Laser-activated selective electroless plating (LASELP) is a promising complementary manufacturing process employed in hybrid additive manufacturing (HAM) technology for the direct digital manufacturing of full-functional customized 3D electronics. However, most current LASELP technologies could only enable copper deposition on/within the polymer matrix, which largely limited the application scope of 3D customized electronics. Accordingly, an advanced LASELP-based HAM technology combining vat photopolymerization (VPP), laser-activation and electroless silver plating (ELP) is proposed to pattern silver layers on the photopolymer matrix, for expanding its application potential in the field of 3D electronics. Cu2(OH)PO4 is selected as the catalyst in this HAM technology, which has been proven effective for copper-based LASELP in our previous research. After laser activation, silver ELP can directly occur on the activated surface to deposit a dense and highly conductive layer. Finally, a 3D conformal anti-corrosion circuit board is fabricated and fully verifies this improved LASELP-based HAM technology.

Wire direct energy deposition shows excellent prospects for industrial application, as it improves building efficiency with high quality. The hybrid deposition with micro-rolling (HDMR) technique, which builds parts under the micro-rolling, provides the built part with high performance comparable to the forging counterpart. Wire arc-laser hybrid direct energy deposition with in-situ micro-rolling (AL-DED-MR) technique combines two different heats with the subsequent rolling force, resulting in difficulties in controlling bead morphologies due to a complex thermal-mechanical coupling effect. This paper proposed a strategy to build a model between process parameters of AL-DED-MR and specific bead morphology, which provides a new approach to improve printing accuracy and efficiency for AL-DED-MR.

Development of the above-knee prosthesis started with a goal to solve the problem of climbing the stairs in a biologically inspired way for people with transfemoral amputation. During the course of several years, different prototypes were developed and subsequently tested. The last prototype has proven that the best gait movement is achieved with a prosthetic leg that has separate hydraulic actuators in the knee and ankle joint. Being a prototype, most attention was given to the functionality of the prosthesis. That is why this paper focusses on the redesign and optimization of the prosthetic leg prototype. First of all, a handle was constructed for the purpose of attaching the foot with a prosthesis and a hydraulic cylinder. The lower leg was then redesigned, consisting of two parts, interconnected by a pipe adapter and a pyramid adapter. Two supports were also constructed - a hydraulic unit carrier and an oil tank carrier. Static analysis was performed on the parts using the SolidWorks Simulation module, after which a prosthesis model was assembled.

The wormhole morphology is the basis for evaluating the effect of acidizing in carbonate reservoirs. In this paper, the physical properties of the carbonate rock in Dengying Formation of Shehong-Yanting block in Penglai natural gas area are tested. Based on the physical properties of the rock and dual-scale model, the mathematical model of the large-scale multi-component acid corrosion is established. The influence of engineering factors such as acidic fluid viscosity and acidic fluid injection rate on the wormhole expansion is analysed. Based on the principle of the orthogonal experiment, the effect degree of various factors on the wormhole expansion is studied by using the breakthrough pore volume ratio as the evaluation index. It is found that the carbonate rock is mainly composed of ankerite, calcite and a small amount of quartz and clay minerals. The relative content of ankerite, the main mineral component of the rock, is as high as 84.96% to 91.28%. The porosity of the rock is 0.1 +/- 0.02, and the rock average permeability is about 5mD. The acidic fluid with high viscosity, low H+ diffusion and low H+ reaction rate is conducive to the main wormhole expansion. Appropriately increasing the acidic fluid injection rate can help increase the main wormhole length, but too large acidic fluid injection rate leads to the expansion of the secondary wormholes, which increases the acidic fluid filtration volume. The influence degree of each factor on the wormhole expansion is as follows: the acidic fluid injection rate > the H+ diffusion coefficient > acidic fluid viscosity. The results lay a foundation for the reservoir acidification research of Dengying Formation in Penglai natural gas area.

Contact modeling plays a crucial role in tire road interaction, impacting several fields, including vehicle dynamics, road safety, and transportation efficiency. As the tire is in contact with the road, the real contact area is smaller than the nominal area due to the indentation of the rubber over the road profile, influenced by the distribution of road texture. This paper introduces a novel approach to contact modeling, focusing on the evaluation of the ratio between the real contact area and the nominal one (A(c)/A(0)), considering the Greenwood-Williamson formulation. This ratio is fundamental for characterizing the tire-road contact behavior, as it depends on tire viscoelastic properties, road roughness characterization and tire operating conditions. The paper presents some simulations conducted in MATLAB to assess the A(c)/A(0) ratio for various road specimens. These simulations were conducted considering a specific compound, while varying parameters such as contact pressure and compound temperature, with a fixed sliding velocity. This research, thus, enhances the understanding of how the road texture, combined with the tire properties and operating conditions, affects tire indentation over the road profile which is strictly related to the perceived friction values.

