This study investigates the key factors that affect visual realism in Augmented Reality (AR) user experience. Recognizing the importance of visual realism in enhancing user engagement and integrating virtual elements into the real world, we embarked on a comprehensive exploration of these factors. Our study included an extensive literature review, identifying key parameters beyond conventional elements. A structured questionnaire was designed to systematically capture users' perceptions, involving participants from diverse backgrounds engaging with simulated AR scenarios. Our research carefully adjusted variables such as light(type, intensity, color), shadows(intensity, direction), material properties(texture, roughness), depth occlusion, field of view (FoV), gamma correction value, and high dynamic range(HDR), and categorized participants based on their experience with rendering software to ensure a targeted analysis. Our results showed that various rendering variables all played a role in influencing users' perception of visual realism in AR. Notably, among these variables, light source color and shadows direction had a relatively minor impact compared to others, while material texture and roughness had the most pronounced effects on visual realism perception. Furthermore, our results indicated that users' prior experience with rendering software had no significant influence on their judgments of visual realism. The study contributes to the understanding of factors impacting visual realism in AR, providing valuable insights for refining AR application design and development and optimizing user engagement and satisfaction.

Through case analysis of changes in mental health counseling methods both domestically and internationally, a multidimensional quadrant model for the design turn of psychological counseling centers is abstracted from philosophy, and a fusion path for the design turn between different quadrants is proposed. At the same time, it is proposed that the design of psychological counseling centers is shifting from traditional counseling spaces to technology based experiential place, and the role of psychological counselors is shifting from providing counseling services to evaluating experiential effects. The positioning of psychological counseling centers is shifting from a space for relieving psychological stress to a place where stories can occur, which is the academic contribution of this study. Based on the service theater model, it is proposed that psychological counseling services as experience venues can be designed from three aspects of service contacts: common goals, service scenarios, and interactive processes. Then, through the transformation of the Psychological Counseling Center of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the necessity and feasibility of designing psychological counseling services from consultation spaces to experience venues are verified through the actual design process and effects. This is the practical value of this study.

The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect in May 2018. It requires organizations to give European users access to their data. Although several requirements are contained in the GDPR, such as machine-readable format and easily understandable information, these kinds of regulations leave flexibility on how to achieve them. In order to understand the past and the current practices emerging from the GDPR, we evaluate data exports from 2018 and 2023 of one reference account from the social media platform Twitter. We analyze the service's compliance with the requirements of the GDPR, the changes within the time span, and the differences between accounts. To compare and verify the results, we incorporate the findings of data exports of four verification accounts. The results show that the information presented to the users is easier to understand with the present version. However, the data is not provided in a machine-readable format and additional files, such as more than 3,000 emoticons, are incorporated. In addition, not all practices are according to GDPR. Based on the results, the study suggests future research topics and practical improvements.

The promise of smart contracts (computer programs running on a decentralized virtual computer) lies in the ability to execute agreements without the risk of interference by powerful intermediaries. However, in practice, many smart contracts reintroduce privileged parties on the application layer. They are programmed to enforce that certain functions can only be executed by the owners of defined accounts. We propose and validate a method to detect such privileged parties from binary smart contract code on the Ethereum platform. Our open-source implementation, Ethpector, can be used to verify claims about "zero-trust," reveal ownership structures, forensically analyze networks of virtual shell organizations, and may support auditors when testifying ownership of intangible assets on Ethereum held by conventional legal entities.

Marketing researchers have investigated how value is co-created through direct interactions between service providers and customers. Previous studies have focused on service provider behaviors that facilitate customer value creation. It is essential to focus on both the value co-creation behaviors of service providers and the factors that influence them. However, there is currently an insufficient understanding of the factors that influence the value co-creation behavior of service providers. Previous research has focused on the institutions, norms, and practices shared by the actors involved in value co-creation. Furthermore, there has been limited discussion on specific factors based on empirical research. The impact of service providers' logic, which is assumed to drive their behavior, on value co-creation has not yet been discussed. Owing to the foregoing, this study explores how service providers' logic and behavior contribute to value co-creation. We identified four logics in this regard (i.e., frontline service employees, customers, departments, and firms), four service behaviors (i.e., performing, supporting, collaborating, and coordinating), and specific value outcomes for each actor.

