摘      要：Gearing with Novikov teeth, possessing a considerable initial reserve of contact strength of the active tooth surfaces, has constantly demonstrated its advantages in cases where contact endurance is the limiting factor, namely, when the teeth are made with a low hardness of the surfaces. However, the growing requirements concerning the loading of a toothed drive forced investigators to focus serious attention on the possibility of using Novikov teeth in gearing with high-hardness teeth. The experience gained by testing and operating Novikov gearing (especially with high-hardness teeth) shows that considerable influence on the work capacity of the teeth is exerted by the height of contact band position on the active tooth surfaces.