Authors are developing a high stiffness vertical planar cable-driven parallel robot capable of automating exterior wall inspections. Geometric parameter errors originating from the installation process can affect inspection results. Due to our robot's complex design, which results in an under-constrained system when faced with geometric parameter errors, traditional calibration methods fall short. To solve this problem, this paper proposed a new self-calibration method that use only internal sensors to minimize these errors. Firstly, we developed a kinematic model considering the structure of the special moving platform and pulleys. An error model based on the tension and length increments applied to the cables was developed. And with this error model, a self-calibration method is established. Finally, the proposed method was validated through simulation, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing geometric parameter errors.

With the development of natural gas resources in the sea, the blowout problem in high-production gas wells is becoming increasingly prominent. When the high-production gas well blows out, a large amount of gas carries the drilling fluid outside the well, and the wellbore becomes empty quickly, and the conventional killing method cannot be used. In most blowout cases, the drilling tool is far from the bottom of the hole, and the falling process of kill fluid in the gas below the bit is complicated. Aiming to address the problem of the falling flux of kill fluid in high-production gas wells, this paper studies the falling flux of kill fluid by combining experimental and numerical simulation data. It breaks the single falling criterion of kill fluid. It uses a combination of dimensionless numbers to fit the data, establishing a model for the falling flux of kill fluid. Taking a deep-water accident well as an example, based on the established falling flux model of kill fluid in this paper, the influence of different parameters on the well killing law is analyzed. The results show that the kill fluid's displacement, density, viscosity, the injection point's depth, and the drill string's cross-sectional area are directly proportional to the bottom hole pressure and inversely proportional to the gas production at the bottom of the well. The falling flux of kill fluid determines the time and cost of well killing. Accurately calculating the falling flux is helpful for the success of well killing and provides theoretical guidance for on-site well killing operations.

This study extends the ordinary state-based peridynamic theory by introducing the Mises yield criterion and linear isotropic strengthening model, establishing a numerical computational framework for peridynamic plastic constitutive modeling. A two-dimensional microstructural model of aluminum foam is created using a stochastic method, and simulations based on peridynamic computational programs are conducted to analyze the plastic deformation of aluminum foam with different porosities under impact and the propagation of cracks in the organic glass backboard. The results demonstrate that aluminum foam structures with higher porosities exhibit better impact resistance, with their plastic deformation capacity being a key factor. The simulation results are consistent with experimental data, confirming the accuracy of the simulations and the validity of the analytical conclusions. Furthermore, peridynamic methods effectively predict the propagation of cracks in the organic glass backboard and the initiation of interface cracks, further highlighting the advantages of high-porosity aluminum foam.

The processing of zirconium ceramics requires special techniques and tools due to their inherent hardness and abrasion resistance. It is crucial to recognize the challenges of machining these ceramics, with the choice of machining method depending on the specific application requirements. In this article, the feasibility of machining non-conductive zirconium ceramics using electrical discharge machining (EDM) is investigated. The research presents an innovative approach using EDM with a hybrid auxiliary electrode consisting of a graphite coating and a copper strip. The copper foil contributes to the robustness and ensures the strength of the auxiliary electrode, while the graphite coating serves as an adhesive between the foil and the ceramic. The study investigates the individual effects of different input parameters such as discharge current and pulse duration on surface roughness, material removal rate and tool wear rate. The results of this investigation have a significant impact on the overall machining performance. In particular, the discharge current and pulse duration play an equally important role, as they have a direct effect on the total discharge energy. In addition, parameters such as duty cycle, open voltage and polarity are thoroughly analyzed. Furthermore, the initial investigation lays the foundation for establishing criteria in the main study, with the findings being seamlessly integrated into the machining process of zirconium ceramics. This comprehensive approach aims to improve the precision and efficiency of machining these challenging materials.

Increasingly stringent vehicle pollution requirements, problems related to oil reserves are forcing the use of alternative fuels and additives in vehicles fueled by internal combustion engines. In this paper, was developed a single-cylinder gasoline engine model with port fuel injection. With this model were examined additions of n-butanol (5%, 10% and 15% by volume) to net gasoline and their influence on brake power, exhaust gas temperature, in-cylinder pressure, volumetric efficiency, CO, CO2 and unburned HC emissions.
