基 金:This report is an aggregation and sum mary of eight separate breakout ses sions held during this two-day workshop. The intent was to capture the important points made by a collec tion of more than 40 different researchers in areas related to smart environments research. Any misrepre sentation of those points is the fault of the editor and not the other participants. The attendees of the workshop would like to acknowledge the financial support of the National Science Foundation (grant 9981995) and the organizational support of Jean Scholtz (DARPA)  Karen Sollins (NSF)  Dar-leen Fisher (NSF)  Kevin Mills (NIST)  and Vince Stanford (NIST). The organizers would also like to acknowledge the support of the students and administrators at Georgia Tech that made this workshop a technical success. Full materials  including participant position papers  for this workshop are available at http://eclass.cc.gatech.edu/events/smart-envs

主 题:Human computer interaction

摘      要:Many interesting research challenges await the paradigm shift in the relationship between humans and computers. This article highlights those challenges from two distinct perspectives: human-centered;and technology-centered. It also discusses findings from breakout discussions representing these two perspectives.
