Accurately predicting passenger flow is increasingly crucial, garnering significant attention in academia due to its benefits in managing crowds and potentially enhancing efficiency. This paper offers a comprehensive survey of contemporary developments in the field of passenger flow optimization. It focuses on three different approaches, namely ARIMA, traditional machine learning and deep learning. The study systematically compares and analyzes multiple research papers within the subtopics. By understanding the insights, identifying the trends and providing critical synthesis, this survey provides an overview of the state-of-art techniques in passenger flow optimization. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of a broad field and offer valuable guidance for the researchers.

Energy consumption has become the main concern of any company or organisation. However, there are services where energy consumption takes a back seat to meet the requirements. This is the case of drinking water services. In order to ensure the supply to the population, until now, the strategy followed consisted of maximising storage, at any cost. This way of operating infrastructures generates energy inefficiency, as well as undermining sustainability and risking greater water losses in the event of breakdowns. Nowadays, thanks to the historical information available, it is possible to generate algorithms capable of minimising consumption while optimising water storage and ensuring water supply. In this work we propose a system through which, using prediction algorithms and a heuristic search for the optimal solution, the optimal behaviour of a drinking water production system is calculated. The system is divided into two blocks, the prediction and the control generator, so that they are able to evaluate the current state of the system and obtain a behaviour adequate to the needs with the minimum consumption. This proposal has been instantiated on a real drinking water infrastructure of a city of 5000 inhabitants in the southeast of Spain, demonstrating the viability of the proposal and the improvement compared to traditional behaviour.

The advancement of technology in the automotive industry has led to the emergence of smart cities where vehicles are interconnected through communication networks. This inter-vehicle communication (IVC) is crucial for enabling various intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications, such as traffic management, collision avoidance, and autonomous driving. The wireless communication for IVC exposes the system to security threats, including intrusion attacks. This paper presents intrusion detection techniques for IVC in smart cities, where KNN provides amore significant outcome than linear regression, logistic regression, and linear support vector machine classifiers. It finds the securing IVC and the different types of intrusion attacks. This approach additionally provides an overview of the existing intrusion detection systems (IDS) and their mechanisms for detecting and mitigating attacks in inter-vehicular communication. The paper illustrates an intrusion detection approach that leverages machine learning algorithms to analyze the network traffic and detect anomalies indicative of intrusion attempts. The proposed approach outperforms intrusion detection, where the achieved accuracy is 98.3%.

Nowadays, the advancement of modern communication systems, along with Internet usability, enhances the application of multimedia data in various fields. In this context, security in multimedia data is highly demanding to prevent unauthorized access, as well as to ensure confidentiality. This paper introduces a new reversible blind imagewatermarking scheme to validate the image authentication and confidentiality for secret information. To address this aim, a spread-spectrum-based message hiding technique is developed. The reduced Lorenz map combined with the sine-cos map is employed here to produce a key-dependent pseudo-random number (PRN), which is directly mapped into the cover image according to the bit pattern of the secret message. On the other hand, the message hiding has been performed in the cover image by decomposing it using a two-level integer wavelet transform (IWT). The robustness of the scheme is further improved by employing Hamming (7, 4) code and a geometric distortion correction module. Several cover images are used to examine the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The experimental results present that this approach has better or equivalent robustness against common sig-D nal processing distortions and geometric distortions compared to relevant existing schemes.

A foreseeable risk in the case of a volcano eruption, as is the case of the Cotopaxi volcano, is a significant increase of vehicular traffic on routes destined to attend to this emergency, constituting a challenge for vehicular communications. Several parameters of vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle communication are analyzed in this work using simulation tools such as georeferenced maps, microscopic traffic, radio propagation, and network simulators for a scenario with considerable vehicular density. Factors such as high vehicular density, placement of road-side units, and special types of intersections as roundabouts have significant effects on vehicular communication. The radio propagation simulation shows accurate results of path gain and Doppler spread. In addition, network simulation under IEEE 802.11p protocol shows a better performance of UDP than TCP in terms of delay time and jitter whereas TCP outperforms UDP in terms of throughput.

Facial recognition is a computer application that can identify, track, or verify human faces based on images or videos taken with a digital camera. Although significant advances have been made in facial recognition and security, identity authentication, and presence detection, there are still challenges that prevent human-level accuracy from being surpassed. These problems are variations on the appearance of the human face, such as various lighting conditions, face image noise, scale, pose, and others. This research paper presents a new approach by using CNN and Haar Cascade classifiers to solve some of these issues and improve the accuracy and detection rate of faces. While most tutorials on the topic aim to improve the accuracy of facial detection, this presented methodology allows facial recognition to detect and recognize frontal, profile photos as well as partially occluded faces. This unique feature of the proposed model opens up various applications in real-world scenarios where faces may be partially obscured, such as in crowded classrooms, busy office environments, or even in public spaces where people may attempt to break traffic signals. Experimental results show that the proposed method is comparable with the latest models and can be implemented in a real-world environment as an automated system.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized agriculture by optimizing resource usage and enabling real-time field monitoring, but its widespread adoption brings security challenges. The protection of sensitive agricultural data requires robust authentication mechanisms, especially in the face of emerging quantum technologies that may render traditional security methods inadequate. A solution tailored for smart agriculture systems emerges as a lattice-based authentication scheme (LBSAS). With the leverage of complex mathematical problems like SIS or ISIS, LBSAS offers resilience against quantum attacks, ensuring the security of IoT-driven agricultural systems. The rigorous security analysis validates LB-SAS's effectiveness in safeguarding against quantum threats. In summary, as IoT continues to transform agriculture, implementing resilient security measures such as LB-SAS becomes paramount to mitigate risks and maintain the integrity of agricultural operations amid the increasing connectivity of the digital landscape.

Recently, speaker recognition has emerged as a pivotal biometric tool for finding security, forensics, and banking applications. Despite its widespread adoption, real-world challenges, such as variations in environmental conditions like reverberation time and background noise, pose significant obstacles to speaker recognition. Among the well-established methods for speaker recognition, MFCC and GFCC are notable for their maturity and widespread use. The study delves into the impact of reverberation conditions, characterized by parameters like reverberation time and direct-to-reverberation ratio, on the performance of speaker verification systems. The investigation includes an analysis of the relationship between these parameters and verification results, measured through the equal error rate percentage. Regression models are introduced to elucidate the correlation between the equal error rate, reverberation time, and the distance from the microphone source. The results emphasize the optimal microphone accuracy when positioned within 0.5 m of the sound source. Furthermore, the study highlights the superior performance of GFCC compared to MFCC in the conducted evaluations.

We have come to know how we can use BL-algebra to construct a Block Code and how we may use it for encoding purposes. In this paper, we explore a method to decode the BL-code with the help of the predefined order between the BL-algebra L and the generated code C. While encoding, we take an arbitrary nonempty subset P on which the BL-function is defined.
