摘 要:Mobile Ad-hoc Networks rely on participating nodes to conduct routing duties and forwarding data packets between nodes, mainly due to their limited transmission capabilities. Routing protocols intend to minimize the exchange of information to reduce overhead, which in result leads to lack of knowledge about others beyond the transmission range of a selected path. This creates a perfect environment for wormholes (WHs) to direct the route discovery through themselves and harm the network. This paper proposes an enhancement to the SIMAN (Smart Identification of MANET Nodes) algorithm that facilitates location sharing of nodes within the discovered path and allows source nodes to reject the path if the distance between any two nodes exceeds the transmission capbility of the wireless device. Nodes are authenticated through the original identity sharing mechanisms of the SIMAN algorithm applied during the RREP process of the AODV routing protocol. © 2018 International Journal of Network Security.
