Uniswap v3 is a decentralized exchange (DEX) that allows liquidity providers to allocate funds more efficiently by specifying an active price interval for their funds. This introduces the problem of finding an optimal strategy for choosing price intervals. We formalize this problem as an online learning problem with non-stochastic rewards. We use regret-minimization methods to show a Liquidity Provision strategy that guarantees a lower bound on the reward. This is true even for nonstochastic changes to asset pricing, and we express this bound in terms of the trading volume and the average price change.

Through a deep inspection of the rhythmic structures used in Indian Classical music, one can easily see how frequently Euclidean rhythms are used. There is a particular kind of Euclidean rhythm that is used very frequently: the rhythms in which the rests have a palindromic structure. In this paper, we characterize this family of rhythms. We look at the structural and geometric properties of such rhythms using tools that are very frequently used in live performances of Indian Classical music. Most of the properties have a certain combinatorial interest as well. The results we prove can be seen to be quite relevant in the context of Indian Classical music. We show how operations can be defined on such rhythms to construct a larger family of rhythms. Towards the end of the paper, we show applications of these rhythms in contemporary Indian Classical music.

Augmented Intelligence is a design pattern for a human-centered collaboration model of people and artificial intelligence (AI), where machines assist humans in tasks such as data analysis, information retrieval, decision-making, and task execution. In this study, the concept of Augmented Intelligence is applied within the context of an instructional system for simulation-based training. Here, the collaboration between human and machine is focused on the role of the instructor, which is to guide the learning process of one or more trainees toward some learning objective. We identify different levels of machine support to assist an instructor in this role during an adaptive training cycle. Additionally, two design aspects are discussed that contribute to increased levels of intelligence, namely the challenge of domain alignment to empower automation capabilities, and the benefits of simulation-based task environments to deliver AI-enabled approaches. Examples are discussed in the context of military training.

Local governments are striving to overcome their challenges by developing strategies. Some of them attempt to include leveraging digitalization and implementing data-centric procedures in strategy processes. However, there is a limited understanding of what these processes entail, such as who is involved and what digital tools are necessary for specific purposes and challenges. This paper aims to enhance and broaden this understanding. It employs a mixed-method approach by collecting both qualitative and quantitative data from Swiss municipalities and follows a convergent parallel design to analyze the data. The analysis reveals that larger municipalities tend to have established strategy practices, albeit in an ad-hoc manner without following any standard methods or best practices. The strategy development is significantly influenced by politicians and municipal administration. It mainly takes place around a limited group of internal individuals. So, it doesn't meet the inclusivity component of Open Strategy. Citizen's needs are considered by involving internal stakeholders;however, they mostly don't directly participate in strategy processes. While municipalities do not perceive an immediate necessity for digital tools in their strategy processes, they acknowledge challenges in coordination, communication, and temporal resource management, for which they view digital tools as beneficial.

This study takes official tourism maps published by Tainan City as the research object. The research method adopts the general interview method, and the interviewees are map publishers (Tainan City Tourism Bureau) and map designers (illustrators). The purpose of this study is to explore the benefits to be achieved by official tourism map publishing, and the planning and considerations of illustrators when designing tourist maps. Research findings (1) The purpose of publishing illustratedmaps is to increase tourists' interest in attractions, boost visitor numbers, increase visibility, and enhance attractiveness. Factors such as the selection of illustrators, whether their styles are suitable for the map's theme, and their popularity are all considerations. The authorities hope to promote local illustrators in tourism marketing, so several maps are drawn by local illustrators from Tainan. As for how much illustrated tourist maps actually increase tourist numbers, the authorities lack statistical data to determine, but they do increase people's willingness to collect them. (2) Official emphasis is primarily on the accuracy of tourist maps' information, especially the relative positions of attractions, with design aesthetics coming second. The attractions on illustrated maps are provided by the authorities, while the illustration style and color scheme are determined by the illustrators.

