摘      要:Emotional and physical stress is an intrinsic part of medical practice (1). This may be intensified by sleep deprivation, resulting in fatigue and impaired mental and physical performance (2–4). However, little is known about the effects of prolonged working hours on hormonal and metabolic parameters in physicians (4). We therefore studied urinary excretion rates of several steroid metabolites in a group of internal medicine residents during a 24-hour working period.
