Today, demand is shifting to more customized products, which will lead to small batches, short lead times, and unique specifications. To remain competitive in this changing environment, manufacturers must improve their layout, productivity, responsiveness, flexibility, and quality. Each layout problem has its own unique characteristics. Among the tools currently available to researchers and companies to optimize production cycles, it is worth highlighting software for the processes' visualization and modeling. Simulation tools are used to connect all processes of the flexiblemanufacturing system into one intelligent system and analyze the production. Layouts are analyzed through computer simulations to verify the true potential of the facility and to find the most efficient long-term operating plan and the optimal structure to meet the increasing demands for customization, quick response, and overall quality, while reducing lead times. The production systems are complex systems that consists of many parts. Modeling a virtual copy of a physical system is quite a complex task and requires the availability of a large amount of information and a set of accurate models that adequately reflect the modeled reality. After a brief presentation of discrete event simulation, a methodology for analyzing and optimizing the production process and its application case is presented in this work within the Master Italy company process.

The present work details the design and construction of an animatronic head capable of performing facial expressions representing the six basic emotions (happiness, anger, sadness, disgust, surprise, and fear), to facilitate the therapy of teaching facial expressions to children with Autism. A set of actuators and mechanisms installed inside the robot gesticulates facial expressions, to show the children the gestures of each emotion. A GUI controls the robot's movements and presents several activities focused on describing the key points for recognizing basic emotions. A computer vision system performs face tracking and user recognition, after its construction, the animatronic head was evaluated, it can express basic emotions and after a first usage survey, it shows a positive acceptance by users and therapists.

Advances in network science may be highly applicable in wide range of research areas for better understanding human behavior and predicting its outcomes. The article presents results of behavioral economics experiment aimed at investigating decision making strategies and their transformation in iterative Prisoner's Dilemma (IPD). During the experiment, participants were involved in artificial social interaction and experimentally induced socialization. Data on participants' behavior and its evolution in IPD were classified according to winstay, lose-shift, and other strategies. The process of strategy evolution and shifting was traced from the point of reference sample interaction, sequences of actions, and then generalized at the level of neural network. We found that information on a behavioral strategy and a number of cooperative and non-cooperative trials increased the efficiency of the model for predicting individual behavior. Results based on a neural network employed as a classifier for recognizing implicitly expressed strategies in various social conditions were also discussed.

The process of designing wind turbines requires multi-threaded procedures when developing individual elements, taking into account their mutual influence. The WNT/PIAP research team, whose members include the authors of this article, proposes a solution that improves the efficiency of obtaining electricity by wind turbines, which requires the use of unconventional solutions in the field of energy transmission. The solution described in this article is a system for wireless transmission of electricity from the generator stator windings to the inverter. The article presents the effect of the team's work on solving the said design problem. As a result of the work, a concept of wireless transmission of electricity was proposed, aimed at its use in low-power two-rotor wind turbines.

Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are increasingly used in intralogistic applications. To efficiently set up a multi-AMR system, numerous parameters such as plant layout, task distribution, dispatching, and pathfinding algorithms must be considered. Based on these characteristics, an appropriate number of AMRs must be selected and movement constraints, i.e., preferred directions of motion, must be established. In this paper, we propose an ant-colony inspired approach for generating movement constraints in the form of a weighted grid graph that minimize conflicts between AMRs. By analysing the system throughput in simulation, we also propose the optimal number of AMRs for a specific intralogistic problem. The proposed approach provides a more efficient and conflict-free movement strategy that ultimately improves the performance of multi-AMR systems.