Digital educational games face challenges in integrating into authentic classroom contexts. Employing a design-based research methodology, this study developed a vector digital game targeting Chinese high school students, and implemented it in school classrooms over three iterative cycles. Empirical data on knowledge acquisition, learning motivation, cognitive load, and interviews was collected. The analysis results indicate that blended classrooms integrating digital games can enhance students' vector learning. The three iterations gradually balanced the game and educational aspects of learning, achieving positive outcomes. Three critical balances for blended classroom integrating game design are proposed: balancing time allocation between online gaming and offline teaching, balancing freedom of teachers' instruction and students' playing, balancing game elements with educational elements in game technology itself.

This study presents development of JOYRIDE, a light-hearted gamified exercise tour, which is built around a mobile robot for Finnish elderly people, who also played with the system in practice. The user testing results, despite the starting challenges during these first testing rounds, can be considered positive: elderly people are willing to welcome technology to improve their functioning and enhance social interaction. It was discovered that the design and size of the robot, the user interface, as well as the layout of the route, are crucial factors when mobile robots are implemented into these kinds of applications and environments.

Social engagement processes are critical to technology development if we want to ensure inclusivity, equity, and responsiveness to diverse populations. Generative AI tools require new models of technology development due to the complexity of their structure, from the creation of large datasets to the adjustment of biases to ensuring fairness of their results. The use of community-based research approaches to involve diverse groups and citizen sensitivities in the research and development process seems a good strategy to guarantee the ethical design and use of these knowledge-generating technologies. A particular case it is presented regarding the potential of AI generative tools to simplify legal, administrative, or educational texts by providing new translation tools. This is a multidisciplinary project that requires consideration of ethical and legal consequences and that can be addressed by a social engagement development model. Requires civil and democratic engagement in two areas: 1) democratically selecting the type of texts and translations needed, and 2) involving citizens, experts, and non-experts to produce and validate real examples of legal texts with cognitive adaptations. These adaptations will feed the AI algorithms used to learn howto translate the texts. The social value of this model extends beyond the design of a text simplification tool. The model aims to establish participation and validation criteria to prevent legal, social, and equity biases in the design of generative AI tools for social purposes, improving the design of validation and explainability processes guided by human experts.

In permissionless blockchains, transaction issuers include a fee to incentivize miners to include their transactions. To accurately estimate this prioritization fee for a transaction, transaction issuers (or blockchain participants, mjohnme@*** generally) rely on two fundamental notions of transparency, namely contention and prioritization transparency. Contention transparency implies that participants are aware of every pending transaction that will contend with a given transaction for inclusion. Prioritization transparency states that the participants are aware of the transaction or prioritization fees paid by every such contending transaction. Neither of these notions of transparency holds well today. Private relay networks, for instance, allow users to send transactions privately to miners. Besides, users can offer fees to miners via either direct transfers to miners' wallets or off-chain payments-neither of which are public. In this work, we characterize the lack of contention and prioritization transparency in Bitcoin and Ethereum resulting from such practices. We show that private relay networks are widely used and private transactions are quite prevalent. We show that the lack of transparency facilitates miners to collude and overcharge users who may use these private relay networks despite them offering little to no guarantees on transaction prioritization. The lack of these transparencies in blockchains has crucial implications for transaction issuers as well as the stability of blockchains. Finally, we make our data sets and scripts publicly available.

Community senior centers often play a significant role in fostering physical activity and social interactions among seniors in the communities they serve. Oftentimes, games are one way that centers engage seniors and provide recreational and social support. In recent years the growing emphasis on digital games for supporting seniors has led to new understanding of how to improve senior's wellness. However, much of the work in this area has examined games for improving physical activity with less emphasis on social interaction and design for community settings. In this paper, we partnered with a local senior center, to better understand the role of the center and the gaming sessions they provide in encouraging physical activity and social interactions among seniors. From initial observations and interviews, we identified implications for designing games for active togetherness, or supporting feeling of togetherness while engaging in short bursts of physical activity. We designed a hybrid game based on these implications and examined the perceived impact of our design had on seniors' social engagement and physical activity. Based on our findings, we contribute implications for game design that supports active togetherness in a senior community environment.
