In this paper, we propose a new approach for detecting and removing impulse noise. The method uses the new framework of cloud filtering for detecting noise locations. This new framework use efficient mathematical tools to filter with sets of filters rather than with a single one. Once a (very) noisy pixel is detected, its illumination is estimated by an extension of the median filtering applied on the neighborhood defined by the cloud. Experiments on various images demonstrate the capacity of the algorithm to identify noisy pixels (especially at low noise rate) while well preserving image edges.

This paper presents a fundamental study on the application of Large Language Models (LLM), such as ChatGPT, for enhancing Institutional Research (IR) practices among new practitioners. Emphasizing the transition to low or no-code methodologies, this study explored the potential of semi-automated analysis and visualization methods to streamline the data handling processes in higher education. With the advancement of LLMs, traditional programming barriers are being dismantled, allowing for more efficient and accessible data analysis. This study particularly investigated the feasibility of utilizing ChatGPT in reducing the programming workload for IR practitioners, which could lead to a substantial transformation in the field. Through empirical experiments and the development of new visualization techniques, the research determined the benefits and practicalities of integrating LLMs into IR, promoting a future where sophisticated data analysis becomes more inclusive and user-friendly for all IR professionals. The findings suggest that embracing such technological tools not only broadens the capabilities of IR practitioners but also strengthens the strategic impact of their role within educational institutions.

The article addresses the ubiquitous challenge of uncertainty in decision-making, with a particular focus on medical decision-making, through the innovative application of logistic regression enhanced by interval-valued fuzzy set theory. Traditional logistic regression relies on a linear combination of variables and a uniform set of regression coefficients, which can inaccurately represent the variability and uncertainty inherent in real-world data. Our proposed methodology differs in that it incorporates weights with interval values into the logistic regression model, allowing for a more nuanced and flexible representation of the data. This approach allows the model to adjust the weights independently in terms of values, offering a fit to interval data and improving the precision of predictions. By developing a specialized algorithm to calculate weighted coefficients adjusted to specific inputs or attributes, we demonstrate the practical effectiveness of our method in dealing with uncertainty. Experimental results highlight the potential of interval-valued fuzzy sets in improving machine learning techniques and enhancing the accuracy of decision-making models in complex, uncertain environments.

Clandestine excavations, widespread throughout the Italian territory, represent a significant threat to cultural heritage. As the cradle of Magna Graecia, Southern Italy is an undisputed witness to this destructive phenomenon. These illicit activities strip artifacts of their original context, compromise history, and hinder research. The profit-driven counterfeit industry thrives due to the ample supply of raw materials essential for the counterfeiting processes within the region. In addressing these challenges, this study adopts a multidisciplinary approach, merging forensic investigations with archaeometric analyses, to authenticate ceramic artifacts recovered from clandestine excavations by the Carabinieri Unit for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Anti-Counterfeiting in Cosenza, Calabria, Italy. Despite some documented stylistic- iconographic incoherent features compared to the same typology finds certainly authentic, the archaeometric results achieved so far demonstrate the compatibility of the majority of the examined samples. Additional studies with further analytical investigations using microscopic, geochemical, and physical methods on micro-samples will be essential to confirm the preliminary data.

In classical pseudorandom generators (PRNGs), an initial seed is a fundamental requirement to generate a series of randomnumbers. These generated numbers are intricately tied to the specific seed value used. In digital computation, seed sources are often derived through deterministic processes, which means there is a possibility of using the same seed value deterministically, leading to potential predictability. Conversely, quantum mechanics introduces an inherent randomness that stems from quantumproperties such as superposition states, wave-particle duality, and the probabilistic outcomes associated with measurements of quantum superposition states. Leveraging these quantum properties as seed sources represents a promising and convenient avenue, particularly in the context of the post-quantum era. This report is divided into two distinguishable branches. The first segment delves into the impact of seed dependency by employing two well-known PRNG methods. In the subsequent section, we explore how a quantum alternative can serve as a practical and viable solution to address the challenges associated with seed dependency and predictability in the realm of random number generation. This quantum approach uses the inherent randomness in quantum mechanics to enhance the quality and security of random number generation processes.

As part of time-critical systems, designers of applications running upon multicore platforms face a complicated timing analysis because of inter-core interference. A real-time shared memory conflictfree schedule stands for an efficient alternative preventing interferences among I/O transactions from distributed applications. This paper introduces a task scheduling model to exploit multicore for real-time applications which is an extension of the 3-phase task model. A/R (Acquisition/Restitution) phases of tasks are non preemptive and strictly periodic whereas the execution phase is preemptive and simply periodic. Adversarial attacks represent a significant threat to the robustness of deep learning models by exploiting their vulnerabilities. Recent advancements have given rise to high quality attack techniques, some of which are strategically employed to enhance model robustness via adversarial training and defense strategies. This paper introduces a novel heuristic search algorithm designed for the generation of adversarial samples through iterative synonym ranking. Our approach distinguishes itself through a superior success rate, lower accuracy under attack, surpassing many existing state-of-the-art methods, while maintaining a acceptable query count. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate the efficacy of our approach in enhancing deep learning models against adversarial attacks through adversarial training.

Social commerce is proliferating worldwide, but it has only attracted scant academic attention on what psychological factors influence consumer decision-making. Guided by the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) framework, we examined the influences from ease of use and online customer experience (OCE) on consumers' continuance intention and herd behaviour in China's two prominent social commerce formats: live streaming commerce and group buying. An online structured questionnaire was distributed among the social commerce consumers, and 694 valid respondents were collected. To evaluate the proposed conceptual model, we employed the statistical analysis approach of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), specifically, SPSS 28.0 and SmartPLS 4.0. This empirical study yields some significant results. First, OCE contributes significantly to continuance intention, followed by herd behaviour. Second, ease of use directly influences continuance intention and OCE but not herd behaviour. OCE plays a mediation role in transferring the effect of ease of use to herd behaviour. Third, we found OCE, one of the uncontrollable factors in social commerce, is critical within the consumer decision-making process. In contrast, ease of use plays a less significant contribution role as a controllable factor. The results of this study provide managerial implications to the social commerce adopters, who are targeting consumers with Chinese backgrounds around the world. The limitations and suggestions for future research are also discussed.