A major concern in smart power grids is when malicious or manipulated data is injected into measurement data due to malicious activities. Several approaches have been investigated to counter such false data injection attacks (FDIAs). However, such data-driven detectors present two major limitations. First, they neglect capturing the grid's spatial characteristics. Second, they offer limited attack identification to familiar types of FDIAs since they are present within the model's train sets. To conquer such limitations, we propose the use of an artificial intelligence-based graph autoencoder (GAE) for FDIAs detection. Our proposed detector offers three main advantages compared to existing detectors. First, it employs the operation of graph convolution to apprehend the grid's spatial characteristics. Second, it offers an unsupervised autoencoder-based anomaly detection that requires only benign samples under normal operation for training. Third, it outperforms existing detectors by 16-47% in FDIAs detection rate (DR) when tested against unseen FDIAs on an IEEE 39-bus system.

Microgrids, as decentralized production systems, are attracting increasing interest due to their greater efficiency and reliability, helping to redefine the way we approach the transition to cleaner energy. At the same time, sustainable energy resources such as solar, wind, hydro, etc. are positioning themselves as indispensable pillars in this evolution towards a more sustainable energy future. This study focuses on sizing and energy management for an AC microgrid. The system integrates a photovoltaic (PV) source, energy storage sources (ESS) and the distribution grid as a backup source. The main objective is to propose an approach to energy management using fuzzy logic to ensure stable energy distribution between renewable sources and loads, guaranteeing an efficient, sustainable and reliable power supply. A dimensional analysis was carried out using Homer Pro software for the region of Oujda, Morocco, followed by a temporal simulation in the Matlab/Simulink environment. This simulation confirmed the ability of themicrogrid to operate safely, while guaranteeing the efficiency of the energy management system employed. Parameters such as photovoltaic energy availability, load demand, and battery state of charge are taken into account to optimize the power supply. This research makes a significant contribution by demonstrating the viability of an AC microgrid and developing an energy management system that will be implemented in a future scaled-down laboratory prototype.

Analysis of cardiac hemodynamics from Doppler echocardiography videos allows (i) precise diagnosis of circulatory disorders, (ii) assessment of cardiovascular function and (iii) orientation of medical intervention. The analysis of cardiac hemodynamics is based on determining the movement of blood between successive images. The used techniques fall into two categories: those estimating displacement vectors for each region of interest and those that operate at pixel level. The two main difficulties lie, on the one hand, in the limited availability of cardiac ultrasound data due to confidentiality restrictions and, on the other, in the complexity of the data annotation task, which requires specialist expertise and is time-consuming. Our proposed approach addresses this limitation by proposing a new algorithm for estimating blood displacement vectors based on supervised deep learning. Our contribution consists in including an automatic annotation step for the video database in order to use the labelled images as ground truth. This approach includes three main stages: (1) data preparation and selection of regions of interest (ROIs), (2) automatic annotation using the optical flow method and (3) motion estimation using deep learning (DL) models. This new algorithm has been validated on a Doppler echocardiography video base. The performance of the automatic annotation achieves AEE = 1.36 and the DL-based displacement estimation optimize the AEE value up to 0.013. Our novel approach holds considerable potential for accurately estimating and visualizing flow fields in clinical context. With an encouraging and a promising outcome, providing a constructive foundation for further investigation and inspiring the exploration of new perspectives for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Traffic with its negative effect significantly affects sustainability and mobility in urban environments. The streets in the cities and towns could become destinations worthy of a visit, designed as great avenues for walks, children's area, bicycle and scooter lanes, and not only transit routes. Motor vehicles must and should have their place when satisfying the need for mobility in urban environments which is inevitable, but priority in spatial planning should be focused on giving advantage to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, other alternative forms of transport, and public transport. This paper aims to analyse the use of smart solutions for establishing a standardized framework for the implantation of the sustainable mobility concept in urban environments with similar features.

In the Brazilian context, public policies focus on inclusive education for elementary and high school students. Fortunately, these students are already starting to reach universities, but most teachers are not prepared to meet the demands of these students efficiently. This paper presents some strategies to promote knowledge to higher education teachers about accessibility and inclusion in a classroom context. For that, two modules of an online course were prepared, besides an ebook with contents in dialogue with each other. Two data collection instruments were used to understand the profile of the target audience and their perception of the course.
