摘      要:The effects of various initial pH values (i.e., 3, 5, 7, 11) on intracellular and extracellular antibiotic resistance genes (iARGs and eARGs) and potential microbial hosts carrying ARGs were investigated in the process of anaerobic fermentation of swine manure. The results indicated that under acidic initial fermentation conditions (pH 3 and 5), the removal effect of ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) was more pronounced. A network analysis was performed in a fermentation system, and 105 ARGs carried by potential microbial hosts were consistently identified. Further comparisons were made among the potential microbial hosts of ARGs, resulting in the identification of 29 human pathogenic genera. Notably, the removal efficiency of antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and antibiotic resistant pathogenic bacteria (ARPB) is significantly greater under acidic (pH 3 and 5) fermentation conditions than under pH 7 and 11. Acidic conditions can significantly reduce the diversity and abundance of the microbial community, resulting in the elimination of many potential ARG hosts. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
