Text steganalysis faces severe challenges from the ever-improving quality of text information hiding. Text steganalysis of social networks is more challenging because of the sparsity of steganographic text in massive network texts. Detecting sparse steganographic text mainly relies on accurate modeling of steganographic features, which is still a challenging problem for existing methods. In this paper, we propose a text steganalysis method that exploits language styles. We designed a global and local fusion language style feature extraction module based on RoBertA and TF-IDF, and used a bidirectional recurrent neural network (BiRNN) to analyze the sequence changes of language style features to achieve effective detection of sparse text steganography. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The rehabilitation of the upper limbs represents a significant challenge for the medical community, being a field of fundamental importance for the recovery of patients affected by various pathologies. This article proposes an innovative solution to improve the effectiveness and experience of rehabilitation through the use of a variable stiffness device called ReHArm Prototype and a dynamic user interface called A.R.M.S. (Arms Rehabilitation Management System). The device, characterized by small size, lightness, and customizable treatment options, offers versatile support for a wide range of rehabilitation exercises. The user interface provides an interactive and progressive rehabilitation pathway, guiding users through a series of targeted exercises. Preliminary results obtained from tests conducted on beta users are presented.

This study aims to investigate the potential of open-source tools in evaluating the tire contact patch under various contidions of vertical force, camber angle and inflation pressure. Numerous experimental tests were conducted using a test press to examine a range of tires and all the different conditions, then focused on the study of passenger car tires to accurately model the tire contact patch and pressure distribution trough an approach based on open-source models. Specifically, the RMOD-K library was employed, known for its ability to conduct detailed and accurate analyses of tire performance. Through the use of this library, it was possible to extensively explore the characteristics of the tire contact patch and to obtain important information that may be useful for the creation of structural models of tires and on the study of the behavior of the tire under different conditions that cannot be tested on the bench but that can still be observed through the model. The results of this study underscore the value of open-source platforms in addressing complex challenges in tire engineering and suggest the importance of an integrated approach that combines practical experimentation and computational modeling to achieve a comprehensive understanding of tire performance.

In an era where industries are becoming increasingly automated, the role of robotic manipulators is vital, particularly in tasks such as various pick-and-place operations. To enhance the capabilities of robotic manipulators, this study develops a rapid detection and localization method for simple objects using a depth camera. The method is implemented on an Kawasaki Astorino 3D-printed low-cost robot connected to a low-performance personal computer running ROS2. The methodology involves the development of a detection method that uses a combination of a Haar cascade classifier and a Support Vector machine (SVM) with Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG). Utilizing the information from the depth camera, the system determines the pose of detected objects in the robot's base frame. The models are subsequently trained, tested, and evaluated with two types of objects: boxes and cylinders. The results are promising. Both models achieve a precision score of 1 and a recall score of approximately 0.85. Remarkably, both operate at a speed exceeding 60 FPS. Furthermore, grasp tests yield a success rate of at least 80%. The finding of the research was conducted as part of the MASTERLY project and not only solves the need for fast and efficient object detection and localization in the context of friendly-budget systems but also paves the way for more advanced applications not only in manufacturing but also in other industries and adaptive pick-and-place tasks.

Efficient management of medical equipment and supplies in healthcare facilities is crucial for streamlined operations and patient care. This article explores the integration of smart carts with assisted motion capabilities, focusing on state-of-the-art technologies and regulatory requirements. It discusses advancements in smart technologies, such as remote connectivity, and proposes a framework for the development of smart carts that emphasizes efficiency and safety. A set of research objectives are outlined and investigated, namely power consumption, ergonomic considerations, and human-machine interface integration. Theoretical concepts and experimental validation aimed at optimizing cart performance and user experience, are applied to an illustrative case study. The preliminary testing reveals promising results, with the potential for further reduction in energy consumption and user interface design improvement. Overall, this work aims to provide insight into the potential of assisted motion technology to enhance healthcare logistics and patient care delivery.

Despite the enormous potential of tires to provide information on the state of the road for braking, traction or turning;currently they are passive elements, detached from the assistance systems and/or driving automation. Likewise, its manufacture, use and recycling have a significant environmental impact, with the development of alternative materials in its components and improvements related to its life cycle being a priority. For all these reasons, in this paper it is proposed to implement a new concept of mix-tire that allows the use of new materials in the tire case and tread band, and facilitates the installation of sensors, allowing to reduce the environmental impact and at the mean time a better implementation of the intelligent tire. To this end, the possibility of applying surface treatments that increase the useful life of the casing is studied, as well as the use of a purely mechanical connection between the casing and the tread. This new tire concept, which is presented and evaluated in this study, complies with this new structure and serves as proof of concept for subsequent developments: ECOTIRE.

In this paper an approach for assistance with a limb amputee is described. Amputations represent a severe alteration of an individual's physical capabilities;however, their body image is equally affected. The field of prosthetic development has continuously evolved over the years, but it is noticeable that often users' needs are not fully met-this is because the main focus during the development process is oriented solely towards functional issues, relegating aesthetic and usability concerns to a secondary position. The present work aims at the design and development of a wearable prosthetic device for an upper limb using additive manufacturing. The goal is for the device to meet the needs and characteristics of each user. An interventionist research methodology was applied in parallel with the Double Diamond design process. Theoretical foundations were established, and data collection tools such as observation, interviews, and user questionnaires were employed. The current phase of the work, which is ongoing, represents the entire practical development, with the participation of a rehabilitation and prosthetics production center. Preliminary results of this research indicate that through additive manufacturing it is possible to reduce the final cost of the device, allowing for greater customization and, consequently, better acceptance by users. It is also evident that the use of additive manufacturing, combined with the incorporation of the prosthesis, facilitates an improvement in the rehabilitation process.

In this study, we develop a new surface treatment technology for diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in ambient air. After DBD irradiation, the friction coefficient was reduced from 0.26 to about 0.01. Itwas also found that the surface exhibited super hydrophilicity and high surface energy after DBD irradiation. In particular, nitrogen-containing DLC produces an acidic liquid film on its surface after DBD irradiation. Surface analysis indicated that the introduction of oxygen-containing groups on the surface after DBD irradiation might be the reason for the superhydrophilicity. The reason for the low friction was the interaction between the graphitized material and the highly acidic liquid.

A full-scale prototype of a 3-DOF 4R-5R parallel mechanism for an wearable end-effector type upper limb assistive robot called as "WELiBot" is fabricated. Owing to its kinematic structure, it can assist user's upper limb in motions where generation of vertical force and constraint along/on certain geometries are required. EMG measurements were collected from a healthy person as a preliminary evaluation prior to clinical trials with hemiplegic patients. Muscle activities of the person's upper limb were measured for the cases with and without assistance, and the results were compared. The results show that when the robot assisted the arm raising motion, activity in specific muscles of the upper arm and forearm decreased significantly. This confirmed the effectiveness of the motion assistance by the robot. On the other hand, no decrease in activity was observed in the shoulder muscles.