In the new global reality, distance learning has grown exponentially, and students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), i.e., those with dyslexia, dysorthographia, or dyscalculia, struggle to learn. Because they have no direct contact with the teacher, they resort to using suitable tools and instruments, together with personalised learning plans. In addition, students with SLDs who take in-person courses must also follow an adapted didactic strategy. This problem affects millions of people around the world, and Technology Enhanced Learning currently proposes instruments and tools to help learners during their learning process. In this paper we propose a brief review of the literature about the use of Artificial Intelligence from 2018 to 2023 in the educational field specifically for dyslexic students in the post-transformer era. We aim to baseline the contribution of the use of generative and classic AI to help learners, highlighting possible strengths and weaknesses. The results of our inquiry show that in the specified years, the AI community has offered little to this field.

While the fashion industry is currently paying increasing attention to environmental pollution, the attention of "Generation Z" consumers to sustainable fashion has not yet reached a high level. Although they vaguely believe that sustainable fashion should be a choice direction of daily consumption, they haven't actually implemented it in their lives, or clearly understand the environmental impact brought by consumption behavior. Based on the theory of perceived value, this study constructs a sustainable fashion application prototype named "Eco Echo". It aims to popularize the knowledge of sustainable fashion to "Generation Z" consumers while guiding them to make environmentally friendly fashion consumption choices and behaviors, thus narrowing the "green gap" in the field of sustainable fashion. Each functional module in "Eco Echo" has specific perceived value attributes, such as green value, social value, educational value, emotional value, and functional value. Users will increase the corresponding points in each module operation, and the points can then be used to unlock the corresponding honor certificate level. In addition to giving users a sense of pride, these certificates will also provide some material benefits. In the final prototype testing stage, the "Eco Echo" application has also been recognized by many consumers. In particular, the tester showed a great deal of enthusiasm by using the function of clothing environmental protection data generated by a virtual device. The educational value, which is also the main focus of our subsequent development, is embodied by this function. We believe that consumers' perceived value in the field of sustainable fashion will help to promote their behavior changes, and "Eco Echo" will contribute to narrowing the "green gap". Designing a good game is hard. Designing a learning game might be even harder as it requires engaging game elements to be aligned with the respective learning content. However, when this alignment is successful-referred to as intrinsic integration-games become effective tools for learning. In this article, the idea of collectible content is introduced as one way to achieve or make more pervasive use of intrinsic integration to support learning. Similar to an in-game currency system, learning content may be incorporated as in-game collectibles whose collection and manipulation are central aspects of gameplay. To substantiate the beneficial effects of collectible content, it is repeatedly presented, explored, and analyzed through various gameplay tasks. Through its characteristics of duality, consistency, and uniqueness/uniformity, collectible content evolves and adapts offering continuous opportunities for the development of conceptual understanding of the respective content-along with practice of procedures and acquisition of fact knowledge for the tasks at hand. To illustrate the idea and highlight affordances and potential impact of intrinsic integration, we present a prototype design of a fraction learning game to showcase a modular ecosystem focused on collectible content gameplay.

Correlations between quantum theory and music theory-specifically between principles of quantum computing and musical harmony-can lead to new understandings and new methodologies for music theorists and composers. The quantum principle of superposition is shown to be closely related to different interpretations of musical meaning. Superposition is implemented directly in the authors' simulations of quantum computing, as applied in the decision-making processes of computer-generated music composition.

The PRET19 project aims to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the nineteenth-century loan registers of several Parisian university libraries. These historical documents provide invaluable insights into the circulation of books and the intellectual engagement of the academic community during a transformative period. By reconstructing the relationships and trends between borrowers, the project offers a unique perspective on the intellectual landscape of Parisian universities. In this first phase, the registers come from three different university libraries and exhibit a great diversity in layout, handwriting and content, which poses significant challenges for data processing. To address these challenges, we developed a document processing workflow that effectively combines automatic handwritten text recognition (HTR) with manual processing and validation. In addition, we provide a detailed description of the database, which is designed to comprehensively model the information extracted from the registries, ensuring that the data is structured in a way that adequately responds to anticipated research requests. Once completed, the processed data will be from winter 2024 accessible via a dedicated website, providing a comprehensive digital resource for historical research.
