In the transition toward exclusive operation of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), many outstanding issues remain regarding methodologies for assessing the performance of CAVs mixed with conventional vehicles (CVs), especially at intersections where their interaction significantly increases. This research proposes a microsimulation-based approach to assess the operational performance of a mixed fleet of CAVs and CVs at signalized intersections. Aimsun Next was used to model CAV driving behavior across increasing market penetration rates (MPR) of CAVs. The model parameters were redefined by comparing simulated capacity data with benchmark capacity functions, which were built based on CAV adjustment factors provided by the Highway Capacity Manual. Simulation results indicate that the throughput of CAV operations depends on their MPR. The microsimulation-based approach provides a methodology for analyzing the assumptions behind the assessment of CAVs' ability to efficiently operate at signalized intersections.

Information Extraction (IE) from text is a challenging data mining task. Recently, numerous research studies have been proposed in this domain, but most of them used Pre-Processed Embeddings (PPE) inefficiently. PPE converts Pre-Trained Embedding (PTE) into a different format to achieve a more accurate outcome. Most of the existing PPE methods concatenate the embeddings, leading to high computational costs and low accuracy of the extracted information. This paper introduces a novel deep learning model and PPE methods for IE from any text. The proposed PPE uses information from different pre-trained models via establishing sensible relationships between this information without enhancing the computational cost. Proposed PPE methods exploit Bert and Deberta embeddings. To select the most relevant characters and words from a sentence, the bi-directional encoder-decoder Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) model was used, followed by Multi-head Attention (MHAT) to learn the relationship between words. Therefore, results have significantly improved target information estimation accuracy on the benchmark dataset across domains.

Thanks to the rapid development of information technologies, the number of CCTV cameras has increased, which has decreased crime and violence rates. Regardless of its benefits, there are some drawbacks, such as the lack of privacy in preserving the identity of people when video data is shared. Information collected and shared by analyzing real-time video data gathered from CCTV systems is vulnerable to privacy violations, necessitating secure countermeasures. This paper attempts to compare, contrast, and propose efficient methods for detecting and encrypting faces in image frames that are obtained from video. With the advancements in technology, security measures must also be improved to curb any violations of confidentiality. At times, the encryption data contains information that some parties, such as criminal investigators or administration, are interested in;it can be advantageous to recover these concealed facts. Hence, we also seek to gather relevant decryption techniques that would enable us to achieve the same without much loss of information.

This work proposes a systematic framework that employs eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to conduct an in-depth comparative analysis of model explanations applied to breast cancer prediction. As the need for transparency and interpretability within Artificial Intelligence grows, our study delves into critical inquiries about the assessment of explanation quality, a comparative study of both direct and post-hoc explanation methods, and the trade-off between interpretability and explainability. The evaluation assists in carrying out well-rounded analyses of the explanations provided by the models. Our research not only enhances the understanding of explanation quality assessment but also underlines the required balance between interpretability and model efficiency, thereby revealing the correlation between model complexity and interpretability. Consequently, this framework serves as an efficient device for evaluating and selecting algorithms for breast cancer prediction, thereby encouraging more comprehensive utilization of Artificial Intelligence in clinical oncology.

Modern communication networks rely on optical fiber networks to transmit various sensitive information among different organizations. With the evolution of fifth-generation telecom technologies, such as intelligent hyper-connected networks, the concentration of all transmission information on optical communication networks has become prevalent. Consequently, ensuring the security of optical transmission devices has become paramount. Establishing secure communication between optical access network nodes presents a significant challenge due to reported instances of hacking into optical cables, rendering the optical communication medium vulnerable to eavesdropping. Therefore, there is a pressing need for complementary security measures. This paper proposes a lightweight yet effective secure key distribution strategy to enhance the network security of optical communication. The proposed Key Exchange (KE) protocols, focusing on symmetric key sharing (SKS) and Secure Key Update (SKU), are subjected to Scyther-based security simulations to demonstrate their security. Additionally, an informal security analysis is provided to showcase the resilience of the SKS and SKU algorithms against various security attacks. Computational benchmarks show that both algorithms require fewer computational, communication, and storage resources during the key generation phase compared to related authentication protocols.

Currently, LiDAR, photogrammetry, photometric stereo, and 3D Gaussian Splatting technologies are used as 3D recording methods for cultural heritage. Measurement methods and equipment can be determined according to the purpose of 3D recording, which can range from simple to precise 3d scanning of cultural heritage. For precise measurement, precise 3D scanners and photogrammetry are used, either alone or in combination with photometric stereo technology, if detailed measurements are required. Precise data for large areas can be acquired by using drone photogrammetry and drone LiDAR. Low-poly models can be easily produced using a LiDAR or photogrammetry application running on a smartphone. The 3D Gaussian Splatting technique can be used for background or rough 3D recording for realistic content, such as games and movies. In this study, we investigated recent cultural heritage 3D recording technologies and compared these methods according to the type, purpose of use, and precision.

Clustering aims to group similar data objects together while keeping dissimilar objects apart. Various bioinspired algorithms have been developed to address different challenges in clustering tasks. One promising approach is the use of self-organizing neural networks, which can adapt and learn the underlying patterns in the data. Transfer Learning (TL) has also gained attention for its ability to leverage knowledge from one domain to improve learning in another. In this context, a Transfer Learning Unsupervised Network (TRUNC) is proposed, integrating a self-organizing network with TL to enhance clustering performance. This paper introduces TRUNC, presents a sensitivity analysis of the algorithm to the transfer learning term, and an evaluation of its effectiveness when applied to synthetic data.

Tunisian (ISO 693-3: aeb) is a set of linguistic varieties spoken in Tunisia and evolved from the Arabic language. In this research work, we attempt to establish a standardized pronunciation that can serve as a communication tool for the diverse Tunisian population. This paper draws on prior linguistic research and uses a rich dataset maintained by the Linguistic Data Consortium to identify common phonological features across various Tunisian dialects. This research creates a harmonized Tunisian pronunciation that transcends regional differences, with a focus on consonants, vowels, and assimilation among other patterns. This effort is driven by the need for accurate communication, education, and media in a linguistically diverse nation.

This paper presents an experimental pipeline and an annotation scheme for enriching text with semantic information by leveraging implicit information extracted from Abstract Meaning Representation (AMR). AMR, as an unanchored semantic representation language, encodes a wide range of information that can be useful for downstream NLP tasks. This implicit knowledge encompasses frames, semantic roles, numeric value labels, concept grounding to Wikipedia entries, and fine-grained relationship types. The extracted information can improve the performance of existing logic-based end-to-end question-answering pipelines that rely on deterministic rule-driven semantic parsers for text-to-logic conversion based on Universal Dependencies (UD).

This article describes a customized myoelectric prosthesis for a transradial amputation level with an interactive theme to measure psychological well-being in an 8-year-old child aged 8 and 4months. The clinical assessment is fundamental to determine the type of prosthesis that best suits the patient's needs. At the same time, factors such as age, profession, and daily activities, among others, significantly influence the design of the customized prosthesis. The methodology used in this study includes scanning the patient's dummy, designing or modeling the prosthesis using 360 degrees fusion software, 3D printing of the prosthesis model, post-processing, assembly, and application. The results obtained show that the customized prosthesis designed with a theme and successfully fabricated allowed the child patient to recover the mobility and functionality of his upper limb. The prosthesis was controlled by myoelectric signals detected with the MyoWare sensor, which allowed the user to emit signals to execute the opening and closing action of the hand. This study highlights the potential of electronic engineering and 3D printing to improve the quality of life of a child with a missing upper limb.
