摘 要:HAYVAL is a microcomputer program designed to evaluate the winter feeding needs of beef ( Bos taurus ), sheep ( Ovis aries ), and horses ( Equus caballus ). It was designed for ease of use, with the purpose of teaching the principles of hay quality and animal nutrition. Functional relationships between feed quality and animal requirements were derived from the National Research Council series of publications Nutrient Requirements of Domestic Animals. Use of the HAYVAL program is based on menus and user-entered data. Default values are provided for many questions. This program was written in Turbo Pascal and is operational on IBM PCs, XTs, ATs, or fully compatible machines with a minimum of 256 K RAM using either a color or monochrome monitor.
