摘      要：In this article the author discusses his reflection as a column editor at the Software Spotlight journal from 2002 to 2010. He says that during his appointment, the journal aims to offer readers with a concise summary of useful software packages. He adds that the published columns for software in the journal were divided into six categories including graphical user interfaces of numerical modeling, internet resources on groundwater data retrieval, and perspectives for software development.
