Recently many researchers are working on cluster analysis as a main tool for exploratory data analysis and data mining. A notable feature is that specialists in di?erent ?elds of sciences are considering the tool of data clustering to be useful. A major reason is that clustering algorithms and software are ?exible in thesensethatdi?erentmathematicalframeworksareemployedinthealgorithms and a user can select a suitable method according to his application. Moreover clusteringalgorithmshavedi?erentoutputsrangingfromtheolddendrogramsof agglomerativeclustering to more recent self-organizingmaps. Thus, a researcher or user can choose an appropriate output suited to his purpose, which is another ?exibility of the methods of clustering. An old and still most popular method is the K-means which use K cluster centers. A group of data is gathered around a cluster center and thus forms a cluster. The main subject of this book is the fuzzy c-means proposed by Dunn and Bezdek and their variations including recent studies. A main reasonwhy we concentrate on fuzzy c-means is that most methodology and application studies infuzzy clusteringusefuzzy c-means,andfuzzy c-meansshouldbe consideredto beamajortechniqueofclusteringingeneral, regardlesswhetheroneisinterested in fuzzy methods or not. Moreover recent advances in clustering techniques are rapid and we requirea new textbook that includes recent *** should also note that several books have recently been published but the contents do not include some methods studied herein.

The present book deals with coalition games in which expected pay-offs are only vaguely known. In fact, this idea about vagueness of expectations ap pears to be adequate to real situations in which the coalitional bargaining anticipates a proper realization of the game with a strategic behaviour of players. The vagueness being present in the expectations of profits is mod elled by means of the theory of fuzzy set and fuzzy quantities. The fuzziness of decision-making and strategic behaviour attracts the attention of mathematicians and its particular aspects are discussed in sev eral works. One can mention in this respect in particular the book "Fuzzy and Multiobjective Games for Conflict Resolution" by Ichiro Nishizaki and Masatoshi Sakawa (referred below as [43]) which has recently appeared in the series studies in fuzziness and soft computing published by Physica-Verlag in which the present book is also apperaing. That book, together with the one you carry in your hands, form in a certain sense a complementary pair. They present detailed views on two main aspects forming the core of game theory: strategic (mostly 2-person) games, and coalitional (or cooperative) games. As a pair they offer quite a wide overview of fuzzy set theoretical approaches to game theoretical models of human behaviour.

Criticism is the habitus of the contemplative intellect, whereby we try to recognize with probability the genuine quality of a l- erary work by using appropriate aids and rules. In so doing, c- tain general and particular points must be considered. The art of interpretation or hermeneutics is the habitus of the contemplative intellect of probing into the sense of somewhat special text by using logical rules and suitable means. Note : Hermeneutics differs from criticism as the part does from the whole. Antonius Gvilielmus Amo Afer (1727) There is no such thing as absolute truth. At best it is a subj- tive criterion, but one based upon valuation. Unfortunately, too many people place their fate in the hands of subjective without properly evaluating it. Arnold A. Kaufmann and Madan M. Gupta The development of cost benefit analysis and the theory of fuzzy decision was divided into two inter-dependent structures of identification and measurement theory on one hand and fuzzy value theory one the other. Each of them has sub-theories that constitute a complete logical system.

Intelligence systems. We perfonn routine tasks on a daily basis, as for example: • recognition of faces of persons (also faces not seen for many years), • identification of dangerous situations during car driving, • deciding to buy or sell stock, • reading hand-written symbols, • discriminating between vines made from Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah or Merlot grapes, and others. Human experts carry out the following: • diagnosing diseases, • localizing faults in electronic circuits, • optimal moves in chess games. It is possible to design artificial systems to replace or "duplicate" the human expert. There are many possible definitions of intelligence systems. One of them is that: an intelligence system is a system able to make decisions that would be regarded as intelligent ifthey were observed in humans. Intelligence systems adapt themselves using some example situations (inputs of a system) and their correct decisions (system's output). The system after this learning phase can make decisions automatically for future situations. This system can also perfonn tasks difficult or impossible to do for humans, as for example: compression of signals and digital channel equalization.

softcomputing is playing an increasing role in the study of complex systems in science and engineering. There is a large spectrum of successful applications of softcomputing in very different applications domains such as aerospace, communication, consumer appliances, electric power systems, process engineering, transportation, and manufacturing automation and robotics. It has taken a while to bring the early ideas of softcomputing to an area and a discipline that seems to be more than appropriate for that. Here it is! This book studiessoftcomputing in software engineering environment. The book is HARD in terms of its results. It covers a range of core topics from software engineering that are soft from its very nature: selection of components, software design, software reuse, software cost estimation and software processes. softcomputing differs from conventional (hard) computing in its ability to be tolerant of imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximation. The guiding principle of softcomputing is: Exploit the tolerance for imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximation to achieve tractability, robustness and low solution cost. The role model for softcomputing is the human mind. This seems to be a natural fit with software engineering, a human-based development activity based on sound engineering principles. A recent survey by researchers reveals that "software Engineering research tends to be quite self-contained, not relying on other disciplines for its thinking".

This book tackles the intricacies of decision-making processes where alternatives stem from distinct, finite sets. Discover the cutting-edge in decision-making with our groundbreaking book on complex two-sided matching methods. Harnessing the power of probabilistic linguistic term sets, it introduces innovative methods that enhance matching efficiency and practicality.
It addresses the pressing question of how to navigate and optimize in scenarios with multifaceted matching challenges, offering an exploration into the psychological perceptions of agents through consistency checks and pairwise comparisons. It delves into the unknowns of static matching with multiple attribute weights, extends its scope to multi-sided agent sets in complex matching, and introduces dynamic screening mechanisms to refine the matching process.
This book is not just a theoretical exploration. It lays the groundwork for intelligent matching algorithms and group mechanisms, providing actionable insights for technical supply and demand allocation, emergency personnel dispatch, and multi-stage medical management scheme selection. The effectiveness of these methods is backed by comparative analyses and simulation experiments, proving their superiority in real-world applications.
Embrace the future of decision-making with our book, a must-read for those seeking to master complex matching scenarios and unlock practical solutions.
