Sound Event Detection (SED) is an audio signal processing field aiming at the automatic identification of sound events within an audio stream. SED systems are gaining increasing relevance on a variety of applications including context-aware chatbots, environmental surveillance, urban noise management, healthcare monitoring, etc. The fast development of Deep Learning (DL) together with the availability of large datasets, such Audioset, has led to the emergence of a new generation of SED models that can identify a broad range of sound classes (generally 527 Audioset classes);we will refer them as LargeSED(LSED). Besides this technological advance, adapting LSED to specific applications is still challenging mainly because it requires an important effort for accurate labelling of specific sound events in a representative set of audios. To address this challenge, this paper explores three learning strategies to LSED adaptation: 1) zero-shot learning, just using supervised semantic mapping between the LSED classes to application-specific classes, 2) transfer learning, training a DL model to map from all LSED classes to application-specific classes, and 3) active learning, DL mapping only over problematic subset of sounds. DL mapping was explored using seq2seq models (BLSTM and Self-Attention Transformer Encoder). Several experimental setups are presented to show how different LSED adaptation strategies can provide different balances between sound detection accuracy and audio labelling cost.

This paper provides an overview of the application of big data in psychology, exploring its relevance, potential applications, and associated challenges. It begins with a presentation of the concept of big data, including its architectures and technologies, emphasizing their importance in psychological research. After that, the paper delves into a set of existing data in the literature, taking into account high-level criteria such as volume, variety, and velocity. These criteria are expanded to include additional standards like ethical considerations, acquisition velocity, and value. Following that, the paper explores various studies about the analysis and processing of massive datasets in psychology, with an emphasis on study objectives and techniques employed, such as data warehouses and parallel processing. Finally, the paper concludes with a discussion on the criticisms of the use of big data in psychology and the significance of integrating other techniques such as artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP). Overall, the present study highlights the potential of big data in advancing psychological research, while acknowledging the need to address associated challenges and adopt complementary methodologies.

This research explores the transformative potential of the Ethereum blockchain in revolutionizing the automotive supply chain through practical implementation. Unlike many theoretical studies, our research addresses the pervasive challenges encountered by traditional methodologies, such as opacity, operational inefficiencies, and the proliferation of counterfeit parts, by introducing "AutoBloc," a decentralized application (DApp). Engineered to streamline role assignment and management across various entities including Manufacturers, Dealers, Logistics, and Customers, AutoBloc leverages Ethereum's advanced capabilities in traceability and security enhancements to mitigate these challenges effectively. Notably, our approach emphasizes practical implementation, integrating Ethereum smart contracts with cutting-edge tools like Truffle, Ganache UI, and Remix IDE for Solidity testing. Through these concerted efforts, this research endeavors to redefine the automotive supply chain landscape, ushering in an era characterized by enhanced trust and reliability.

This research analyzes the importance of having an advertising strategy as a basis for possible projects. The company Sicurezza was chosen as an example for being an innovative lingerie brand with a great reach in the Lima market. It was decided to carry out the research of the advertising pieces of the Peruvian company since they have a constant line of content and with great reach to their target audience. In addition, most of their advertising campaigns have generated a lot of buzz because they had a connection to the Body Positive movement, which helped women identify because they showed all types of bodies in their advertising content. For the methodology, the quantitative approach was used, with correlational scope, of the deductive method. The type of sample used is probabilistic based on the customers of the company Sicurezza who follow the brand on its social network Instagram, or who purchase its products in the physical stores of Salaverry and San Miguel. The technique used was the survey and, consequently, the questionnaire instrument. The results were entered into the SPSS software in order to establish a relationship with the objectives determined for this research.

Human activity recognition (HAR) leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to classify activities using raw data obtained from wearable inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors. Applications can be found in healthcare, surveillance, and remote elderly care. However, the inherent complexity of HAR systems, requiring advanced algorithms and substantial computational resources, challenges its scalability and real-time processing, especially in resource-constrained settings. This paper proposes an approach to alleviate these limitations by employing AI on the edge for HAR, where machine learning models are deployed onto a microcontroller, shifting the computational workload closer to the data source. Throughout this study, the performances of different input variations are compared and analyzed. In the result section, it shows clearly that the model trained on statistical features outperformed the one trained on the raw IMU sensor data. In addition, experiments are performed to demonstrate the viability and effectiveness of the on-edge implementation of both inputs. Finally, conclusions and directions for future improvements are discussed.

