring that the necessary resources are readily available. To overcome this main issue, it is proposed to build a low-cost standalone 3D scanning system that uses information from a Sharp IR sensor and web camera to generate digitized 3D models. These models may subsequently be utilized in digital animation or 3D printing for a range of purposes such as toys, prosthetics, antiquities, and so on. Another focus of this 3D scanner is to classify an object and present its information by using an image processing approach. Additionally, two-dimensional (2D) images to 3D mesh conversion are carried out algorithmically to provide information about scanned objects to newcomers in the field of electronics. Experimental analysis is performed for identifying the capacitor through the integration of a 3D scanner controlled by Arduino. The outdated educational technologies are being replaced by e-learning technologies, which expand the possibilities of traditional education both in terms of facilities and new pedagogical methods. The use of such an innovative learning tool as the learning management system Moodle allows for objective and automated control of students’ knowledge. With the help of LMS Moodle teachers can conduct electronic tests, save information about test results, analyze it and form individual tests on this basis. The quality of an electronic test is determined mainly by its reliability, which consists in the accuracy of measurements and the stability of test results to the action of extraneous random factors. Teachers should take into account a number of factors that influence the reliability of a test. Special attention should be paid to the content, differentiation and difficulty level of test tasks. To date, several methods have been developed to evaluate test reliability, including the split-half method, which involves a single test. This paper analyzes the impact of various factors on the level of satisfaction of passengers using airline services. A dataset of 25 976 airline customers was taken for the work, which contained 22 attributes related to both the services provided by the company and the passengers themselves. Two methods, Koho- nen map method and decision tree method were initially used for the analysis. Kohonen maps were used to divide the data into clusters, and cluster parameters were obtained, which showed the significance of the attributes. With the help of decision tree, an attribute significance table was obtained which also showed the level of significance of the attributes. After the first iteration, the decision tree method showed the best result, so this method was chosen for further work. Next, different groups of attributes were analyzed and the errors of the algorithms for each group of attributes were obtained. Correlation analysis was also done which showed the degree of association between the attributes and the target variable. The attributes with greater importance, i.e., having a greater impact on the target variable, were found. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
