A notion of a closure theory of a powerset theory in a ground category is introduced as a generalization of a topological theory of a powerset theory. Using examples of powerset theories in the category Set of sets and in the category of sets with similarity relations, it is proved that these theories can be also used as ground theories for closure theories of powerset theories in these two categories of fuzzy sets. Moreover, it is proved that all these closure theories of powerset theories are topological constructs.

In this paper, we develop a new method denoted by PKM-SIM for the selection of the k initial modes for the k-modes clustering method in an uncertain context. The PKM-SIM combines the possibility theory with the standard version of the k-modes (SKM). Besides, it is considered as an improvement of the possibilistic k-modes (PKM). It uses the same parameters of PKM when handling uncertain attributes using possibility theory. However, our proposal overcomes the main limitation of both SKM and PKM by avoiding the random selection of initial modes, especially that this random choice can influence the final clustering result. Hence, we make the PKM-SIM able to select the k initial modes from the most dissimilar objects of the training set. To show the effectiveness of our proposal, we compare it to the SKM and PKM based on different evaluation criteria. Results show the improvement made on the final partitions when selecting the initial modes by PKM-SIM.

We propose a locally adaptive feature weighting method based on subspace learning for multi-view data, which is an effective way to overcome the curse. It modifies the traditional subspace learning methods, to explore the subspaces of the multiple views. It locally adapts the feature weighting of each cluster automatically according to the tightness of views to improve the performance of multi-view learning. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method is good at dealing with the multi-view data of high-dimension.

This paper proposes a dynamic fuzzy clustering method to identify lower body shapes of a specific population for developing personalized pants design. Based on the 8 key dimensions and 11 body shape indices of lower body parts, identified by a group of designers, we randomly measure 125 human bodies of the target population by means of a 3D body scanning system and compute important body shape indices and then test the representativeness of the sample data using statistical analysis. Finally, the target population is clustered according to the 11 shape indices by a fuzzy clustering method. With the variation of sample data or target population, body shapes can be clustered dynamically, and a special human body can be assigned to an appropriate class according the clustering result. The obtained results will effectively help to develop the personalized garment styles.

Parafoil systems are a kind of flexible wing vehicle flying at low altitude, which are more susceptible to winds. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology is applied to simulate parafoils flying with winds. And then, the equivalent force and action point of the wind are obtained through CFD simulation analysis. Further, a six degree of freedom (DOF) dynamic model of the parafoil system in the wind environment is established.
