Fano resonances in translationally invariant nonlinear chains

摘      要:We show that the Fano resonance, which has been actively studied in the context of mesoscopic transport in systems with impurities or defects, also occurs in translationally invariant nonlinear chains. We find that the phonon scattering with the intrinsic nonlinear localized excitation, called the discrete breather, in this system produces a rich resonance structure involving the typical signatures of Fano resonance with both perfect transmission and perfect reflection, and the anomalous resonance structures. Our system can serve as a simple paradigm for understanding rich Fano-related phenomena in a wide class of nonlinear lattices, based on the global structure of the localized modes and the perfect reflection.
