The Lean Smart Maintenance concept has been developed to provide an optimal and targeted maintenance strategy. By implementing this concept, manufacturing companies can achieve an efficient maintenance program for their CNC machines, which is a crucial component in ensuring the continued operation and the overall success of the manufacturing process. Moreover, maintenance resources are minimized as maintenance measures are performed more effectively. Both planned and unplanned shutdowns are considered. In this paper, the focus is on a comprehensive consideration of maintenance in a SAP-based, medium-sized company with an inhomogeneous machine park and the digital networking of all departments. The data-based model follows a centralized approach from the maintenance technician’s mobile device, over the warehouse management of the maintenance to sales information with the use of advanced planning and scheduling software. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Performance Evaluation of Machine Learning Models for Intrusion Detection in Wireless Sensor networks: A Case Study Using the WSN DS Dataset 1

The security of Wireless Sensor networks (WSNs) depends on effective Intrusion Detection systems (IDSs), which are susceptible to Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. This research paper assesses the performance of three machine learning models, namely KNN, Logistic Regression, and Decision Tree (DT), using the WSN DS dataset for WSN intrusion detection. The dataset featured DoS attacks of several types: scheduling, blackhole, flooding, and gray hole attacks. Each model’s performance metrics were calculated and compared, including precision, recall, and F-1 score. Results showed that the DT model consistently outperformed the other models, demonstrating its effectiveness in accurately predicting different types of DoS attacks. The DT model exhibited superior performance with respect to macro-precision, macro-recall, and macro-F-1 score, achieving values of 0.98 each. In contrast, the logistic regression and kNN models yielded lower values of 0.98, 0.96, 0.97, and 0.87, 0.85, 0.86, respectively. These findings have significant implications for practitioners and researchers working on securing WSNs against DoS attacks and highlight the importance of using machine learning-based IDSs to detect and mitigate security threats in WSNs. This study enhances our knowledge of the detection of intrusions in WSNs. It offers guidance for creating strong security measures to ensure these networks’ dependable and secure functioning. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Kariat Arekmane, located in the Nador region of northeastern Morocco, has been the scene of significant coastal erosion over the years. This development has had detrimental consequences for the environment, local populations and economic activities. The causes of this erosion include natural factors such as waves and ocean currents, as well as human factors, notably overexploitation of marine resources and unregulated coastal development. To counter this phenomenon, a detailed analysis of coastline evolution was undertaken, with a granulometric study and time series analysis using the DSAS extension in a GIS-ARCGIS environment. The results revealed significant erosion, with average shoreline retreat of around 0.66 m/year along sandy coasts and cliff areas. The western beach saw an accretion of 0.21 m/year thanks to protective riprap. Overall, the average rate of change of the Kariat Arekmane coastline is 1.102 m/year. Sediment transport, influenced by longshore drift, was estimated at 60,000 m3 in the study area, while wind transit was measured at 4.5 m3/ml/year seaward and 13.5 m3/ml/year landward. Scientific research continues to play a key role in understanding coastal erosion at Kariat Arekmane, with studies on erosion processes, wave dynamics and the impacts of climate change. These efforts are aimed at anticipating future changes, guiding coastal management and protection measures, and ensuring the sustainable development of the region. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The impact of climate change on agriculture is pronounced due to the size and sensitivity of the sector. In Montenegro, as in the region, there is no officially defined methodology on the procedure and manner of determining the damage caused by climate change, as well as the methodology for assessing future harmful economic impacts caused by climate change. The aim this paper is to assess future adverse economic impacts caused by climate change over a longer period of time in agricultural sector in Montenegro. In our analysis, we assessed the impact of climate change on grain yields and revenues from their production. In order to include a broader framework of analysis and future assessments, we have conducted an analysis for 4 scenarios. Estimated level of damage of climate change on grain yields ranges from 1.3 to 2.6 million EUR in the scenario until 2050, and 8.3 to 12.3 million EUR until 2100. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Mental health has become an important aspect of the daily lives of people these days. As days are becoming hectic, work pressure on them increases, and as a result, people suffer from various mental health conditions. Depression is one such mental health condition, which is affecting the youths at large. Our aim is to provide a machine learning approach so as to detect the signs of mental health conditions so that the victims can be treated as soon as possible. The main machine learning model uses 9 algorithms, k nearest neighbor, Logistic regression, Decision tree, Stacking, Random forest, Bagging, Boosting, Xgboost, SVM, and compared for their accuracy. The feature selection method is used to identify the eight most important and correlate attributes from the 27 attributes identified from the text. Classifiers were made to act on the eight attributes and ROC curves were generated in order to predict their accuracy. This would go a long way in diagnosing and treating patients for much healthier well-being. Every life is meaningful. Sentiment classification has emerged as a key area of study in the current era, where sentiments and emotions play a significant role in all aspects of our daily lives, varying from personal to professional. This includes understanding people's opinions on various products as well as their feelings regarding a particular subject. Pertinent literature has shown that different methods and models have been used for sentiment classification on suicide notes. However, the state-of-the-art in this area was limited to using datasets with lower accuracies. Therefore, in this study, we developed a dataset using Quora, Reddit, several blogs, and various Infomedia sites for sentiment classification tasks on suicide notes. Moreover, we propose a Bi-LSTM model for the suicidal classification of a sentence into six categories such as ‘Love’, ‘Proud’, ‘Happy’, ‘Neutral’, ‘Sad’, and ‘Hate’. Our results show that the proposed model achieved a precision of 73%, a recall of 72%, and an F1-score of 72%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

The features of the construction of automated educational systems with technologies of virtual and augmented reality are outlined in terms of the specifics of the implementation of the current control of the level of knowledge of students using the test control system. For automated correction of the information model of the learning environment in order to form the required learning trajectory, taking into account the specifics of learning and the individual abilities of the student, it is proposed to use automated learning diagrams. The accumulated practical experience convincingly indicates that the implementation of the above approaches allows to reduce the time and improve the quality of trainees’ professional training through adaptive personalized management of trainees’ training by optimizing the typical training structure for each trainee, taking into account the individual characteristics of mastering the educational material. The article presents the key trends in talent management, analyzes possible innovations in the field of HR, suggesting changes in the ways of attracting and retaining talent in the coming years. The description of the tools for obtaining the data array is given;the array itself and the ways of its use in predicative models are characterized. Variants of constructing predicative models are given. The procedure for preparing and training models, their effectiveness for different aspects of diagnostics of managerial readiness is described. On a practical example, data on the application of models are given and their forecast is analyzed.