In the context of Industry 5.0 and Society 5.0, this study presents a novel Active Learning STEAM/Data Science educational approach that integrates sports and exercise instruction based on Eduinformatics. It addresses the shift in educational paradigms toward a competency-focused system, highlighting the transition from traditional teaching methods to active learning and facilitation in contemporary education, especially in engineering. The paper introduces Eduinformatics, a new interdisciplinary field that merges informatics with education, as a crucial tool for tackling emerging educational challenges. Focusing on the "Manaburu" course at Kobe Tokiwa University, the study explores how methods derived from sports science, such as kinesthesis, significantly enhance intrinsic student motivation. Key strategies include creating positive learning environments, understanding student perspectives, and promoting peer teaching. The study emphasizes the pivotal role of facilitators in active learning, focusing on the process rather than the outcome. Statistical analysis from Eduinformatics substantiates the effectiveness of these methods in improving motivation and learning outcomes in first-year education, showcasing the applicability of sports and exercise instruction in Active Learning-based STEAM/Data Science education.

The aim of this paper is to present the possibility of applying the preference of electric vehicles at light-controlled intersections in terms of positive and negative aspects. To increase the usage of electric cars in cities, various supportive efforts are arising. The authors aimed to answer the question when and under what conditions it is worthwhile to install the preference of electric vehicles at light-controlled intersections. The proposal was tested on a case study of a real intersection through microsimulation. The results confirm the positive effect of electric vehicle preference, especially in terms of reducing the relative delay of preferred vehicles compared to the delay of all vehicles on the network. With increasing penetration of electric vehicles, the results also show a slight increase in the overall delay of all vehicles. However, the negative effect of increasing penetration is significantly lower than the effect of increasing overall vehicle flow.

While driver assistance systems in automated vehicles are becoming more sophisticated to reduce accidents and the burden on drivers, there are concerns regarding drivers-system incompatibilities. Given the complexity of the risk structure when driving a car and the changes in people and society, there is a need to study strategies to further reduce the risk of accidents. In resilience engineering, the support for overcoming human awareness limitations has been studied as a risk-reduction method. Considering these circumstances, this study investigated the age-specific characteristics of drivers' learning styles and examined traffic safety education methods that are more acceptable to elderly drivers.

Visiting museums requires new technology support to improve the users' experience. In this field, multimedia tours can reach excellent results by adopting Digital Storytelling techniques and personalization tools, such as Recommender systems. In particular, this work describes an architecture based on a Recommender System able to identify suitable cultural assets and a nonlinear Digital Storytelling technique for deeply involving users in the cultural experience. For the personalization improvement, the architecture needs to acquire information related to the context in which the visit evolves, exploiting the Internet of Things paradigm. Moreover, the personalization tools' adoption allows the creation of a unique experience for the user requiring the proposed architecture to provide a non-fungible token (NFT) related to the user experience through integrating the blockchain technology. In the experimental phase, the recommendation approach proposed for the personalization objective is tested on a literature database, obtaining promising results.

"Smart cities", now referred to as connected places, are changing how people interact with the built environments. While the redesign of streets to include digital elements may make a city infrastructure more efficient, it may also create new opportunities that puts the urban street environment into the spotlight of cybercrime. In the public spaces owned by Local Authorities (LAs), many of the delivery, operations, management, and maintenance of the smart infrastructure services is outsourced to private operators. The purpose of this research is to explore how LAs in the UK mitigate as well as govern the cyber and resilience risks of the connected place ecosystem. To explore the real-time challenges faced by the LAs, the security specifications in the procurement contracts for smart EV charging services were assessed against the guidance for managing security and resilience risks specified in the connected place principles rolled out by National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). The initial observations indicate that the UK Government understands the urgent requirements to protect the smart infrastructure services, however, there needs to be improvements in operational governance, accountability, and assurance within the commissioning process to manage systemic risks of the connected ecosystem.
